[Presidential Adress] The Spanish American War
DMV3
My fellow Canadians,
During all the discussions going on regarding joining CoT it was alluded to by me that despite the fact that the war between Spain and Mexico had been downgrade to a Training War the damage to their relationship with Mexico and the US had been done and things were changing. Today Spain made this point loud and clear by initiating an Natural Enemy Proposal against the US, and the US has proposed their own Natural Enemy Proposal against Spain. Now I had been informed that I should be expecting this to happen from my contacts in the US, but due to the sensitive nature of the information I was unable to share it with the people of Canada.
This my friends is our opportunity to show our American brothers what Canada is made of and that we can help our friends while still honoring our word to Spain. At this time I have no intention of violating our agreement with Spain, but I will still help our American friends in anyway we possibly can. In any relationship there are events that can either change things for the better or for the worse. This war is one of those events for Canada, we have a chance to prove to the world that we will stand by our friends in their time of need,
I know some of you are not happy with the NAP, but I would like to ask you for patience as breaking the NAP is not in Canada’s interest at this time. I have been in close contact with our friends and allies in CoT and I will remain in close contact with them during this conflict to ensure we are able to further our relationships and help them in anyway we possibly can.
Long Live Canada!

this sounds like a repeat of the initial invasion of eUSA, and the government did not seem very happy that we were helping them, Tenshibo was rather cold in his dealing with the eCanada government at that time.So we are about to do it again and hope they realize how good we areas allies again hmmm..... me thinks its time for a change?
Tenshibo was an awful President. I love him as a person, but absolutely awful as a President. The US realizes we're good allies at this point and believe it our not have been happy about our renewed relationship.
Believe me, Tenshibo is in no way representative of the eAmerican people. Shit tier CP right there.
Long Live the US!
Long Live Canada!
Long Live CoT!

It is unfortunate that eCan had to sign the NAP in the first place, if only we had more support from our friends during our time of need. Perhaps I shouldn't say "friend", more like, "Fairweather Johnson".
I am not interested in a booty call

