Day 2,417, 05:55 Published in Belgium Netherlands by Ministry of eBe Education

Dear eBelgian citizens,

Before we start with this article. We will give you an article about the first steps a young player should take in eRepublik.

◊→ You can find a lot of answers here : summary for new players.

In the previous article we told you about party elections and about Congress elections. Now we will tell you in this article more about the Presidential elections.

Who is a President?
A President is an elected leader that should embody “the spirit of the nation” for the nation itself and the world.
Having the role of chief public representative includes personifying the continuity and legitimacy of the state and exercising the political powers, functions, and duties granted to you.

How to become the President?
- First of all candidates need to be a candidate for the Presidential elections. What do they have to do for that ?
1. They need to unlock presidential feature by reaching experience level 18.
2. They need to be a party member
3. They need to be endorsed by the president of party which party is one of the top 5 parties (by number of members).
- Once they have completed all three requirements for becoming a candidate, they will also need to win the election in order to become country president

How to set up a presidential candidate?
Available in the party homepage only for the party president.
After accessing this, the party president will have available in a light window a search box where he can look for all the citizens in the country eligible to be a country President (Level 18 - minimum 410 Experience points). The search results will be listed alphabetically and near each member the experience level will appear together with his/her avatar. The username of the citizens in the search results list will be clickable. On click the citizen will be considered the presidential candidate of that party. The light window will also have a 'Cancel' button. When a Citizen is selected and proposed as a presidential candidate, he will automatically appear within the party homepage in 'Our next candidate' section.
After the candidate has been chosen, an alert is sent to him ("The President of ... decided to support you for the next country Presidential elections. Don't forget that only the candidates supported by the top 5 parties in the country will participate at the Presidential elections. See the list of top parties (list of top parties - link) in your country." ).
The party president won't be able to change the party candidate for presidency during the day of the election.

How and when do elections take place?
In Presidential elections there are a few dates all candidates and voters should pay very close attention to.
- The 2nd day of month is the last day which party presidents can set their candidates. So make sure you set your candidate before end of 2nd day!
- On the 5th day of each month, the presidential elections take place in eRepublik. You will need to visit the voting polls in order to see the list of the five presidential candidates from your country. It is there that you can place your vote (it is required to have an Adult Title in order to vote) as your mind (or heart) tells you to.
- On the 6th of the month the following takes place:
1. At 00:00 (eRepublik time) voting ends for the Presidential elections.
2. Between 00:00-06:00, results are displayed as Intermediate Results, as Admin verifies that Multi-accounts were not used.
3. The previous President remains as President until 06:00.
4. At 06:00, the most voted candidate in a country becomes the President.
5. On the elections page, the results will be changed to Official results.

What happens if country is conquered during elections?
Nothing. Presidential elections are held even if the country isn't at the map during elections.

As the president you can propose the following:

About laws:

For every proposed law, there will be a Debate link for the Congress members/President to specify a discussion area.
The Presidents can propose an unlimited number of laws.
The voting process period for each law is 24 hours.
In order for a law to pass, the majority of votes must be in-favor (in case of a tie, the law is considered to be rejected), even if only one vote has been expressed.
