[Kravenn/Thomas765] Day 1849 Foreign Affairs Analysis

Day 1,849, 09:24 Published in Lithuania United Kingdom by Thomas765

Hello there

As previously mentioned, Kravenn and I are independently working on foreign affairs articles as we are both quite knowledgeable in the subject. Parts of this article were written by myself and others by Kravenn. It’s a long article so if you don’t wish to read it fully then you’re going to be in a bit of a challenge there 😛 Feel free to add either of us as a friend as well! Kravenn is currently a UK a citizen and I am a Lithuanian citizen.

Day 1847 FA Analysis

Lithuania

Sveika, eLietuva! Linkėjimai iš eUK. To introduce myself, I’m Thomas and I’m a former president of the UK. These articles are simply joint FA articles that people in the world can read.

Both our countries have been good allies in the past, present and it will hopefully continue that way into the future. I don’t actually believe that our countries have been enemies at any point. As part of my joint venture with Kravenn in FA articles, I am going to provide a brief history of our friendly relationship over the past couple of years.

The United Kingdom and Lithuania had barely any interaction before the dissolution of ATLANTIS. This is mainly because Lithuania wasn’t yet added to the game. The country was added in April 2009 just before ATLANTIS dissolved and the UK had adopted a neutral stance on international relations. With Lithuania having joined PEACE GC, they were briefly against the United Kingdom. The UK made a dramatic shift in foreign policy when an apparently training war occurred between them and Hungary, which led to the PEACE invasion of North America. The UK joined PEACE that summer. However, several months later the alliance collapsed. From the ashes, a new alliance was born. Phoenix rose up and both the United Kingdom and Lithuania were founding members. I recall the Baltic region being relatively peaceful, with Russia being an allied nation and all the Baltic nations being allied. However, Poland was in EDEN then and thus an enemy, as Phoenix and EDEN never saw eye to eye, kind of like CoTWO vs. EDEN right now.

Latvia, unfortunately, parted from Phoenix by late 2010 and as a result, things became unstable again. The collapse of Phoenix by December allowed the situation to resolve itself with old ideas of a Baltic alliance being brought back. ABC was formed. Initially, the UK joined Terra but at this time, I think ABC was neutral to all the alliances except EDEN. When Terra aligned itself with EDEN, the UK left the alliance and pursued extended friendships with ABC and ONE. Russia and Finland were enemies, while Sweden and Poland were allies. For much of late 2011 and parts of 2012, Lithuania was pushing for the UK to enter ABC as a member. Both countries help each other out on a regular basis. When the Asgard - ABC war broke out, the UK opted for a stance of neutrality because of a friendship they had held with Sweden. This did not include original regions being attacked and the UK helped Lithuania out as best as they could via MPP. With Lithuania going to CoT, this further solidifies relations between the UK and Lithuania as we feel quite close to some CoT members, such as Chile but we ourselves find we have more of a place in TWO.

TWO announces its first HQ
The newly formed TWO alliance has announced its very first HQ that was elected by all six alliance members. An article was published in Hungary from the TWO Alliance organisation that was likely renamed from a national organisation.

The first HQ for TWO is:
Secretary General: Mininuns
Supreme Commander: Ostenburg Moravek Gyula
Secretary of Foreign Affairs: Talon Karrde

Res Publica Pact
The nations of Belarus, Lithuania and Poland have recently signed a pact that declares:

1. All three members of Res Publica declare intent to improve our relationship or even signing a MPP in the upcoming months, if we didn`t have it yet.

2. Signing countries will conduct cooperative cultural events at notable dates in our common history. Good example can be Battle of Grunwald anniversary celebration.

3. Signing countries will conduct other events, like days of Polish culture at Belarus(or Luthuanian at Poland, Belarusian at Lithuania and so on) or collaborative help to new players.

4. The Res Publica Pact is a first step towards strengthening cooperation in various fields in Central-Eastern Europe and will be further developed in the course of intergovernmental negotiations.

This moves Belarus from its pro-EDEN stance to a more neutral stance. It also guarantees a safer border for both Lithuania and Belarus.

Other news

The USA has stated that it will not sit back and watch France be conquered. They will likely propose Serbia as natural enemy as soon as a border is gained. Many believe that this is the USA trying to recover the rubber it lost deliberately several months ago.
Spain has started discussions with Portugal over the possibility of a Non-Aggression Pact. From the comments of the article, however, quite a significant number of the population are voting against it.
An opinion poll in Albania suggests that 68% of the population would like to see the nation be brought out of EDEN. However, the CP has stated that there would be nowhere for the country to go if they did leave and that they would be in an even worse situation.
A referendum on leaving EDEN has began in Ukraine.