Thanks for helping us in our time of need against our common foes! The American people truly appreciate the help of our northern neighbors, no matter how much that support may amount to. It's always a great sight to look up at the battle screen and see Americans and Canadians fighting alongside each other.
Now let's go kill some Pig-Disgusting Double Spaniards!
Hail Canada!
Hail USA!
Hail CoT
Lol'd at this. "Common foes"? eUS have been buttbuddies with eSpain for nearly two years and in that time watched them torment Canada for the past 8+ months -- and done nothing. Now eCanada have worked a treaty with eSpain after many months of negotiation, regained some regions, secured their congress for the foreseeable (and possibly even a future ally) -- yet eSpain NE the eUS and suddenly this is a problem "common" to both the eUS and eCanada -- as though everything that's happened since CTRL should be dismissed???
eSpain is not eCanada's "foe". eSpain and eCanada are at peace.
Just saying.
The eUS as a whole has not been butt-buddies with eSpain. At most, eAmericans have been amicable towards Spain. Many wanted to help the Canadians, especially the people of the MU's in US-AIM, who repeatedly freed regions. However, longstanding members of the eUS government have been buddies of Spanish leaders. After all, decent relations with Spain have been beneficial to relations with nations like Brazil and Chile, who have been friendly to Spain. Invading Spanish territory could have harmed relations with those nations and may have invited full scale invasion long before the outbreak of World War VI. After all, Poland certainly wouldn't sit back and watch us try to take away Spain's resources. That could have easily led to both Canada and the USA being wiped.
Yet, however friendly people or members of the government have been towards Spain, it doesn't change the fact that Spain is a member of TWO: the enemy alliance which has invaded/conquered most of the USA. They are allied with those who have invaded the US, and they are an enemy.
Also, signing an NAP does not mean that two nations are no longer foes or enemies. If the eUSA were to sign a treaty with Serbia or Poland, they would still be seen as foes. The USA and Serbia were "at peace", bordering each other on the map, for several months until we declared war on May 26th. Yet, we were still enemies. Just because the nations are "at peace" does not mean that they are no longer opposed to one another.
@Derp
You look funny when you backpedal with egg on your face.
"The eUS as a whole has not been butt-buddies with eSpain. At most, eAmericans have been amicable towards Spain."
What counts is the gov position. And they've been rabidly proSpain as well you know. What the average eAmerican thought of eSpain has had zero impact on policy. As usual. You's even joined CoT without engaging the populace beforehand after all.
"Many wanted to help the Canadians, especially the people of the MU's in US-AIM, who repeatedly freed regions."
"Most wanted to help the Canadians..." but didn't. Some AIM MUs leant a hand on a couple occasions, mostly tho it was PG and eCanadian nationals. At one point I do believe US-AIM were even officially reprimanded by the eUS gov for hitting for Portugal against Spain -- sounds a little more than "amicable" to me.
"After all, decent relations with Spain have been beneficial to relations with nations like Brazil and Chile, who have been friendly to Spain."
So eUS were keeping eSpain sweet in order not to damage relations with eBrazil? Really? I'd say that was unlikely, but knowing Brazil there's probably some truth in it. Still, seems a crap situation having to keep a TWO founder ["the enemy", according to you] sweet just to maintain good relations with what's purportedly your "no.1 ally." I could level the same criticism at Chile, they're in your alliance but maintaining good relations with them required allowing eSpain to do as they will to a former TERRA for nearly a year...? Pffft...
"Invading Spanish territory could have harmed relations with those nations and may have invited full scale invasion long before the outbreak of World War VI."
Who said anything about invading Spanish territory?? I believe this centres on freeing eCan cores, not invading Spain. Also, the invasion of the eUS was gonna happen in the summer and it was gonna happen no matter what. I also don't think this is a "World War" -- its an invasion of the eUS and eRussia, otherwise same old. THIS is how things are going to be from now on, because CoT have neither the dmg nor the nous to deal with TWO.
"After all, Poland certainly wouldn't sit back and watch us try to take away Spain's resources."
They sat back and done precisely that before. What your saying is it was in the eUS's best interests NOT to help free Canadian cores -- in case Poland decided to invade the eUS as punishment? The definition of sh*t ally right there.
"Yet, however friendly people or members of the government have been towards Spain, it doesn't change the fact that Spain is a member of TWO: the enemy alliance which has invaded/conquered most of the USA. They are allied with those who have invaded the US, and they are an enemy."
LOL!!!!! So, its only taken you 8 months to figure that one out? Weren't you "secretary of defence" in the eUS -- and it never occurred to you THEN that eSpain = TWO = the enemy???
@Derp, ya " Invading Spanish territory could have harmed relations with those nations and may have invited full scale invasion long before the outbreak of World War VI." well now you're close to wipe by these nations so eUSA allowed eCan to be wiped for so long just to prolong the inevitable, great friends.
How about you name names of what eUSA government officials favoured eSpain?
"Also, signing an NAP does not mean that two nations are no longer foes or enemies.
Weak argument. eCanada and eSpain ARE AT PEACE, whether you like it or not. Just like the eUS and eSpain were in what amounted to peace for nearly two years. Argue semantics if you wish, but them's the facts. The examples you give are silly. eCanada didn't just suddenly establish the NAP with eSpain because they shared a border, they've been fighting eSpain for MORE THAN EIGHT MONTHS, every day, repeated eCan governments have been negotiating with their eSpanish counterparts leading up to the NAP, this has been going on through multiple administrations, after repeated wipes, losing congress I don't know how many times -- so equating the eUS "bordering" eSerbia with what's went on with eCanada and eSpain is such nonsense! eCanada and eSpain have a hard won peace, something that will not be boiled down to how you define it. There's no comparison. And labelling eSpain "enemies" of eCanada is just stirring the pot, nothing else. eCanada fought HARD for the concessions they won from eSpain, they proved themselves an unbelievable pain in Spain's arse. Perhaps if you'd fought in any of the demoralising defeats these past 8 months you'd understand that.
