[jw] An open letter to New Era - I can make it better

some music whilst you read

Greetings New Era Members. In light of recent events and accusations being thrown around, and my odd fascination with your party, its makeup, its goals and its approach to the game, I come to you all today with an offer that I never thought I would make since I finished my last term in power, as MoD under BigAnt a few months ago.

I come today offering to return from inactivity on the background, to talk to you about a way out of the corner you have been backed into. Please do not mistake this for some sort of PTO, some sort of attempt to wrest power away from those who have put in the time and effort to build up your party; I am releasing this over 3 weeks in advance of elections purely so that I can make my case outside of the electoral rush, and garner feedback and your thoughts before I even impact upon the next PP election.

In short, with your backing I would offer myself up as your next Party President. This is not entirely a selfless act; I admit. My intention is to show you that the route to power need not be wrought with a distrust of established parties and people within the UK. My intention is to beat any previous records New Era has set. My intention, quite frankly, is to turn the number one party in numbers, into an electoral force both congressionally, and presidentially. In short, my intention is to come in, lead by example, and do what no other New Era Party President has done: get the most congress seats, and a New Era (or New Era backed) candidate into the Presidency.

I have a plethora of things I would implement, a few things I would fine tune, but most importantly, I have a proven track record when it comes to winning, and doing things properly. A simple glance at my profile shows that. Another interesting fact for you is that in every party I have been in (TUP, UKRP and ESO), the record amount of Congress seats (at least to my knowledge) has come either when I was Election Co-ordinator, or Party President. Can anyone else boast such a thing? I've also served as President every time I have seriously run for election. I have lost 1 out of 7 serious runs for President, and that month I replaced the guy who beat me, and not to blow my own horn, basically turned the tide of the war - returning the UK from the brink of being wiped for the first time by Canada, to every original region. I also did so by using game mechanics at the time, to mean that we actually funded this war with our enemies gold and currency: we had to pay to start attacks, and tank and supply our troops, but the amount we spent was less than what we 'won' from them. (this is a long story which I won't go into here: if you're really interested comment and I will explain it all)

In short, I am asking you well in advance of your elections to put your trust in me, not just so that I can once again show when I want to do something, I get it done, and done well. But also to show you that a wholesale rejection of your political adversaries, and an adversarial approach to politics is not necessarily a sure-fire way to 'beat' your opponents at the ballot box. Other, more inclusive and friendly approaches can also reap huge rewards too.

If my candidacy is taken as a threat, an attempt to PTO or drastically change the way that New Era operates against the wish of a majority of members, I will not run in your election. If, however, you are open to new ways of thinking and operating, systemic and systematic reform, and can do all of the above with an open mind and a constructive attitude, then I for one, will put in the effort to give you the success that has somehow evaded you until now.

Regards,
~jw

PS: If you think I'm an awful guy, quite a few NE members (even BA!) seemed to think I was a p cool guy. here, here and here. Of course there are more, but these are all I could be bothered to find and are the most recent.