Today, 3 wars deserve our attention :
1- Poland vs Turkey
2- Chile vs Argentina
3- Brazil and what happened to Taiwan

Poland vs Turkey

Last time, I explained you that Poland had access to Turkey and they won Black sea coast of Turkey after an epic campaign (won 85-80 by Poland). On the same time, Turkey lost access to 3 resources (deer by losing Black Sea coast of Turkey and Grain + aluminium when several successful RW were launched and there was no roads between these 2 regions and turkish capital).

Situation on Dec 11, Poland lost Taurida

During the epic campaign in Turkey, Poland was under several resistance wars, even if most of the time, it is quite easy for them to win them. Netherlands and Eden decided to push in Western Netherlands.
Why there ? Reason is quite simple : this region is the only one where Poland has oil. Making them lose some precious tanks should be a problem for them in their war against Turkey.

Western Netherlands is precious for Poland. It is their only oil region

Since December 7 (and till Jan 7), you can wait 72h before attacking another region in a war. Due to that, Poland delayed its attack against the next turkish region. 24 hours after winning Black sea coast of Turkey, turkish decided to launch a resistance war on that region and it was a succes for them (they had back deer).

However and on the same time : Poland attacked another turkish region (eastern anatolia) before the end of the resistance war. But that’s not all, Poland also lost access to Turkey. Like I already explained, they arrived there via Ukraine (Taurida) and that region is now in Ukraine.

Poland lost Resistance war in Black sea coast of Turkey but Polish CP attacked Eastern Anatolia (red arrow) when the region was still under Polish control

What could be future events in that war ?
If Poland wins in Eastern Anatolia, they will be able to continue their crusade against Turkey
If Turkey wins in Eastern Anatolia, war ends because there will be no common border between Poland and Turkey

PS : Bulgaria decided to launch a natural enemy proposal against Turkey

Chile vs Argentina

Here, there is no huge change since our last article. Like scheduled, Chile won the last campaign and by this way : Argentina has no more colonies.

For Argentina, after having a huge reign in south america : change is quite and now Chile is forced to attack one of their original regions.
For Chile : the situation is a bit different, after being argentinian target where they were several times wiped and lost their original regions : it is payback time. They had back their regions but they removed argentinian colonies.

Cuyo : First original argentinian region under Chilean attack

After having an empire, it is always hard to see one of its original regions attacked. On this moment : Chilean friends decided to attack Cuyo which is one of the iron region of argentina.
Due to the main campaign in Europa (mentionned higher) : Chile easily lead at the moment where I write (46-9)

If Chile wins, they will be able to continue to make pay argentina. Argentina won’t lose now a resource (they should still have access to their other iron region)
If there is a huge surprise and Argentina wins : they will take back initiative and attack a chilean region.

Brazil (and Taiwan)

Last week, Taiwan was under the fire of Brazil (dominant force in South America) and USA (Dominant force in North America). Brazil had some problems to have a region in Asia and their best friends (USA) helped them and chose Taiwan as natural enemy.

However, Eden forces decided to annoy Brazil : they launched a Resistance war in Northern Cape (original south african region) and Brazil lost that war. That was more than annoying for Brazil : by losing this region, Brazil lost 4 resources (saltpeter, aluminium, cattle and deer). That lost wasn’t so long : South Africa declared Brazil as natural enemy.

Eden launched RW in Northern Cape and Brazil lost 4 resources. The region is now under Brazilian control

Brazil easily took back initiative and currently has Northern cape back (giving them again full resources).

About Taiwan, they escaped and the war between Brazil and them (+ the one between USA and them) are closed. Each time : no border between Taiwan and Brazil (+USA).

Original Taiwan regions are now american (Northern - Eastern and Central Taiwan) and Brazilian (Southern Taiwan).

Original regions of Taiwan are now under USA and Brazilian control

Like I said before, Taiwan escaped. To achieve that, they decided to launch a resistance war in Kyushu (Japan) and fight for Japan. Unlike last time, Taiwan had back most of their resources but their country is only on the map due to their colonies.

Taiwan cut borders between their original regions (who are under foreign control) and their colonies. They gave back Kyushu to Japan to achieve that
