[Legion] Goodnight from me, and goodnight from him

Day 2,187, 06:25 Published in United Kingdom France by Hell The Great

Today, I bring solemn news. Legion is closing. Founded over two years ago it really does go without saying that Legion has shown the UK, and the world, what military units can and should do. Since being founded we have overseen millions of pounds worth of investment to create an infrastructure that self-funded the supply of hundreds of troops daily. Even when Plato durped and our income reduced by 80% overnight, we still found the people, the time and the resources to continue to supply Legionites in their hundreds, and the fact we have done so for over a year, and without a doubt done so fantastically speaks volumes about all of those involved in the running of this great MU.

But every dog has its day, and nothing can last forever. Legion has outlasted every Government Military system since the game began, and as a going concern which regularly and consistently hits billions for the UK, is without equal, and will be for some time. For over two years we have eased the burden on Government budgets by supplying huge amounts of damage at 0 cost to the UK, and done so without ever really asking for anything. There was the Talon debacle and 'official'dom, but this was not something Legion asked for, requested, required or accepted willingly.

Whilst some spend their time and money hunting medals, complaining about certain groups or idling in IRC and moaning, Legion HQ has just got on with business, until now. To date those involved in funding Legion have donated and supplied over 6 million GBP in direct funding to create infrastructure. This infrastructure has lead to hundreds of thousands of weapons being given, millions of currency being given away, and countless people being given access to first class supplies, a politic-free community and a focus on just fighting for the UK and our allies.

But as I said, every dog has its day. Legion was not founded to replace the UK Government's military, but rather, to offer an alternative and a reason for the UK Government to offer a credible Military. Since the government of magicheroes disbanded the last remaining supplied government military, Legion has taken up the slack. Successive Governments, instead of looking to offer ways of supplying or ensuring a Military future for the UK, have instead left the heavy lifting to Legion HQ. But the few who have put everything they have into keeping things ticking over, cannot be expected to continue forever. Its time for us to move on to new challenges, and its time for others to put in the time, money and dedication that so many of us in Legion have.

The final round of supplies will be donated next Sunday (24th November).

Rewards will continue to be granted until 00:00 eRepublik time on Monday 25th November, which if my calculations are correct, is 7am UK time. The MU has, at this time, been changed to 'Invite only' and on the 25th every member will be removed from our roster to enable them to find a new home.

There are literally too many people to thank, it is impossible to put into words the pride that I have when I see what Legion has become, from the tiny 'anti government' upstart that it was first labelled as. To any, and all, who have been involved or given even a second to furthering Legion, on behalf of all of us who have helped to run it, I offer you our sincere and utmost thanks. Whilst Legion will die next Sunday, it can do so with its head held high. No-one did it like we did, and I very much doubt anyone will ever be able or willing to do it again. Over the coming days and weeks, the surplus supplies we have accumulated, and the income generated from our investments will be used to run competitions and offer prizes to all of those within our community, and to reward loyalty and service to Legion since its inception.

Its best to leave on a high, and in the spirit of this, I'll end this article here.

For one last time, Legion o/
