[Leblanc4CP] Leblanc for CP - The Voice of the Opposition (concession speech)

Day 2,358, 16:36 Published in Canada Canada by Kazuo Leblanc

By now, the returns have declared that DMV will be our next President. I wish to congratulate him on his victory and wish him well in the next month as he seeks to liberate our country. I only wish that I had not half-assed my campaign in order to offer a true competition to our new President.

I also wish to thank Thedillpickl and Comrade CptKaydee for contesting this race as well. In an election cycle that seemed all too certain of a victor, I'm glad to see that there still exists that spirit of defiance, that middle finger to the establishment that characterizes Canadian society.

It's actually fitting to talk about that because it characterizes so much of our approach to the New World. For years, regardless of whoever forms a government, whether it be the MDP, the CPF, even the DAL during my government in 2011, a cornerstone of our foreign policy has been Canadian relevance - that, even though we are not a superpower, we will have relevance and remain the director of our foreign policy. It guides our approach to the American occupation, just as it guided our approach to the previous Spanish occupation. It is a quality that remains unique in the New World after all these years and sets us apart from other similarly situated nations.

In this spirit, I've offered to DMV to form the Loyal Opposition to his government. It's a role we need in order to protect this democracy we've created. Dissent is patriotic. It challenges us to question our actions and beliefs, submits them to the crucible of debate, and lets them emerge stronger than they had before. As we prepare for our final liberation from occupation, the Loyal Opposition will be vital as we work to reestablish our country and forge a new way forward.

As someone who has ended up in this role several times, I'm happy to retake leading this opposition. It's a position I'm comfortable with, and one that I plan to wholeheartedly embrace. Though there are no medals attached to it, I see the service as reward in and of itself. Barring a Congress opening (goddamnit, I will earn that médaille câlissée) or the opening of a public school to fully integrate new players, I am happy to continue as the voice that challenges conventional wisdom.

Indeed, I can think of no better way to demonstrate my patriotism and love for this eNation.
