[NN] Urgent appeal: don't be a sheep, vote independently!
Mattio
This article is addressed to all Dutch citizens who are going to vote tomorrow. It is not addressed to Kordak as a person or as a candidate, though I friendly invite him to debate on this opinion article with me in an orderly way, as I believe nothing is more important than open dialogue and discussion. I respect Kordak as a player and as a person, and I want him to know that I like his activities and that I liked our moments of conversation in the past. I can only hope he sees me in the same way and that none of this will damage our relationship.
Dear reader,
I am going to do something I have never done before, because I believed it was someone else’s job. Today, however, I feel an urge that is great enough to force me into writing this. I am publicly expressing my support for a CP candidate. Not because he is of my own party – party politics shouldn’t matter in CP elections – but because of an un-ignorable fear of what is to become of our country.
In practice, the influence of a CP is not really that big, especially now that we have a Dictatorial button pusher who does whatever Congress tells him to do. The only real power a CP has is that he can appoint a MoFA who will, together with him and his VP, will be the face of our country, and a MoD who will coordinate our military. CP elections seem to be a larger thing than they are and, honestly, it is not an unimportant job nor an easy one. I know from my own experience that not everyone is suited to be a CP. I’m not, for one. I like to be active for my country and my community, but I do not want to be that person whom it all comes down to when push comes to shove.
It is important to know whether you would make a good CP or not and act upon that wisdom. It is also important to know whether the person you are voting for would make a good CP or not. Most of the time, CP’s were chosen who did a good job. We had some excellent CP’s in the past, we also had some mediocre ones and we had some rare incidents with people who got permanently banned for some reason. Tomorrow, however, I foresee an election result that could very well turn out to be a great danger to our society, the solidarity and fellowship in our community, as well as our international position.
Day 2,723: Kordak vs Legendardisch
With the support of ReL, GPN and his own VN, Kordak is running for the position of Country President. His only opponent is Legendardisch, former I&W member and now a member of DemNL, the only supporting party. For the sake of honesty and integrity, I will immediately tell you that at first sight, I did not like any of both candidates. They can be fierce at times and they share a history of stubborn and counter-productive behavior. But to get back to what I said about knowing yourself: the difference between them is that one of them knows this about himself and is willing to change, and he already is doing so.
In his article ‘Post Production’ (Day 2,722), Legendardisch writes: ‘Yes I too have tendencies to be fiery and all, but I try to keep it down and there has been an improvement, but Kordak can be unstable, and I question the following, can he and will he put the interests of the eNetherlands before that of his own?’
Events in the past have shown us that Kordak finds it very hard to distinguish his personal weight and that of our community. He believe that his position as Vice President under Fhaemita III was a justification to give his real life girlfriend Dutch citizenship even after justified denial by our MoHA. He later took upon himself the ideal to become neutral dictator – which is his and any player’s right – and turned the Congress decision into a political election by sending out campaign PM’s.
On a more personal note and also to make clear that I am against Kordak’s CP candidacy instead of against him as a person, I must say that I have had the joy to talk with Kordak personally and this really pleased me. However, I would vote for a Country President tomorrow, not for a friend.
And I urge all and everyone to do the same. Make your own decision. Do not blindly follow your party. Vote for a candidate, a Country President, a leader who makes no concessions to his duty and who will not put himself in front of the people he swears to protect, guide and lead.
You now know where I stand. I believe Legendardisch is a passionate and responsible player. He may be inexperienced, he may be foolish at times, but at least he knows this and he has surrounded himself with an experienced and trustworthy team to aid him.
But it's your turn now. Think for yourself, inform yourself about the candidates and vote - independently of what your party says.
Thank you. I salute,
Comments
I took my own decision and that's kordak as CP, I like his proposal, I like the way he wants a relationship with another countries, but most important I'm independent of what my party says.
or in this case what people says. kordak4CP
I can only say this warms my heart, to see someone actually voting against his party because he believes otherwise. Thanks for showing the good example and I hope you stay in DemNL and may even become more active? 🙂
"In practice, the influence of a CP is not really that big, especially now that we have a Dictatorial button pusher who does whatever Congress tells him to do."
