[State] CoT, Canada, and France

Day 2,131, 11:29 Published in USA USA by Department of State

Fellow Americans,

I have some news for you all regarding CoT that has yet to be officially announced from us. Then I present a piece on the return to friendly relations with our northern neighbor that has been a controversial topic for quite some time and now is settling. Let's get right down to business and I won't keep you waiting.

Some interesting and great news for CoT. First off, we have established a new office in the CoT HQ, and we now have an official Secretary of Foreign Relations (or SoFA) helping out CoT nations and their diplomatic endeavors. I am pleased to announce that yours truly (NewAzazel) has accepted this position. I am honored to be back in CoT office, and I will work hard to improve the cohesion and image of our alliance in its foreign affairs. I have set about working on alliance issues ranging from Canada to Indonesia, to ensure we are involved and engaged with CoT nations.

Wait, did I say Canada? This leads us into our next new topic. CoT is proud to announce that we have two new trial members: Canada and France. Relations with Canada and CoT have been steadily improving over the past few months, and our friend France took the final step forward after months of cooperation with CoT. So lets welcome our new brothers-in-arms to our Circle of Trust.

HAIL CANADA!
HAIL FRANCE!
HAIL COT!

The Restoration of Canadian-American Relations
By Deputy Secretary of State Derphoof

There has been some discussion lately in Canada over their joining of CoT as well as how the Spanish-American war will impact them. This is obviously understandable, when looked at from their perspective. Their nation was hastily added to the Circle of Trust, when the opportunity arose, and they have just gotten out of a grueling 8 month war with Spain due to an NAP agreement.

There have been cries from the eCanadian people calling for them to not support the USA in this new war. They have felt rejected due to the apathy shown to Canada in the past by the US government. As such, despite being allies, they are wary of supporting our nation in defending the Spanish aggressors.

After the deterioration of USA-Canada relations in the Fall/Winter of 2012, the USA sat idly by as we all watched Spain trounce the Canadian people and keep them occupied. The United States failed to do anything to protect the Canadian people from the Spanish assault and occupation. The United States, at the time of invasion, had little interest in helping the Canadian people due to how eroded relations had become.

Yet, that is no longer the case.

Since the outbreak of the CoT-TWO war, relations between the USA and Canada have become stronger, month by month. Governments have communicated more, and the USA even gave some support to Canadian military actions, like the airstrike on Lithuania.

Canada is now also a trial member of the Circle of Trust. When they applied, we welcomed them with open arms into our alliance and we hope for them to stay there. We are finally in the same alliance for the first time since Terra. The acceptance of Canada into CoT is not just an acknowledgement of our nations having mutual enemies, but rather a testament to how far our two nations have come.

Despite our recent past, we are truly allies once more.

Our peoples have shared a long, affectionate, and storied past, accomplishing great feats. In the past, we have fought off invaders together countless times. In various wars, when circumstances looked dire and we appeared defeated, we worked together to cast off our invaders from PEACE/Phoenix/ONE. Just as well, we helped each other to conquer enemy nations, holding them down and liberating allies in the process.

The people of our two countries have long awaited the day when USA-Canada relations would be restored to their proper standing, and we have made it there. Regardless of who controls the office of CP in Canada, they are our ally and we will work with them to defend each other and achieve our common goals.

The United States can say, without question, that we will be there for our Canadian brothers-in-arms and protect them from whatever harm that may come their way. We will defend them from any invasion and seek to protect them, to the maximum extent of our ability.

It does not matter who holds the office of CP.
It does not matter who is threatening their nation.

From this day forward, The United States will be there for the Canadian people, when they need us.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact NewAzazel, or one of the Vice MoFAs, Derphoof and Mazzy Cat. Questions about ambassadors should be directed towards Wild Owl.
