[TUP] May Day Celebrations & Giveaway

Day 1,256, 08:16 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by The Unity Party

Dear friends,

Today I am writing on behalf of the Unity Party about the upcoming May 1st Celebration. As some of you may know, May 1st is International Workers Day, a day when all workers regardless of their race, ethnicity or faith come together to show solidarity of purpose in the protection of their fundamental working rights.

Although in eRepublik we obviously don’t have the serious issues which still afflict workers all around the real world, we have our own smaller problems. The gap between the rich and the poor grows ever larger, with some GMs making more money per day than all their workers combined. Although wages seem deceptively high, the gap is growing ever larger, and the unavailability of gold on the MM makes reaching a level where basic self-supply of food can be achieved even more difficult.

At the Unity Party we believe in a responsible blend of business practice and social service. Although we have some of the wealthiest and oldest citizens in the UK, it is our goal to use that wealth to provide aid to the poorest (and newest) members of our society, so that the UK might grow together. This is reinforced by our pledge in our constitution to fight for “a just society, which judges its strength by the condition of the weak as much as the strong”.

This May day, TUP is celebrating with a big giveaway to the ordinary workers and citizens of the UK. We already run two gifting services: a food program and a welcome basket program on the official eUK forums. You can read about those here.

Our giveaway will be funded by our older, better off members as one of the many ways they give back to the community. To qualify, simply post below. There are no restrictions on wellness, age, or wealth, though we hope the richer citizens will give more than they take in the spirit of the day. To support this, send any moneys or items to this org.

YOU MUST BE A UK CITIZEN

Gifts will be assigned at random by whoever turns up, and could include everything from weapons to food to bits of currency people have lying around. We also encourage people to get on board with the idea and give gifts to each other to get into the spirit of the day. Remember, there is no obligation to do anything, and we certainly don’t want people to think they have to join TUP just because they’ve got a gift. That’s not what this day is about.

All gifts will be given on May 1st, though feel free to comment at any time 🙂

Happy May Day everyone 🙂
