[Seanan] Everything you need to know: IRE-UK Treaty
Bip Kang
Hello Ireland,
There are a few articles in the media by opposing Irish factions (plus a few individuals) which take a stab at each-other over the Ire-UK region swaps. In order to end the hype, I'm going to lay out exactly what the deal is. Attempts to voice the pros and con of the deal have been lost in the heated debates, so I'll just provide a list of what people have said + whatever I can think of(Sources: A, B, C, D, E, F, G).
The deal has three major conditions (Taken from source E):
1) Ireland gets regions Northern Ireland and Scotland
2) UK gets fruit in Louth and Dublin
3) UK gets congress this month *(Or more accurately, Ireland does not directly attempt to stop the UK gaining a congress)
Below I list points I have read in all sources:
Pros
✯ Ireland gains a Fish Bonus (Northern Ireland)
✯ Ireland gains Scotland which borders Europe - i.e. the ability to directly attack ONE in Europe.
✯ The latest Anglo-Irish war is concluded - i.e. Ireland has no active front on her main regions and end of the long conflict.
✯ Allows Ireland to focus on EDEN MPP battles.
✯ RWs in Scotland and Northern Ireland provide non-critical opportunities to gain TP medals.
Cons
✯ Ireland loses Dublin and Louth - two regions which hold sentimental value for ingame achievements and rl affiliations.
✯ Closure of the Anglo-Irish war removes support to the Canada-France war effort on the UK.
✯ RWs add a drain on Irish damage and potential for hassle.
✯ Combination of distrust of the UK to honour the treaty and possible future re-emergence of ONE power giving a constant concern of invasion from UKs established foothold in Ireland.
Above, I have attempted to bring all thoughts on the matter together in one article. If I have missed a point, feel free to say in the comments and I will respond or edit it in.
My personal thoughts on the actual deal was that I do not trust the UK to honour the treaty should they enter a position of power not to require it; That is not a spiteful stab, but from past experience not many countries trust the UK to honour treaties. However, Irish government seem to think it can last for enough time to be considered a successful engagement so in my opinion its not a huge enough concern to stop the deal. The regions swaps I think are beneficial to Irish citizens development, and hopefully in the future it would make any disagreements with the UK more like a good-mannered tussle rather than a hateful war.
However, there was criticism that the deal was not very well communicated. I am not a Dail member so I do not have access to the Private Dail, but from source G apparently 90% of the Dail signed the treaty, so I suspect there is a post within the forum. This doesn't help average citizenry but the two articles (sources D&E) released in the past months were provided.. given that it has taken a few months for this deal to initiate it still may be a legitimate criticism that further articles werent published (like, before the UK invaded Dublin) - many may have missed the first two published article or arrived in Ireland afterwards. For casual citizens those articles could of been easily missed.
That criticism does not extend to Dail members who have been elected during and since the signing of the treaty, in my opinion. A casual Dail member is a bad Dail member, and they are elected to ask questions / gather info on behalf of the average citizenry. As most know, I have little love for the Dail and the reason for that is that they have to be spoon fed by a minister to be happy, from my own personal experience. So while I understand anyone, citizen or Dail member, may have missed the articles - I'm only sympathetic to citizens. /rantover
But the reason for this article was that the debate was getting very heated. Alot of name calling and slander. Hence I looked to the blue corner and saw the roofer (and his boy toy? Welcome home NFM!) in a tussle with Kurgan (and his entertainment)... ie the guys doing the fighting. Independents are often ignored because they are boring, so I'm sticking to writing about the extremes.
All the media stuff started off with Dan Breen with "lol silly Libertard" which he pictured Kurgan shouting to Defend Dublin and Daghd'hanrahan saying the treaty was made by liars, Dublin was never mentioned anywhere etc etc. Followed by Kurgan with "Welcome to British Dublin" where he mentions stolen state funds, the "family" and same thing Dagetc said.
Now, I love to investigate. Firstly, I investigated whether or not the swapping of Dublin was ever mentioned, given that the highest criticism of this deal was that it was all cloak and dagger... it was pretty easy as that is mentioned in source D and E. Which was a huge anti-climax so I looked at what two "It wasn't communicated" critics said in my own chats with them + another shout:
My own screen shots
At this point, I think I could identify the root of the problem but I looked even further into it.. just to make sure. Daghdha and Grainne obviously missed the Irish articles.. they are a fairly active couple, I guess its easy for anyone less active to miss them, no?
Hmmmmmmmm what is this, source E?
The following screenshots were provided by Bip Kang, a new player and member of Labour's Army whom I contacted to take the shots. The links he provided me are here:

This is my attempt at providing a neutral witness, in case anything happened to those comments :3 These pictures are provided below with a conclusion:
Comments made by Dag, Kurgan and Grainne from the article which detailed the region swaps, and which regions which would be swapped. Along with many others involved in the current discussion.
From this evidence, I can conclude without a shadow of a doubt that the two of most vocal anti-Ire/UK deal Daghdha and Viktor (plus the lovely Grainne) suffer from AMNESIA!
How else could anyone comment on an article which John Gormley describes as "very informative", their friends comment on the article with all the details and still have to cause a sh*tstorm because they dont remember it?
Unless they don't talk to their friends either!
😮

Was all that needed?
There was legitimate criticisms of the deal which was made, but yet again, the antics of the few who play the reactionary opposition role to any ICA-affiliated government are suffocating any reasonable opposition - you are not helping anyone.
Go sit in the corner and think about what you have done. And prepare to fight Sweden to a bloody end!

