Join the new world

Good evening UK. As I promised in my previous manifesto today is the day for Domestics. As current Minister of Home affairs this is probably my strength and therefore meaning this manifesto will be tl;dr with a wealth of Knowledge. I hope you have as much fun reading this as I had writing it! 🙂

Before I get fully into domestic stuff I would like to say a thank you to every one of you who helped us secure London yesterday and the day prior. We showed that “Never going to give up” attitude which makes me proud to be a citizens of the eUK. Special thanks also go out to all of the suppliers; Thatcher, CD, Jamesw and of course Military command. The last 24 hours have been a bit hectic but I think we can all agree we’ve made the right choice. (I didn't go to sleep last night by the way. e_e)

Now…in my manifesto on Saturday I had this to say about the Domestics.
Domestics – The old favourite.

Here we will be looking at our ideas for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Communications and Legislative Affairs. we have some tricks up our sleeves for this month and I’m hoping to achieve some progress. The eUK community is probably the best erepublik community out there and we need to use this to our advantage to make our domestic Ministries awesome as they once were. More on that to come soon in the actual article.

I was a little vague in that snippet as I didn’t want to reveal any of my tricks prior to this article. My ideas are based upon what myself and jamesw implemented last month and the constructive criticism that I’ve received from some spectators. Nobody is perfect. I’ve learnt a great deal in my month as MoHA.

Ministry of Home Affairs

I have moved a few things around from last term and have added a returning department to the frame. Some of the departments have moved to the MoComms. This is because I want use that Ministry to what I believe it was meant for; a help base for the newer players or Erepublik. This is why I have split the “new player friendly” departments into the MoComms so they can focus on keeping them happy whilst the MoHA continues to serve up some good old fashioned fun along with some other projects. 🙂

Lulz and Fun

This is one of the more successful departments from the last term. We’ve had fun games like Battle of the users and time points. Not to mention the fact we have Monarch week on going with lots of prizes! In the next month I am willing to give the UnderMinister a bit more cash to give out a lot more prizes. This will hopefully increase participation and hopefully “Lulz” will ensue. I’m sure we can set up a bunch of Interesting supremacy matches too.

Media

Last month we introduced the Domestic Orders. For many months prior the Media department served only to produce a weekly NNA report. I think that continuing the Domestic orders on a bidaily basis and kindly asking the Army to vote them up we can make sure our citizens are aware of all domestic things happening in the UK. NNA will continue as usual; with a small cash prize to whoever gets PM’s choice article of the week. It’s a little incentive to get some of the good writers (and I know there is a lot of you) writing frequently again.

Recruitment

I didn’t use this department last term as MoHA as I felt that if the opportunity presents itself (Like the Metro idea) we should just go for it without having an actual department. I now regret that action and believe that if we have a small team of forum actives brainstorming to try and find ways to recruit it couldn’t do us any harm. Of course if a big opportunity does come around again I would start a proper forum campaign to get in as many ideas as possible. This department will focus on the little things that will help us get a baby boom as in the end; that’s pretty much the only opportunity we have to get one at this current moment in time.

Gifting

Though this Department seemed a bit inactive this month I want to revitalize it for my Term. A healthy citizen should be our priority and I will be including a link to this department in the census + retention PMs (explained in a bit). I will also make sure that this department has at least two articles out during my term to advertise itself. Gifting in my eyes is one of the most important departments because of the long term benefits it gives when you’ve gifted someone. (they usually get on the forums!)



Census

In the last term I had a lot of expectation for this department; unfortunately the API went down for the majority of the time and it was deemed pretty much useless. The API has however come back online and a batch of PMs have been sent. I would like to continue this department into my term if I win because of the potential it has to grab a lot of fresh talent. As an incentive to reply to the census the citizens who answer will get a certain amount of wellness to help them out in their first few days.


Hmm. No seal for the MoComms. I'll have to fix that.

Ministry of Communication

As mentioned above I have moved a few things about to try and make this Ministry a “new player friendly” zone. I’ve also added one new department which should help try and bridge a gap we’ve had for a while.

Education

This department will continue to function as it currently does; however I will want an increased media presence during times in which the admins are making dastardly changes. Like with the Domestic orders in the media department I will try to make sure that these make the Top 5 so more people see them.

Wiki

This department has been dead in recent governments. I would like to attempt and revive it buy setting it the task of updating the eUK Portal + associated Wiki pages. It will be a long task but will be very beneficial in the end; especially for new players just finding their way around.

Mentoring

This is one of the departments that is moving from the MoHA. This department really didn’t set off last month due to a few problems regarding Maddog. This month I’m hoping that we can get an article out straight away and use the census department to advertise this scheme as soon as possible. Mentoring is one of our best departments and I don’t want to let it go to waste.

Retention

Another one of the departments moved from the MoHA. I have merged this with Pming so the department has an actual goal it can be achieved daily. By messaging citizens and asking them to get involved by coming on irc/forums we can hopefully get a few new faces around. The actual Pming that the original department did will still be used with the help of Open Government. 🙂

The Welcoming Commitee

This is the new department that I will be adding to the MoComms this month. The committee will be responsible for talking to new player of the game and telling them how cool this game is. I’m willing to give this department a chance to see how effective it is. If we convince at least one person to continue on playing the game past a week; the department is a moderate success. (Thanks to Karacticus for the Idea for this department)

Other Snippets

After speaking to Karacticus and some other people I found out that there are many brilliant ideas for the MoHA that can be used on the side. These won’t be official departments but will help us in running of the Ministry.

Suggestion Box – Is there something that you feel that the MoHA is missing. Every week we
will take the best idea and as long as it’s achievable we will try our best to do it. This could be anything from a new game on the forum to something like a graphics contest. (Jan would be DQed obviously)



Graphics Team – One thing I’ve learnt in the last month. Someone will always want some cool graphics done. Unfortunately this can sometimes take up to a week to get done. Having a small dedicated graphics team could eliminate the wait for graphics.



Ministry of Legislative Affairs

I’ll keep this section short because there is really not much to say here. The MoLA although important; is a pretty standard job and not much will need to be changed within this Ministry. If I am elected then I will be happy to continue with the citizenship votes as long as they only get accepted if they have a 90% Yes vote on their thread.

As for Reports I will continue with what jamesw did in the last month by making the MoLA write up a report every few days so that the progress within the Ministry can be viewed by the public. I want to strive for better communication between the MoLA and the public this month though. Karacticus also suggested that we get the MoLA to write with a satirical take on the debates within congress. It should be a bit of fun anyway. 🙂
