[MoEd] Guide to...Political Parties!

Day 2,220, 08:41 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by eUK Home Office

Hello my fellow eUK citizens,

It’s LongShotzZ here -yet again- with another educational article for your people out there who don’t quite understand how political parties work and the in-game mechanics related to them.. Political parties vary -in terms of ideology-, but the mechanics behind how they work are usually all the same. So therefore I hope to teach all of you new players how they work so that if you ever intend on running for Party President or taking another prominent party position, you know what you're getting yourself into.

How Do Parties Work?

Party President Elections:

1) Political parties are run by Party Presidents who propose themselves as candidates from the 16th day of each month until the 14th day of the next.
2) On the 15th day of each month the candidates are then voted on by members of the political party in a FPTP electoral system
3) The candidate who receives the most votes becomes Party President until the next elections.

Protip: Your vote is worth a lot as if your can move political parties and vote in other Party President (PP) elections.

Congress Elections:

1) Political parties also are the base for the congressional elections with the top 5 political parties -ordered in terms of membership numbers- being able to run candidates in the elections. This leads to competition between political parties to get one of the top 5 places.
2) Members of political parties -regardless of their party’s ranking- may put themselves forwards as candidates from the 16th day of each month until the 23rd day of each month.
3) Elections follow a proportional representation system where the percentage of votes a party gets is directly converted into the percentage of seats they get.

Protip: If your party is not in the top 5 by midnight on the 24th day of the month then they will miss out. This does however make you a floating voter and people will value your vote.

What Do Party Presidents Do?

Party Presidents are in charge of -at least- the following simple tasks throughout the course of the month:

1) Party Presidents get to order the congress list for the month, moving players around so that they are in suitable places on the list.
2) Party Presidents set their party’s official support in the Country President elections -either for another party’s proposed candidate or for one of their own party’s members-.
3) Party Presidents can alter the details of their party, such as: party name, party logo and party description.
4) Party Presidents can also assign specific party members to the following party positions: Vice Party President, Secretary General, Councillor and Spokesman.

Protip: Party Presidents are usually expected to be active and to have been a member for a decent period of time to ensure they are not part of a political takeover (PTO).

What Do Party Members Do?

Members of political parties are simply charged with the task of voting in elections and actively taking part in discussions; where they feel they can.

Protip: Scout around the political parties, perhaps spending a week in each, before your decide which one to join. This will allow your to make a balanced decision.

Thank you for reading this fairly brief and general guide as to how political parties work and the mechanics behind them. This guide was designed to be easy to read and understand, if you found any parts confusing at all then please message me or leave a comment below and I will try to get back to you ASAP.

Yours sincerely,