Thanks BK!
Protip: Grainne Ni Mhaille and Daghdha are the same person.
No problem, good article.
we gain nothing northern Ireland is ours already
we lose Dublin, Louth and are national balls
Scotland is rebelling more then ever
I don't think you read the article, did you Brutal33?
Good article voted
Reasons in that MUFC article are nothing more but lies and propaganda...
Dublin was sold and i would like to know the price.
And Seanan...since you are so honest...when will you write an article about Sweet never show us detailed state fund info....this is money of all citizens of ireland and yet Sweet never show as detail transit data of every iep in and out of state wault.
When will you show as that screenshots!
And let as not forget Seanan....when Dan Breen scammed Loyen, an irish citizen, for 10 golds you called him a Robin Hood!
Yeah...i will take moral and patriotic lessions form you...
It's clear you are a servent of that ped.....Godfather and not of Ireland.
Kurgan twist and turn. He try change direction cause him stoopid.
Kurgan angered 73rd time. Success!
Dont remember my recent article about recording the Free Tank data? Understandable, you dont seem to remember alot of things. Or maybe you are just lying through your teeth to ruffle the government's feathers?
Your encouragement to fight in Dublin/Louth is just a damage drain on EDEN and Ireland. Its time you calm the feck down, and fight for Irish glory in Sweden tonight.
So no Up the Dubs?
Why can't we all just get along?
Great read, good journalism!
MUFC's articles are tl;dr. I can understand how someone could skim it, miss the land swap, and just read the comments...
I apparently did... 😕
This article http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-ireland-uk-peace-1993884/1/20 was released the same day as the one you talk about, it had more votes and was top of the Irish media. It is 100% clear on the deal and there can be no excuses for "skimming" it and missing the details.
If you're not going to keep yourself informed then blame yourself, no-one else.
Positive is boring and doesn't help the story Bhane.
As a 20 clicker, I do skim the media. Skimming that article, I knew we had a treaty and were going to be at peace. If I caught the bold part, I would know something about a resource trade, and then that we're still in Eden because of the big logo at the bottom.
What I wouldn't know (and it wouldn't hurt to have bolded) is that we're giving two of our regions, including our highest pop density, to our former arch nemesis.
Oh well, maybe next time.
Would you like perhaps a minister who has no real life to sit down and PM every citizen in the country every time there is a bit of news to keep you 20 clickers happy?
You can give it up now, you already admitted that you're only bawwing caz you don't like us and it has nothing to do with the treaty.
Also, unless Seanan hacked Bhane and put the blank comment there, then that's exactly what Bhane himself did.
Seriously all this incoherent bawwing is becoming such a joke.
on liberated side, as this ''family in power" think there are no better players than they are.
Ghoti - If you skimmed the article, and you dislike this deal, then I believe this is a moment to learn from your mistakes and stop skimming articles. Bit of modesty when I've just shown this BS is all intentional BS.
Legend Seanan
kip bang- its too long
and i was right about Scotland
and now northern Ireland
and no i didn't read it all but we all agree UK has no honour
No IBhoy, I said exactly what I want. I wanted important parts in bold. Not some bullshit about fish and fruits. How 'bout a dedicated article to the treaty that makes the top 5? There are so many summary articles (many of which are boring political propaganda), that it is rather tiresome to try to keep up with all of them.
Where was losing Scotland in the deal? I think you left out some stuff in your "Everything to know" article.
For the record, I moved away from the contested areas when Dublin was taken, but if I had moved to Scotland as had been advised to me, I would be extremely pissed.
Scotland was acting as a drain to our attacks in Sweden, MoD ignored it, likely because they didnt want to spilt forces and they know that they can get Scotland back fairly easily.
You're so easily pissed off Ghoti.
The article was put out and it was clear. If you're not active enough to read it(it was short and TOP OF THE MEDIA) then that's your problem, not mine.
Maybe we will just write everything in size 200 bolded font for you from now on.
"Where was losing Scotland in the deal?"
We still have an open war with UK yes?
It is impossible, unimaginable, that we could use that to take Scotland back when we get a chance, no?
UK know the deal and have honoured it for 2 months. You think they were happy giving up NI and Scotland to us? They will co-operate to get Scotland back to Irish hands. Until that day I look forward to hearing you WHINGE about it.
Ok, pretentious asshat. (Urban Dictionary def 3: whinging)
I miss eIrish community politics x17
oh and nice article Seanan,
I was dying for some real info
Always glad when I do my random log on and see an article from Seanan.
These blaggards have been at it as far back as I can remember, but never in that time has that been shown with such, accuracy, clarity and may I say eloquence.

"You're so easily pissed off Ghoti."
He gets that from me.
Excellent article as always, taught I commented on this earlier but guess I forgot to.
damn nice article man!
Those who subscribed to my paper; I didn't write this article and it's unfair that I get subbers from content I did not create, I've simply put it up for him as a favour.
