[MoEnt] What's the point?

Day 2,210, 16:38 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by eUK Home Office

After a realisation that there was no MoEnt in the cabinet despite apparently needing one, I have been promoted from the position of dMoHA to MoEnt, sorry.

In total honestly, this month is going to be difficult. I was not expecting this role when ChewChewShoe won the elections and therefore have only 2 things planned;

1) The eUK Quiz of the Month will be returning for the third time
2) A sort of community day within the eUK (more information will be released on this in the future)

To make it even more difficult, I have been told the government can’t fund MoEnt activities, so it looks like there will be no financial incentives for players to take part unfortunately, unless funding can be found elsewhere.

Is there even any point of a MoEnt

There have been questions on whether the MoEnt is a pointless ministry, and the MoEnt is seen by a lot of people in my opinion, as the least important and irrelevant out of them all. And to be honest, I agree. If there was no MoEnt, the eUK would most likely still run as it was and I bet most people wouldn’t even noticed it had gone.

BUT, I think this is because of not the purpose of the ministry, but the way in which has been run by most previous ministers, including myself last month. The MoEnt has the capacity to be the most important ministry out of them all but we overlook the main reason it exists. eRepublik is a COMMUNITY GAME. In a community you met new people, make new friends and play together. A game is something you play to have fun and enjoy. The MoEnt is meant to bring players together to have fun, the main purpose of this game. Yet from what I have seen, this has never been achieved. Of course, it is difficult to as eRepublik is so restricted, but we do not have to stay on the game itself. We have tools such as the IRC and forums to use and we can also have fun together on other sites.

The MoEnt in the past has consisted of the Minister thinking up competitions him/herself, then giving out rewards for those who took part in the ministers competition. This month I hope to change that.

Get Involved

This month, I want your input into the ministry. I want to know what you want from your MoEnt. I want eUK players to be thinking up ideas, creating events, getting involved and taking part. And the great thing about the MoEnt is all events can be opened up to a wider audience.

Of course, we will most probably have no funding from the government, but if good ideas for the MoEnt are thought up and prizes will benefit a lot of people instead of a few, I may fund projects myself and find other sources of income.

So please, if you want to get involved please do! Tell me what you want to see from your MoEnt! Tell me your ideas! Take part in MoEnt activities! Let’s make the MoEnt something great!

Or you can comment what you would like to see.

Opps

Finally, I would like to show you what unfortunately happened to the government recently. I may get in trouble for this, but it was rather amusing.

LongShotzZ, one of the vCP, created a spreadsheet document which contains planned dates of when articles are released. Unfortunately, LongShotzZ allowed editing access to anyone with a link and naturally a few players (no one knows who they are) decorated the spreadsheet.

(I had to cover up the actual information incase I got fired for releasing government plans)

At Least now LongShotzZ knows to be more careful with government docs.

That’s all from me, don’t forget get involved!
