[IBhoy] Manny-festo

Day 1,596, 08:29 Published in Ireland Canada by irishbhoy1967

Hi folks, I'd like to introduce you to my Manny-festo.

Military

I've been involved with just about every successful military campaign that Ireland has embarked on, ever. I've worked behind the scenes for most President's we have had here and have been central to planning any military moves we have made. My experience, knowledge and expertise in this area dwarves that of anyone else running in this election. If elected I hope to cement our peace with UK so we can focus on other things. For almost a year now we have not been able to focus on helping allies 100%. For about a year before that, Irish Soldiers travelled the world to help allies without ever having to worry too much about wars of aggression on our own turf. This month I want us to make a strong showing for our allies on battlefields everywhere. That is how we won our allies in the first place, we did not get them for free. Having a deal with UK that gives us a resource bonus without having to fight tooth and nail to defend it(or indeed our original regions) means that we have a chance to turn up for our friends when they need it the most. When you see the gratitude of an ally in a situation like that, you will see that it is worth it. Peace with UK also gives us a chance to look into other possibilities for extra resources and I'll do what I can to secure some deals to get us more of those. I have been part of Ireland's military progression for a long time and I feel this is the next step we need to make and it is an important one.

The highly complex negotiations between myself and the UK President, Talon Karrde, that finally led to the Ireland-UK Peace deal.

Foreign Affairs

I've been Minister of Foreign Affairs more than 10 times(lost count tbh) in 3 countries. When I started the game, Ireland was neutral and probably the most boring country in the game. In my first term as MoFA I brought Ireland into the Brolliance with USA and Canada, who both remain great allies to this day. This was an important first step on Ireland's journey as we had at last made a decision to join anything. I saw this as our first step towards EDEN. Since then I've been heavily involved in our Foreign Affairs and have nurtured our progression in this area and forged deep bonds between Ireland and other countries in every possible way I could. I'll continue to do this. I think we can stabilise our position in EDEN again this month. We will not be voting No to Turkey again unless there is some serious disrespect shown to us. The plan was not to vote No to them last time but they did exactly that. Blocking them is not the right thing to do however, and any problems we may or may not have with EDEN should not be used to punish another country. Turkey's membership is not a chip for us to bargain with. I also do not want a long drawn out and painful process like what happened with Bulgaria. Ireland will stay in EDEN and we will continue to be good allies as always. I want to draw a line under it and move on now. If more problems arise between ourselves and EDEN then we will hold a referendum and put the issue to bed. The people will decide whether we stay there or not. Simple as that. I'll also continue to keep an open line with any country anywhere in the world if there is an advantage for us to do so. Having affairs with foreigners is my speciality.

Community

I would love to see some extra focus on this next term. I will have what the person in question themselves referred to as "an old school MoC". In connection with Community, our national forums have been pretty much abandoned. I'm not sure we even really need to bother trying to resurrect them either. I would like to improve interaction between Government/Congress and the general public by creating a "forum" for people to air their views ingame. I'd like to release 1-2 articles per week where the sole purpose is to give the public a place to ask ANY questions they may have, air any grievances they may have, or just a place to come call me and the government names/orcs/mafia etc. Either the CP or the relevant Government Minister can answer any questions that ANYONE may have unless the information they seek is sensitive info such as certain military info needs to be. This way it gives us one place to go to try solve the problems that people have and answer questions etc. It may also help contain our lovely little shitstorms to one area.

Heartbroken, Yddub watches on as another Shitstorm begins, the most regular feature of the e-Irish climate

Finance

I brought Sweet Drinker here to take care of this a year ago. We were broke. Now we are rich. The man is a genius and we're lucky to have him. Irish citizens benefit from projects that are the envy of countries 10 times our size. Nothing will change here. Money God is Money God. Worship him.

A typical day at the office for Sweet

Why am I running?

I find it strange that Marcus continues to question my motives for running for President. Marcus himself all but left eRep last year. In the time he has been away I have been here working away as much as I could. I've planned a successful assault on what was then the #1 country in the game, Poland, a move that won us the hearts and minds of many around the world. I've been the main overall contributor/planner to taking out UK's congress 3 times in a row and have made the final calls on strategy each time. I was also the main strategist and planner for the first ever fall of fortress London(which I think was the last ever region to be conquered in the game) in one of the most epic battles in eRep history. And even to go back to when Marcus was last active(his own CP terms) I was the one doing most of the planning during those terms also. I could go on and on about accomplishments but don't want people to complain about my massive ego(this article is maybe the first time I've started talking about what I've achieved tbh because I prefer doing than talking). I don't feel I should need to justify whether I should run or not. There is no-one here that has been as consistently involved with running the place for the past 2 years, and there is no-one else in this election that has put in as much dedication to the cause of e-Ireland.

I'm the most experienced and most knowledgeable about how the game works of all the candidates, simple as that. So I'd like your vote on the 5th 🙂

PS Please have a read of a recent interview where I've answered some questions related to this election.
