[MC]UKRP party president manifesto!!

Day 1,150, 14:46 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Michael Crookes

Hello eWorld!

I’ve been putting off writing this manifesto for a number of days now but I feel it is finally time to bite the bullet and create my manifesto. It is rather long and I apologise in advance for that.

Before I start the manifesto in earnest I would just like to give you some background about myself for those of you who might not know me. Originally I joined eRepublik in May 2008 in eSouth Africa (as the friend who recommended the game to me is South African). I played for about a month before RL issues forced me to quit the game. I returned around 2 and a half months ago and since then have been working hard for the party.

Most manifestos I have seen begin with a list of the achievements of a candidate and the roles that they have held down in erepublik. Let me save everyone a lot of time by saying that if you are looking for the most experienced candidate to run the party then look elsewhere. The extent of my experience in government is two terms in congress (1 and a half actually) and the same period as an ambassador for the eUK.

However, while my list of government jobs is rather underwhelming, I have been working hard to learn about the running of the party. I have been active on the forums helping with numerous messaging campaigns to keep players informed of what is going on (I’m sure I have messaged many of my readers in this fashion). I have also written a number of articles for the party newspaper and have built up strong relations with member of other parties.

But enough about what I have done, the real question is what I intent to do.

Working together

Just realised how big this picture is :?

During Sir Humphrey Appleby’s recent CP election campaign many members of the UKRP pulled together and worked together. The result shows that when we work together we can achieve things that none of us can achieve individually.

Congress elections is always my favourite time of the month as many people become active and there is a real sense of togetherness within the party, but I would like to see this togetherness extend beyond elections. For this reason I will be looking to get as many people involved in messaging and articles as is possible. I will explain this further but first allow me to explain the roles I see in this party for the next term:

Jobs

1. Congressional whip

The congressional whip is a position which has not been fulfilled in the last couple of terms in our party. The responsibility is simple; to contact ALL UKRP congressmen to inform them every time a vote is posted in the House of Commons. This means that our voting record will be as good as possible and also allow our congressmen’s opinions to be heard.

2. Congressional director

This is another simple role in the party. The congressional director will be responsible for allocation congress candidates to a region in co-operation with the other parties in Aspect.

3. Mobile voting director

Just as the name suggest the mobile voting director will be charged with directing our mobile voters (and in particular last minute voters) as to who they should vote for. There will obviously be some delegation in this as one person can’t be expected to stay online throughout the entire of the voting process.

4. task groups (couldn’t think of a better name)

This is the new initiative which I am looking to bring in should I be lucky enough to be elected as PP. This will take more explaining than the others so please bear with me.

Over my time in the UKRP it has been clear that certain tasks have been left down to certain people too much. For example Master Hofkens has been left to organise the messaging campaigns and send lots of messages. The idea of small groups is simple; at the start of my term I will ask who is active and willing to help this term (a sign-up sheet if you like). Once everyone has signed up, I will split people down into teams and each team will be responsible for producing a number of articles and messaging campaigns at specific times.

(For example, team 1 may be tasked with an article in week 1 and a messaging campaign in week 3) It is then up to the team to fairly allocate all the jobs between themselves.

This I believe will allow different people to get involved in writing articles and sending messages. It will also break the reliance on certain members of the party doing more than their fair share of the work.

5. Party whip

Much like the Congressional whip but on a party level, the party whips job will be to inform all those who have signed up to a job of what they will have to do at the time it is to happen. For example, messaging a party member informing them that they agreed to organise the next messaging campaign

congress elections

Probably one of the biggest causes of issues between parties this term was the last minute voting. Those of you who were there will understand what I mean but for the benefit of those who were not I will explain:

Basically the issue was that there were too many people voicing opinions of where votes should go which made it very unclear as to where people were actually voting. On top of this there were a number of people in the channel who were from the BDP and in some cases they were told to vote in one place only to receive a different instruction from the BDP voting channel.

There are a number of steps I will take to remedy this. Firstly, as already stated there will be a specifically appointed director of mobile votes. It is fine for people to voice opinions to that person but ultimately what they say will be final.

Secondly, I will speak with other Party Presidents to discuss our issues in the last elections and try to find the best way to manage the elections and at the very least to ensure their members have cleared our voting channel 15 minutes before final votes are cast.

The final step I will take is to change the voting channel to a voice only channel 15 minutes before the last minute voting takes place. The only person with voice will be the person directing the votes. This will allow instructions to be given easily and effectively

Deputy Party President

Almost forgot to mention, I have asked Sir Humphrey Appleby to be my deputy and he has kindly accepted. Although I hope that he will not be required to do much in the role (I fully intend to be active throughout my term) I have no doubt that if for whatever reason I fail to be active, he will look after the party very well in my absence.

conclusion
That pretty much concludes my party president manifesto, I apologise in advance if I have missed anything. On the other hand this is my first Party President manifesto so you must go easy on mw (yes I am playing that card 😉).

If you have any questions or suggestions please comment (as I am sure you will) and thank you for allowing me this opportunity to share my ideas with the party.

I know I know

Tl;dr 🙁

Stay safe and play hard!
