[KQ4CP] Political Activity

Article music! Wake Up by AWOLNATION.

As I said in my previous campaign article, political activity is a topic that I would like to emphasize. Why? Because nobody else really does. Presidency is a large goal for many people who are interested in the political aspect of eRepublik, but progressing towards this goal and feeling confident about your ability to actually achieve it.. that can be quite difficult for some. Other than Congress, there are few chances to "gain political experience" in a helpful manner. On top of that, the public media seldom takes interesest in political discussions in relation to Presidency. Overall, we're not very good with political activity.

It is my intention to encourage political activity from both those interested in Presidency and those who look to have experienced candidates as President. Although this game is called eRepublik, politics is the real game that many of us play.

To do this, I will be running a "crash-course in Presidency", as I also mentioned in my previous article. To elaborate a bit more on that idea.. I will appoint up to five players, who have an interest in politics and would one day like to be President themselves, as my Vice-Presidents. These participants, as I'll call them, will take part in "presidential scenarios", where they will be asked to submit a "plan of action" for how to best resolve the scenario. After receiving feedback from my Cabinet about their plan, they will publish their plan in their newspapers so that the public can also partake in critiquing their hypothetical actions.

The point of the scenarios are to have our President-hopefuls begin to prepare themselves for what they may encounter during their own Presidency or even their campaign. As well as letting the public see the sort of President they would be if elected.

Though it is not a competition, it certainly has that feeling to it, and it even has a prize. Near the end of the term, I will "take a vacation", where one of the VPs will take my place as CP, and I will just do the button clicking. The VP that will take over will be decided by the feedback from my Cabinet and the public, which is how we encourage the public to participate as well. 😉 Of course, I will still be around, in case I need to jump back in if things go wrong.

On top of these scenarios, the VPs will also be invited to participate in any Executive discussions and may be asked to help the Cabinet out with various tasks. If there is a specific duty or position that they are interested in, they could also work with that Minister to learn more about it, or even take initiative themselves. They will be allowed the opportunities they need to learn what is expected from a Cabinet-member, and to gain the experience needed to be a Cabinet-member.

Between the course and being Cabinet-aids, it is my hope that they gain the knowledge and confidence to be able to run for Presidency themselves one day. From the public's feedback, they will gain an understanding if the public also has the confidence in them to run for Presidency. Overall, we prepare eCanada for when we need new leaders to take the spotlight.

On the topic of participants, I said that I would appoint up to five people as my Vice-Presidents. I currently have three people who have agreed to take part (two dropped out 🙁), and so I am looking for two more political-hopefuls. If anyone is interested in participating in the "crash-course in Presidency", just send me a private message with your reasons for wanting to participate.

On Sunday, February 5th, 2012, I hope to begin a new venture to strengthen the political participation in our country. If you would like to join me, please show your support and please consider voting for me on election day.

Thank you,
