[Results] National Performance Survey
Stilpo
Hello again Ireland,
Below are the results of my monthly national performance poll (administered around the 20th of each month), which independently measures and tracks public perception of performance for the following:
1) Ireland as a whole (i.e. both government and society)
2) The CP
3) All head ministers
4)
The purpose of this poll is not to single any individuals out for their positive or negative performance, but rather to encourage personal reflection and provide a little extra motivation for everyone to perform to the best of their ability no matter what role they play in our community.
RAFFLE WINNERS
First things first. Gold prizes were offered to those who completed this poll. Winners were determined by assigning each eligible survey-taker a number based on the order they took the survey, and then generating random numbers in the same range via the random number generator at http://www.random.org/. Only current Irish citizens who indicated that they wished to participate in the raffle were considered eligible.
1-gold prize winners (5):
Patrick O’leary
Paddy Obrien
darragh1995
Frank Dobbs
Gruzz
5-gold prize winner (1):
Tobias McKinney
Congratulations to all of the winners!!!
SPONSORS
In addition to recognizing the winners of the raffle, it is also important to recognize the heroes who donated their own gold to help sponsor this month’s raffle prizes. Between them, this month’s private donors provided over 12 gold to the raffle fund (part of which will be used to sponsor next month’s survey). If this level of giving continues next month we will have to increase the prize money! I’m thrilled to see that I’m not the only one out there who is interested in making this survey a success.
Rikian1776 (10 gold donation)
Note: this donation will be used to sponsor the grand prize for the next two surveys.
AD31 (1 gold donation)
Gerald Smyth (1 gold donation)
EmperorPalpatine (0.5 gold donation)
THANK YOU ALL!!!
If you would like to help sponsor the next survey, please PM me (Stilpo) to make arrangements. You can either (1) donate directly to me or (2) I can give you the name of a winner and you can make the donation yourself! In either case you will be listed publicly as a sponsor (minimum donation 0.5 gold).
NOTE: A record of all past sponsors (and winners), including cumulative totals for each individual, can be viewed in this Google doc.
PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTS
Before you continue to the results of the poll it is very important to understand the makeup of those who took the poll. Both the number and diversity of survey-takers can have a significant effect on the validity and reliability of the results, as well the way in which specific results are interpreted.
I am thrilled to announce that this month we had excellent turnout with 37 individuals completing the poll. That is more than double the participants we had last month! Moreover, the responses we got were very diverse, with 7 Irish parties and more than 6 Irish MUs being represented. Also included in the analysis are responses from 6 participants who were not current Irish citizens but considered themselves to be an active part of the Irish community. IF any multi-attempts were suspected from the meta-data that was collected from each user (i.e. IP address; browser info) their responses were excluded from the final analysis.

NOTES ON INTERPRETATION
Star scale: Unless otherwise specified (as in the individual congress member ratings), all performance evaluation judgments were made on a 5-star rating scale with 1/2-star increments.
5 stars = extremely satisfied
2.5 stars = neither satisfied nor dissatisfied
0 stars = extremely dissatisfied
Box plots Most analyses this month make use of box plots, which I find to be much more informative than simple means.
Below is a simple visual explanation of a box plot.
Note:In the below analysis, if the sample size is small enough and/or the responses are skewed enough, the whiskers may not be visible because they fall on the same point as the edge of the box. If no box appears around the median, this means that the overwhelming majority of responses fell on exactly that point (or there was only one response in that group).
RESULTS: IRELAND AS A WHOLE
We will start our analysis with evaluations of the country as a whole. Below are the results of how survey-takers thought we were doing overall this month, as well ratings as on 4 specific criteria (explained below). These criteria were based on the results of the May 2013 brainstorming survey in which participants were asked to give the most important criterion by which the country should be judged as successful.
In addition, I also thought it might be interesting to see how our perception of Irish unity this month breaks down by party. There was nothing too dramatic in the results (below), but it could be interesting to some.

Category Key
Reputation: being respected by friends and enemies; having many friends; having an effective military force; being seen as loyal and honorable; contributing to alliances; feeling a sense of pride to be Irish; having an influence in world affairs
Independence: being free of foreign influence; avoiding foreign PTO; controlling our own regions
Activity: being economically and socially productive, having fun, publishing many newspaper articles, having lively and constructive debates, accomplishing social goals; retaining new players
Unity: working together effectively as a society; minimizing internal divisions and personal feuds; being civil with each other
RESULTS: COUNTRY PRESIDENT
Next we will focus on the performance of the CP. Like the country, the CP was also rated both on overall performance as well as on four specific performance criteria that are essential to the CP’s job description (based on responses to the May 2013 brainstorming survey).

RESULTS: BONUS SECTION
In this month’s bonus section, Irish citizens had the opportunity to rank traits of a good CP candidate. The entire ranked list of traits is included below, as well as the top and bottom traits as voted by each participating party.
Pease keep in mind that these are relative orderings. Just because a trait appears at the bottom of the list doesn’t mean it’s a trait to avoid – only that other traits are considered relatively more important.
NOTE: One trait that I failed to include in the list that several people mentioned in the free comments section (and one that I also feel is very important) is non-partisanship. Although this trait may be represented indirectly by some of the other traits (e.g. practicality), it still should have been included in the list.

P.S. I apologize for taking so long to publish the analysis this month, but as many of you already know, I have been traveling in real life and have had very limited access to computer/internet facilities. But because we didn’t have a congress section this month, publishing the results after congress elections shouldn’t be an issue. Enjoy!
Great work Stilpo. I find it very interesting to read the comments people made - I'm a bit put off about some of the comments made about the MoE though, FUUUUUU! I'm not sure how accurate it really is, but the part at the end with priorities by party was very intriguing, I'd love to see more of the same kind of idea.
Of course box plots can be a bit perplexing at first, but if you catch on they communicated a lot of data extremely fast 🙂
Yeah I agree. Definitely shouldn't read too much into the bonus section. It was just for fun. And I wasn't even sure if i wanted to post the parties that just had one or two respondents. But I will leave it up to the reader to decide what they take away from it.
Lol I was confused with IV's top trait until I realized there was only one person who answered. XD
Anyway, seriously a great survey. o7
lol that one threw me for a loop too at first XD
No bad-faith please : P You should read Hume's writings on sympathy & my writings on empathy hehe

I must hand it to you, you surpassed yourself (and the previous survey). So in the next survey we could expect to see some fireworks too? 😛 (joking)
Seriously outstanding work and a very good analysis!
I'm happy with most of the results, and surprised by some others!
Good survey. 37 responses is an okay turnout, but still low - hopefully we can that will improve that.
oh my spelling ;__;
Yeah, last time I did surveys it started out slow too, but after a few months the hype got built up and I started pulling in over 50 people per survey. That's definitely my goal here.
Stilpo, Minister of Statistics.
Great work.
good job sir!