The fact is the eUS-Spain w/e it was was good for TWO and good for the eUS ONLY because whoever's pulling the strings in the eUS thought something substantial would one day come from the unofficial NAP, and they thought sacrificing old allies was worth it. Apparently not. And it was good for TWO because the BrUSA-Spain border was TWO's biggest weakpoint, which eSpanish wiles turned into a strength.
Phew, that's a lot of posting. I'll see if I can address most of it in a short manner, as to not clutter up this article:
-Yes, the gov't had been much more Pro-Spain than Pro-Canada following the deterioration of Canadian-American relations.
-I saw plenty of people from the USA fighting in those battles, regardless of what the gov't or MU CO's said. They weren't just just PG-affiliated soldiers, either.
-Everyone knows Spain and Brazil have been close friends. They are so close that Brazil has declared neutrality in the war between USA and Spain.
-"Who said anything about invading Spanish territory?" Sorry, that's my fault for not clarifying. When I said territory, I was including occupied territory, such as Canada.
-I said WWVI, because that is how it has been classified on the wiki. Otherwise, we don't have much of a name for the conflict besides "CoT v. TWO."
-I'd assume that Spain-Poland relations were stronger than that. They do tout their "eternal friendship" after all. You have to remember that Western Europe was fairly stagnant until we tried to invade Serbia. Poland, Spain and Serbia all sat on our borders, making for easy conquest, should we give them reason to invade. Plus, US-Canada relations were not as far along back then as they are now. Although ideas were tossed around, people were not as inclined to help Canada at the time the ideas were discussed. By the time people had become more inclined to helping Canada, the war between CoT and TWO had begun.
-No, it didn't take me 8 months to figure that out. Spain had always been an enemy to me, having NE'd Spain as CP of Canada about year ago when they were in CTRL. Also, I was not Secretary of Defense. I was the Secretary of State and I was in constant communication with the MoFA of Canada during that time.
-I do like that Canada is at peace with Spain. I had long advocated for an NAP.
-I fought in several of those "demoralizing defeats." Worst being the failed airstrike.
As for Spain and Canada not being enemies, many people in the community still view Spain as an enemy.
This quote stood out to me:
"Spain is the enemy. Not the babysitter. They should at the very least be see as hostile, not honorable deal brokers. Anyone that has ever had the distinct displeasure of actually dealing with them knows were I'm coming from." - Foxfire
A simple NAP after 8 months of grueling combat is not going to change the hearts and minds of a community overnight. Not even a formal alliance can change opinions that quickly, as we saw with CTRL in USA.
I'd stay out of it. Last thing Spain wanna see if eCan MU's fighting against em... You'll be giving em a reason ti hold you under again. This time TWO wont step in and save you.
We are allowed to fight for our allies without breaking the NAP.
eSpain is also allowed to not renew the NAP next month and wipe us for another year... Why give them the ammo and reasons to do that?
Foreign affairs is key here. There is the letter of the agreement and the spirit of the agreement and we don't have the might to be on the wrong side of either. Clarify this.
What can we possibly do at this point? The dice have already been cast. The MPP's are in place. We did not anticipate this happening, but we have no control over where are citizens fight. All we can do is make sure we don't break the NAP. We did clarify that we are allowed to make MPP's with who we want and were free to do with our foreign affairs as we wish.
Your going down the same road that got you wiped in the first place. The last time you guys had regions the eWorld was a very different place. Stop looking to the past and start building a new future.
exactly what Wayne is saying, Stop with the stubborn pride and take in the reality of the situation
We have like 200 active citizens I would guess. We are not going to effect the out come of this war. I have suggested we consider declaring neutrality.
It was a relief for Canada to get back its regions after a long negotiation. The deal is far from fair. The Spaniards were the invaders and still occupying these regions for zero rent and on top of that, they were paid a only one time tribute. Whatever the deal was, Canada is back on the map. Something that our allies have to understand, it is that making an act that under the Spaniards eye sound like provocation, the deal may be ended, with all the terrible consequences that all the living Canadians know.
Spain is a bully, yes, we lived for 8 months, and it was not funny. It is really hard to accept, but they are the ones who are making the rules, because they are the superpower, along with Poland.
What fellow Americans can expect from fellow Canadians? They can expect the support of the most determined and brave soldiers. Canada can support war effort against Poland. But the idea of suggesting a NE to Poland or Spain, it is just inconvenient and very dangerous

Freedom Fritatas for everyone!
So t-minus when, until eSpain decides we have broken the terms of the NAP and decides we oughta be wiped again? This is not gonna end well.
http://goo.gl/oFnqST Sad day when I agree with Quimbie
We will be there for sure.
We are screwed, basically, because of the position we are in. We have little choice but to help the eUSA. We have to help our friends to the South and in so doing, we will, once again, piss off the Spaniards, who once they have run ram shod through the States (with the help of the Poles), will set their greedy eyes North and rewipe us.
The circle continues... this game blows.
nope. We can always withdraw from CoT.
what a shocking proposal 😃
That is the thinking of an utter mad man! lol 😛
Man I don't know if we should go against Spain, even indirectly, without any kind of plan. Maybe we should wait a bit longer before throw our support for a nation that (at least officially) didn't care about us.
Just my half-cent
Good Luck! We are going to need it. (All of us.)

I'll pass.
Where were our so called brothers for 8 long months?
