[MoFA] Maple Leaf-Shamrock Accord

Day 2,362, 11:09 Published in Canada Canada by klop123

There have been few nations that have shared the same type of friendship that Ireland and Canada have shared since, what feels like, the beginning of time. We’ve wiped the UK together, battled fearsome enemies and have been closely intertwined for as long as most citizens can remember.

This brotherhood has even outlasted the famed bromance, between the USA and Canada and remains strong to this day. Here is what some citizens had to say about our friendship:

Some quotes on the Eire-eCan friendship & Accor😛

“Eire and eCanada have had a long history of friendship and of working together. While our individual circumstances have led to us being in opposing alliances both nations know that we do not wish any harm on the other. This NAP is a natural extension of our relationship.”
- DMV3, Current Canadian CP

“There has never been another two countries who have worked together in such perfect unison. The relationship between the two countries has played a large part in all the best moments I've experienced in this game. This friendship has lasted through good times and bad and it's certainly survived a lot worse things than being on opposite sides of the alliance divide. It, quite simply, is the greatest friendship the game has ever seen.”
- Irishbhoy1967, Former Irish CP

“Canada has always been Irish brother, Irish closest friend, that can't be easily changed by having our two countries in two different and opposed alliances. I'm glad our NAP is official now, even though I always knew there's no chance a war could be started between two of us. Friendship is something you find only rarely. I'm glad our survived so long.”
- Don “MUFC” Croata, Former Irish CP and first SG of Aurora

”Friends Forever”
- Bhane, Former Irish CP

"Since the two countries' came into contact, Canada and Ireland have enjoyed a friendship unlike any other. Like their real life counterparts, these two nations' fates are intertwined - so much so the Gordian Knot is a frayed string in comparison. Recent events have sadly disjointed the two, but by this accord the glory days of brotherhood can be realized once more. Long live Canadian-Irish unity."
- Bruce Lightninghands Minister of Propaganda, Canada

"I see the NAP as more than just a statement of Ireland and Canada's friendship, but somewhat as a guardian of our legacy. So many nations betray their friends for diplomatic brownie points, resources, or routes to resources. I like to think that we have a legacy of being loyal to our allies, something so few nations can state. We've taken a lot of slack for staying neutral in the past, but we refused to betray our allies on either of the alliances. Unfortunately our friendship with Canada has grown quite lately, due to our nations in different sides of the alliance spectrum. But it's still there and kicking. I think this NAP states it clearly. o7

- RA Former MoFA, Congressmember, Ireland

If you have something to add about the friendship, please do so in the comments and I will add it to the article.

Even though both nations are now on different sides of the alliance spectrum, there has always been an unspoken agreement of peace between Ireland and Canada, so we thought, why not put it in words:

The Maple Leaf-Shamrock Accord

The nations of eCanada and eIreland agree to abstain from conflicts directly affecting the other. Neither side will commit an act of aggression against the other, this is to include Embargos, Natural Enemy declarations, Resistance Wars, or Airstrikes. Our two nations will also commit to open dialogue and friendship between our governments regardless of current and future affiliations.

This agreement will last for an indefinite period with each subsequent government ratifying or discarding this agreement by their own will or volition.
