[MoI] Double UK government interview - MoF WookieO and MoFA Sambo223

Day 2,794, 03:48 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Max Blue
In this article I am going to be speaking to the UK Minister of Finance WookieO. I ask WookieO if players should be working/not working, buying goods from the marketplace, what the UK is looking like finance wise and the MoF's plans for the future. I also talk to Minister of Foreign Affairs Sambo223 (Fataliix being the other MoFA), and I ask, what can the UK population do to help bring the wipe to an end.

Minister of Finances - WookieO

1) Should I buy goods from the UK marketplace? If not which marketplace?

1) I would still recommend buying from the UK marketplace, preferably from UK citizens that you personally interact with, so that you know you're helping out a friend as well as keeping the UK's economy ticking over even during a wipe.

2) Should I work in my companies?

2) If you have companies then I would still work in them as a manager, especially if you need the products you produce to keep fighting. I would however suggest if you have employees, that you refrain from using them in your factories until we have regained our bonuses.

3) How is the UK generating enough money to support itself during the wipe?

3) Before we negotiated a region back from the Argentinians, we were bringing in the base income of 20% of all tax revenue that is allowed to a wiped nation. On the first day of having Yorkshire back under our control our income from the UK's tax revenue has increased to just under 27%.

However from looking at the figures we are still not bringing anything like what we used to. (Picture taken at 03:20 erepublik time on Day 2,794.)

We have money coming in, albeit nowhere near the levels we had pre-wipe. If tax income stabilises at this level, we'll bring in around £20K during the rest of this term. This will be enough to finance a couple of MPPs and stop us from going completely bankrupt, at least for this month.

4) What are the MoF's plans to finance the future of our nation?

4) There's not a huge amount the Ministry of Finance can do to generate income at the moment. The money sitting in the treasury is needed to sign the MPPs we will need with our allies if we are to ever extract ourselves from this situation. So money market fishing is not really on the cards.

We have been renting out some of our spare orgs which is bringing in a small income, about enough to sign another MPP currently.

The future of our nation however will, I imagine, depend on the richer citizens amongst us. Even during my relatively short time as an eUK citizen I have seen that this nation has benefited from having wealthy benefactors on a few occasions and I believe we will need those people to step up again if we are to continue signing MPPs with our allies in order for us to eventually take back our regions from Argentina.

Minister of Foreign Affairs - Sambo223

1) What can the UK population do to help the nation during this wipe (foreign affairs wise)?

1) The best thing that the eUK population can do to help our nation in foreign affairs is to partake in our allies key battles. This is why we sign MPPs, so that eUK citizens can directly help our allies on the battlefield. The more we help out of allies, the more we get in return and to be honest it's the best form of diplomacy. For example, the reason relations have been good with Ireland recently (let's forget about any treaties with Argentina for now) is because of our efforts in their Dictatorship battles.

2)What do you think is the best course of action for the UK (foreign affairs wise)?

2) The UK needs to keep going in the same direction to an extent. We have some good allies and we don't want to lose any however looking to improve our MPP stack is something we are constantly doing in the MoFA. Sadly with how the world works at the moment it is easier said than done but that won't stop us.

3) What will this Ministry be doing this term? (any schemes or 'tricks' up your sleeves, or plans for talks/articles/anything else)

3) Well there's some ideas here and there, some more solid than others and sadly there isn't much I can really tell you at the moment. However any news we have will be released either by the MoFA or the CP in their update articles. Hopefully we'll have an article out in the next few days. We are constantly talking to our allies and mass meetings are becoming more common.