Incorrect, the CP can give the Dictator direct orders. The Dictator has to execute them.
"The Dictator of the eNetherlands will execute legal decisions and bills (as per the Lawbook of the eNetherlands) made by Congress and/or the Government."
You are right on this one, but it does decrease the CP's power. Then again, it is a way to dodge the normal game mechanics. The CP could order the dictator to unleash hell and only 1 vote (the DC's vote) would be needed.
Exactly
But he can delay that vote until congress has had some time to react...
If the CP orders something no one agrees with, it probably will not have any permanent in-game effects (except for a vote that was started).
In that sense, the CP does not have some special power now that he didn't have before. For everything he does he is accountable to congress.
True, but there isnt time for a forum vote.
So you're saying that common sense (and ignoring that the forum vote is not finished yet) is not good enough...
I think I agree. We should alter the lawbook so that all votes should be started on-forum before they're started in-game, with no extensions allowed, even if the forum is offline for hours, or no one votes.
In-game rules were that one vote was enough, if the other 40 didn't vote at all.
"I believe Legendardisch is a passionate and responsible player. He may be inexperienced, he may be foolish at times, but at least he knows this and he has surrounded himself with an experienced and trustworthy team to aid him."
He wants stability and political peace, but what he does is having a dirty campaign. I could have done that too with info I had, however I don't take part of dirty games like that. I believe in a small government and I hope people will support that no matter what. That has nothing to do with party politics or so. Besides of that he has shown to be disrespectfull to his own party, by sharing private messages here of his party president. His party Democratisch Nederland had it's party president resigned because of this whole situation. I don't let people fall, I take responsibility for the things I do. He won't do that I am afraid. He makes promises he won't follow, I take action by keeping my own campagn fair. People should decide based on the ideas of candidates, I believe that our citizens are smart enough to decide themselves. I trust our country to choose what is best. o7
Thanks for your reaction Kordak. I too believe that our citizens are wise enough to make an independent decision, hence this article appealing to them to do so. In the past, we voted based on what our party told us and this is a bad thing. Every citizen should have the freedom to vote anonymously for the candidate he supports.
The reason Spir Tus resigned is not because Legendardisch "dropped him", but because Spir Tus did not believe he could be the PP to support Legendardisch. He made a tough but wise decision and I hope he is okay with it that I here share his motivation to resign.
This does not mean DemNL no longer supports Legendardisch. In fact, we had a strong debate on the matter because we, too, saw the urgency to make clear Legendardisch learns from previous behavior and luckily he himself told us that he is nothing but willing to do so.
You say Legendardisch makes promises he doesn't follow, but I do not know any example of this. I share the idea that his previous article was a bit dary, but I would not call it dirty. There is no mud throwing in there and there is no wrong in pointing out the misqualities of your opponent - you do exactly the same. 😉
I wish both of you the best of luck in these elections.
And so opinions differ, also I know him some longer. 😉 Thank you for wishing me good luck.
Mattio is right. I resigned because of my personal incapability to support Legendardisch in public, while I'm not supporting him personally. Our relationship is somewhat troubled and I won't stand in the way of our CP candidate and my party. In fact, the party still supports Legendardisch unquestionable. It's the best for DemNL to resign now, and let the party carry on with the campaign.
Sad to see that Spir Tus had to resign over these dirty games of Legendardisch.
Legendardisch a person who has never added any value to E-NL and will never. A person who can not even be bothered to train and work every day. A person who has jumped from party to party in order to be the presidential candidate (his only goal in the game.)
I can not believe DemNL can support such a person who has been with them for 5 minutes either, so it only makes sense that Spir Tus can't either.
Bring back the Monkey I say!
please read before you post.
So sad for SpirTus but i know you thinked a lot before doing this. Sad that this happend.
Well I even i am in ReL i was thinking about tomorrow choice. Now i know, it will be Kordak.

Baa, meh, baa, meh.
Dear Mattio, this article would have made sence if you voted Kordak yourself. Now you are just following party lines.
btw, You forgot to mention that Legendardisch has been a member of every single political party, not only I&W before joining DemNL.
