Today, I bring you my latest assignment from the Federalist Media Department. We give you an in-depth look at SHIELD.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with the CO and former CO of SHIELD, so we could peal away some of the layers of this mysterious group. Without further adieu, I give you Tyler Bubblar and former CO crashthompson.

Some info may be redundant, but I wanted to give us each person's perspective, so deal with it.



1. First, can you give me a little background into SHIELD. What is it? When and who formed it? What is the successor of leaders?

TB: SHIELD is the official Fed MU. It was formed in April of 2013 in the wake of the EZC split from the Party. The main 3 founders as far as I remember were crashthompson, Molly Emma, and Tiacha. The 3 of them put a lot of time, cc, and rl scratch into setting up infrastructure to support the MU. It's first CO was Tiacha, then Crashthompson, then Darian Dracona, then Crash again, and Mourningstar. Mourningstar passed the torch on to me shortly after the 5th.

CT: SHIELD was created by the Federalist Party after EZC decided to seperate itself. After EZC split, Fed leadership felt we wanted and needed a party MU. For a month we discussed as a party names, what we were looking for, etc...

SHIELD was eventually the chosen name. The initial goal of SHIELD was to provide an open MU with training and for fun.

SHIELD was officially started April 2013. The initial officers were Tiacha as CO, Myself and Molly Emma as XO's. We made up the entire SHIELD leadership at the time. After about a month Tiacha ended up leaving the game and I stepped in as CO. We expanded leadership to include Dunks as QMG, some personnel officers and a media officer. As we have been going our leadership team has grown and shrunk depending on the RL expectations of our staff.

2. When did you join SHIELD? And WHY? And what was your MU/military training before joining SHIELD?

TB: I joined SHIELD in April not long after its creation. I had recently returned to the game after a long hiatus, I joined the Feds and absolutely fell in love with the vibrant welcoming community. I joined the Party MU hoping to further immerse myself into that community. I did basic training back in 2009. Beyond that very little.

CT: I joined SHIELD at the get go as one of its XO's. As a Fed member, I felt that an MU and the Party would benefit by being associated with each other. Because I felt that way I signed up to help build it.



3. How active should I be if I were to join SHIELD? Do you have your own forums and IRC rooms?

TB: You could be as active as you want in SHIELD. We have a training program for those who want to build strength(HAMMER), regiments for the casual player, and a regiment for those who want to deploy behind enemy lines and wreak havoc (SWORD). We have a wing I the Fed forums, SHIELD soldiers will have access to this wing alone with the Fun Zone so they can participate in the various contests and games hosted there. Our irc room is called #shield.

CT: We have a range of active members. We have some that are just content with dropping damage where directed. We have others that want to be more involved, chatting on irc, helping new players, etc... We seek to promote within ranks. Sle7en was one of our earlier players. He has fulfilled the roll of HAMMER director, Regiment Captain, QM, and is now serving as XO. You choose an activity level that suits you. We feel the more active you are, the more fun you will have but we won't force it on you. As long as you work in the commune and respond to orders, we will supply you.

We have our own IRC room, #SHIELD but we share forums with the Federalist Party.



4. What kind of supplies can I expect from SHIELD?

TB: We have arguably the most generous supply drop in erep. Those who commune are given 1000 Health and 12 tanks for their initial daily drop, those who request a resupply will be given 150 health and 5 tanks. If daily orders require you to move we will also provide you with cc to cover your moving costs.

CT: Our current supplies are 1000 energy and 12 tanks. At times we allow refiles of 150 energy and 5 tanks.

During past deployments we have temporarily upped the supplies as well as paid moving costs. During the battle for the eUS last summer we upped supplies and paid for SHIELD members to move when needed.



5. Do you do regimental competitions? Or organize activities to get people more active?

TB: Not at this moment but plans are in place to begin doing so asap.

CT: At this time we have not done any regimental activities. Most have been activities involving the whole MU in general. This has included simple things like roll calls for major announcements, voting on regimental names, recognizing some SHIELD members.

We have formed various programs also to help with activity.
HAMMER is our new player training program. We have educational material that we ask HAMMER members to read through in War College. In exchange they are assisted with getting gold to upgrade their weight room. Before the division change, they were also required to take a break from fighting till their strength reached a certain limit. HAMMER soldiers are also supplied with materials to build rockets to assist them in dropping damage.

SWORD - Our program for our more active fighters and those willing to move for RW's. This program has been on and off depending upon the number of soldiers willing to fill it and the needs of the MU.



6. Do you recruit or promote the MU? If so, do you have an active media presence?

TB: When I first joined SHIELD we had an active media presence, and staff in place for recruiting and placement. My goal as CO is to get us back to that. I have promoted a Communications officer (Alexander Aten) to help us get more SHIELD media out there. As CO I'll be publishing regularly as well.

CT: We do actively recruit. SHIELD is included with the Federalist recruitment message as well as some of our own recruiting efforts.
As for media presence, you can look over my paper, that is where most of the SHIELD media has been published in the past. At this time we are working to revamp and improve our media presence.



7. Most Importantly, why should I join SHIELD?

TB: SHIELD Is a great place for any and all we're the Fed MU, but we have an open recruiting policy. We take any all. As I said before supplies are generous, we are an up and coming MU, but most of all because we want you this is a great place to grow with us.

CT: We are still a young and growing MU. We are very focused on helping and educating new players. We have fun. If you are looking for any of those, join us.



8. Anything You'd like to say to Joe and Jane Smoe?

TB: I have not been in this position long, but plans to re-energize this MU are underway. In the coming weeks it is my hope that these plans will bear fruit. Expect great things from SHIELD.
