Join the new world

Hello everyone, it is now 2009 and the first election of the year is here. It takes no stretch of the imagination to conceive the outcome I am hoping for in these elections. I have run for president several times in the past and have always been unsuccessful. I stand here today to tell you that the country has suffered because of it. That may sound egotistical of me, but as my opponent Uncle Sam states often, having some ego is not a bad thing. I would assume No-one would look back and say that Archibald or Immunogenic did a better job then I ever could have, and I am not saying I would have done amazing, but I know I could have done more. I am standing before you as the candidate who has served more time in assorted political offices then the other two candidates combined. I have served as Vice President to this great country for 3 terms, and through that I know what it takes to run the country and to be president. I have worked in shaping our country in every major facets that exists in the past 7 months I have served. I want to continue the work that I have started. I want to serve this nation one final time as President. To fix what is broken, to improve what is in a state of degradation, to unite a people who are now bitter and divided. We are a great nation who can do anything we put our mind to, but unless we work together. To sort out our differences, and to establish a common goal. We will never accomplish that. Everyone may not agree on what the best tax rate is, but we can agree that our citizens need to be able to purchase the goods they want, and our GMs need to be able to stay in business. We may not always agree on war, but we can agree on immoral actions, and we can support our allies in their time of need. As voting will begin shortly after publishing this article I should stop my ranting there.

I will say that this election will be a very tight race between the three of us, and I can honestly say I have no idea who will win in this election. I can say that although I do not agree with all the campaign ideas put down by my opponents. I can say that I respect them for what they have done for our country, and for the work they have put forth in this campaign.

Some have said that they cannot vote for me because of how little I have campaigned during this election. Some say, “How can I vote for a man when I dont even know what he stands for” well if anyone has been around they have undoubtedly stumbled across something that I have written, or my ideals. At any rate I feel it is only fair to outline my views and plans on the issues that face our country. Along with my VP we decided that a traditional campaign isn’t necessary in our political field we have today, and as such have run things very differently. What follows are my plans, thoughts, and ideals for my term as president. These are honest answers, and not lofty campaign promises or political flavored fluff manufactured to turn you to my cause.

Our Economy
Eh... its alright. It could be Much better, but we are not running for the hills yet. As president it is my job to fix things. They will get better on their own, but I don’t think our citizens should have to sit through presidents just sitting around waiting for it to get better on its own. We can fix things in a few proactive ways, but we are going to need to decide on what we want to get done, and in what order. We have an weak dollar which is falling more so even as we speak. We have a depleted Gold reserve as of the result of the war, and we have good that are still pricer than we would like. These problems need to be fixed, but we have relatively few ways of doing that. To fix our exchange rate we only have two options. We need to either buy USD off the market, or we need to raise our taxes in nearly every industry. Now I know that noone likes high taxes. I know I dont, I have lost thousands of USD this month in taxes through operating my business. Its a serious pain, but it will probably need to be done to a degree. I am going to work on a comprehensive industry by industry tax plan that will be proposed to congress after the elections have begun. The other option is to simply buy the USD with our gold from our treasury, this sounds like a great plan as our citizens get more GOLD and we get a stronger dollar, but the US gov would need Thousands more GOLD that we simply dont have, for it to take effect. I am feel proper market manipulation through the FED is an effective tool, but it cannot be relied on as our only control method. Another thing that will need to be reigned in during my term will be government spending. Although we will continue to purchase DS/Hospital systems to ensure the stability of our economy, we need to seriously trim the budget. Once our economy and exchange rate has reached a fair exchange rate the government can begin to be slightly more liberal in its spending of USD. I cannot pretend to say exactly how long this will take, and I cannot lay down step by step plans for the economy for my entire campaign. The reasons I cannot is because they would be lies. No one can lay down those steps, because they would be lying as well. The economy is a massive thing, even in erepublik, and it is currently and always changing. I cannot predict today how we will be in a month from now, but I can promise you I am equipped in ready for every situation.

Our Military
Our Army needs work, but it has always needed work. The history of the eUS military is one of revision after revision, and they haven’t always been beneficial ones. I am not a pessimist though, I will say that our army has improved significantly over the course of its lifetime and that we have some great men working in it currently. I feel as president it is my job to improve its efficiency, ensure they always have the proper funding, and to enforce the structure and power of the army. It is not my place to micromanage the army and the generals. That is something I will not do. I will not sit here and type out every single level our military and how it needs to be changed, and I also do not intend on reworking the entire military. Any unneeded change will simply cause more confusion and further destroy the order we are trying to establish. I will not write it all down because I feel our boys in the army have a say in that and I will sit down with my military advisors, our Generals, and the CJCS and work out exactly how we can streamline our military. Make it much more efficient and better for all of us. I can say that I plan on simplifying things, and not on expanding them. We dont need to add complexity to confusion.

Our Alliance
ATLANTIS, our alliance, our friends, our allies. Many things have been said of our Alliance, but being one of the founding members of this alliance. I am proud to be a part of it, we are the strongest alliance in the world in my personal opinion and although we do have things to work on (recognizing time zone differences), we are heading in the right direction. It will be my position as President to ensure the US is heard in ATLANTIS as it has been in the past and to secure the safety and economy prosperity of our allies. Not really much more to say, unless you have questions.

Out Future
Growth, Strength, Propserty, and Fun. What else could you really wish for in a future for our nation? In the coming month as President I plan on instituting the Statistical Analysis Development Committee. More details on what exactly that is will be released if I win the presidency. Time will tell.
