[MoHA] Prime Minister's Questions + Pretty stuff.

Day 1,612, 10:43 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by eUK Home Office

Welcome to the Prime Minister's Questions logs article, this wil be done every time after a PMQ, to ensure a wider audience and the access of information for those who could not attend or do not partake in IRC activities. Here's the cleaned up logs.

ApronChef:
[Jason Farmer] [Via Article Comment] There is no consistency in publications by the eUK Government - some post principally on the eUK forums with no mention of important info on erepublik.com. Why can't all the eUK ministries run Newspapers on erepublik.com for their principal announcements?

Talon Karrde:
Hey all, nice to be back into the swing of things with PMQs again.

A nice opening question from Jason that I did see in game, but didn't answer at the time. My main reason for doing so was in not accepting the premise of the question. He says there's no mention of important info in game, but I'd disagree with that- I've purposely put the important stuff in game. For the rest of the info, there are two reasons it's not in game- the first is sensitivity, in that I have no interest in sharing military plans and the like in game, nor on public parts of the forum, and I suspect that's a large part of what he's interested in. The second reason is that it's rather boring. A lot of the MoF stuff. And the MoHA stuff doesn't really interest the real game population. If they were the type to go for that kind of thing, the chances are they'd also be on the ofrum or IRC anyway to be able to partake. That said, the MoHA, the MoFA, the MoF and the MoD have all released articles in game, especially the MoD with daily orders articles, so I disagree with his premise there too- the ministries do indeed run newspapers, but don't all post daily. When I was MoHA I went down the daily article route, and the general feedback was that it was p dull and p pointless

ApronChef:
Wonderful answer.
Moving onto question 2.
[BMThatcher] [Via IRC] Has the government considered creating a Facebook ad fund?

Talon Karrde:
We've done it in the past and ran into two main problems- finding someone we trust enough to give money to, and finding donors. Generally speaking people were unwilling to part with money for such a scheme, so it relied on one person paying. There was talk at the time of asking tanks etc to see if they'd be willing to front the cash for some, and in return they'd get the society builder gold etc from the referral links, that falls apart pretty quickly these days since we don't have any real tanks! So no, my government hasn't considered it really, but that isn't to say we won't support one if someone is willing to organise it.

ApronChef:
Another excellent answer, now to roll over to question 3.
[nwg] [Via IRC] I just wanted to ask why we allowed eUSA to border our home regions so quickly knowing they now how 5 days to attack our home regions before they can change NE. Surely it would have been better to carry on taking and eUSA recapping Canadian regions then have them move in on our own and messing around with our own bonuses just wanted to get your thoughts on why you think it’s easier to fight and loose our regions and RW them back then to keep moving around and then be cut off in eCanada?

Talon Karrde:
All I can say here really is that international politics are complex and I got a good result for the country. More after the fact, maybe!

ApronChef:
Great, moving onto question 5.
[Anoymous] [Via IRC] The relations with eCanada have been getting worse, and Trentonius the current Country President of eCanada. What has been contributing factors to the personal decline in relations between you and Trentonius? Rather than taking a eCountry to eCountry perspective.

Talon Karrde:
He didn't like me from day one to be honest. Just like in real life, some relationships just work and some just don't, this seems to be one of those. It doesn't seem to have been a problem though. I'd also disagree that its relations with eCanada that have been getting worse, just relations with Trent. The two don't really equate.

ApronChef:
Okai, number 6.
[nwg] [Via IRC] I see that according to eCanada's own published daily fighting orders there saying for people to get ready to RW NFL. Doesnt this go against the agreements made. and thus have to ask do eCanada agree to the usa blocking them from us or will this have to be enforced?

Talon Karrde:
Oh eCanada. Unfortunately their current administration doesn't agree with the eUSA's position on war with us, it seems, and thus is sending out these orders. As to whether Canada agrees to the USA blocking them, I suspect that most of them don't, and so yes the eUSA will have to enforce this.

ApronChef:
Wonderful. Now question 7, from our foreign visitor.
[Thatcher] [Via IRC] What does he think of the Polish representatives' behaviour towards Sweden AND what they said regarding the eUK?

Talon Karrde:
I can understand a train wreck when I see one, and this sure as hell qualifies. ePoland's reaction towards Sweden was immature at best, and downright destructive at worst. That said, eSweden did and still do bring it upon themselves with their foreign policy and reaction, it did and still does seem unfathomable to me. As to what ePoland said about us, if they can't appreciate the nuance of deft political manoeuvring, that's their loss. I used my prior relationship with Artela to our advantage, and if I needed I'd do it again. Does that mean I'm in bed with her (pun intended) or would back the eUSA over our allies in ONE? No, never.

ApronChef:
Lovely, now onto question 8:
[Wayne] [Via IRC] What are the plans for the Forum? Will there be a cleanup of all topics to make it simpler and more accessible to eUK'ers?

Talon Karrde:
Yes. I've been consulting on Dan Moir on this, and we are in agreement that it does need to be much tidier, crisper. The only thing we're not sure on is how exactly to do that- I think a fresh perspective is needed. To that end I invite Wayne and anyone else that would like to, to start a thread discussing; how best to go about this, so we can get the right ideas down and enact them.

ApronChef:
Beautipul, moving onto question 56.
[Sir_Nick] [Via IRC] What will the government do regarding gross misconduct within the eUK chatroom. Will it finally grasp the situation and take complete control away from the mods and give it to someone with a fairer hand, or create a new eUK chat which is controlled by every new government and advertised in the new citizen message.

Talon Karrde:
Well first of all; I wouldn't advertise IRC in the citizen message. I think immediately bombarding them with IRC requests will put a lot of them off. The forums are more than enough, as to the chat room itself and taking control away from the mods and admins. I defy him to find me someone that has a fairer hand. The system isn't perfect, there is abuse, but it's designed so that it won't fluctuate with changing governments. That I would trust a lot less than the forum staff we have to manage a chat room. It's a complex issue and there are certainly two sides to this, but unfortunately I don't see a better alternative yet.

ApronChef:
Willy wonka perfecto; moving onto question 9001
[Anonymous] [Via IRC] During your time as CP this term, do you believe you have chosen an efficient Cabinet, if so, congratulations, if not, where would you start changes?

Talon Karrde:
Efficient, that's an unusual word to describe any cabinet. I don't think any cabinet is particularly 'efficient,' though some can be inefficient I guess. The question implies quality though, and as to whether it's a good cabinet, I'd say yes. Looking back over the applications I had, I think I have the best cabinet possible this month, and I am pleased with the work I'm seeing from them. I'd perhaps have liked a bit more volume of work in some cases, but whatever they've done has been good. We're seeing a continuation in the overall drop in activity in the whole of erepublik, and our country is no exception to this. Would some of this cabinet have been given a chance a year ago? Probably not, but they're doing well and I'm proud to have them on my team.

ApronChef:
That's all the questions I received asked, unless someone has one they can quickly pm me with, that concludes the PMQ of 18/04/2012, if you would like to give feedback, chat to me in PM and I will add it to the development and feedback notes for use to improve the future PMQs.

Big round of applause, for our CP Talon Karrde.

And that concludes the Prime Minister's Questions logs.
