[Presidential Address] An Update and Our Future

My fellow Canadians,
You're government has been hard at work for you over the last week. We've passed tax breaks, put together an immigration article which we have begun publishing in other ntaions, worked on restarting and creating welfare programs, and putting in a lot of work building friendships abroad.
Canada can into Space:
Starting next week Canada will be launching our first organized rocket program, but before we do that we need your help. We will be providing funds to help reimburse division one and two players for building rocket factories and we will be providing supplies to build rockets on a daily basis to increase our impact on division one and two in battles. We're asking all Canadians with surplus Q1-6 weapons or extra currency to make donations to Minister of Internal Affairs Utat.
Foreign Affairs:
Yesterday I met with the Spanish President, his MoFA staff, and their Minister of Defense to discuss relations between our nations and our NAP. The meeting had a good tone and we had promised to stay in touch regarding the NAP and improving relations. Towards the end of our meeting, I was informed by their President that they have no issue with us starting RWs in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island during the contest as long as we do not win those battles.
Three days ago I began talks with eUS President Oblige and CoT Supreme Commander Potato134 on the possibility of improving our relations with both the eUS and CoT. I was informed by both gentlemen that should we wish to join CoT that they would be in favor of that move. I began talks with my Cabinet and Congress about the move shortly there after, and after everyone weighed in on the idea I pushed forward with the proposal by asking Congress to vote on the proposal to join CoT. Yesterday Congress overwhelming approved plans to move forward with membership in CoT and I officially asked for Canada to be consider for membership.
On Saturday I will be attending the CoT summit to make our case for membership and they will vote on our application at that time. Our MoFA team has been in contact with every CoT CP and MoFA to see where they stand on our admittance and so far the responses have all been positive. Now, this does not ensure our admittance when it is put to a vote, but I'm very confident that we will receive approval at the summit.
I know some of you may be opposed to joining an alliance since we have just left Asgard, but I can ensure you this is the best Foreign Policy move for Canada at this time. It will gain us friends which we will need to move forward, and it will encourage a stronger relationship between us and our long-time bro the eUS.
You're government has been hard at work for you so far this term and will continue to work hard for you for the remainder of the term. As always we merely ask for your support and we hope that everyone will put Canada first.

The damage is the easy part, I just wished Plato hadn't changed the rules so I was fighting for Canada in the contest instead of the US.

May I ask if CoT membership precludes other alliances with individual nations or such other alliances as might be now or in the future?
The only stipulation CoT has about signing MPPs is that you can not sign a MPP with a nation currently at war with a CoT nation.

join CoT when they are in a major war vs TWO? CoT did not want eCanada when we were fighting eSpain but now that we have dmg to give they will have us? I think this could be a dangerous plan and I hope people will vote to stay out of CoT and to further eCanada's own interests now instead of potentially putting eCanada at risk from Poland or another TWO nation.
I believe it is only the 6 man congress team that gets to vote or has already voted, not the people

Three days ago, u asked congress and U wish to tell us now about this proposal ? A survey should have been sent out to the public to see what they wish for. Damn Americans, Using cheap politics since ever! *example: Obama signing of the National Defense Authorization Act on the Januaray 1st when everyone was partying and weren't aware of it*. You are becoming like him :/
As a citizen, and I believe I share this idea with many others, But I Request the government and the small group that is called *congress* to reevaluate alliance options with the people and cancel the trial with CoT. (by the way not all congress were also aware of it too, I know some congressmen that were completely shocked about this proposal and said that they weren't aware of i)

If we're going to restart the brolliance, I'm all for it.
Given the reality of our geography I think that the Brolliance is more important to eCan than any other foreign affairs. Also lets face it, right now CoT is the eWorlds only chance at resisting TWO, if we don't join CoT we will be fighting alongside them anyway. Do I like the idea of joining CoT NO I DO NOT!!, but at this point I think it is a necessary evil.
DMV, thank you for leading us in a direction that eCanada needs, and not the one we all want, (that is the difference between a good politician and a good leader).

As for "continuing" to help those fighting TWO without being locked in the CoT alliance, it isn't woking now, we need more coordination and organization that I just don't see working without formal cooperation.
Well was it a necessary evil for the holocaust to occur, NO!. No evil is necessary, it is us who justifies into making those evils. A country with no sense of information on what is going on is like a herd of sheep guided by blind dog, both don't know where they are going, so don't try and justify his actions
"necessary evils" is an expression, in this case very clearly referring to something that would be otherwise undesirable, not to something immoral.
Comparing an alliance in a game to nazi genocide in order to try and give your position more weight in a discussion is uncalled for.
I believe your point probably was that you think you are being kept in the dark and missing information about the issues, if that is the case try asking, nicely for the information, from a variety of sources it tends to get much better results then venting frustrations in the media (although I admit it isn't as fun).
I think there was a servey during one of Homer's mandates that showed at least half of the people want to join CoT. But I'm not sure, so don't take my word as a law.
But I also remember that there was a issue with your war with Spain where countries of ROLA wanted you to have NAP first...
