==========================

My dear friends and colleagues in DAP, , my dear fellow eMalaysians and international readers,

In one and half days, you will be selecting your new Party President. For DAP, we have two candidates - myself and a young aspiring DAP member - MyPrince. Being a 'young'ish eMalaysian myself - I am truly glad to see a fellow young eMalaysian who share my ideals and aspirations on leading this party. That aside, spare me a moment to outline my vision and goals for DAP in coming days. Perhaps this may also serve as a general introduction to the Party itself.

History of DAP and its past Presidents (Editted)
DAP has a long and close history to eMalaysia. Established in circa Feb 2009, same as eMalaysia, DAP was founded by a ex-Pakistani Diost. Its early party president includes Ejjnye, crvnazvezda, and pruscok. Between June 2009 and Dec 2009, DAP was led by notable eMalaysians such as Robert Magasi, SHBalage, Albert Neurath (2x), Nagyzee and Badlands17 (2x).

During these times, DAP had 5 terms consecutive run at the Country Presidency, presiding over mostly coalition governments (mixed of DAP-FUP-others cabinet). Over this period, DAP has grown to be the biggest political party in eMalaysia (till Oct 2009), sponsored the construction of the first Q5 hospital in eMalaysia, mentored/assisted hundreds of newbies and contributed immensely to the socio-economy development of eMalaysia. DAP Congress representatives were also known for their generous contribution of the congress medal gold to the states.

Reflecting on the burden of DAP history and the state of DAP today, where we are now the 2nd largest party (behind with a large margin), I contemplate today my decision a week ago. Am I ready to step into the shoes of Badlands (2x Country Presidents), Nagyzee and others?

What do I see DAP stand for?
In deciding to run for the Party Presidency and undertaking the so-called reforms of DAP, I first need to understand what is DAP in its core. I want to see whether the principles of DAP coaligned with my own eWorld principles - and to my delight - it does in many ways. From our archive, i noted what Robert Magasi, DAP PP of June 2009 said 7 months ago, which still hold true today:

"We (DAP) stand for a multicultural, neutral and strong eMalaysia, a peaceful country for open minded people. We support low taxes to encourage investments and we also support the welfare programs of the government....

DAP today enjoys a happy mix of RL Malaysians, Hungarians, Americans and others. Admittedly, the ongoing rumours that DAP has no RL Malaysian Malays might have some statistical basis as only ~10% of our members are RL Malaysian Malays. That view is something I intend to change - as i see DAP as a party for ALL eMalaysians. In terms of fiscal prudence, foreguard of eMalaysia neutrality and support of welfare programs - I believe DAP through its past and current actions speak for itself.

That said - i see DAP having another dimension of potential that we do not promote very well. To me, DAP also stands for liberal democracy in its true essence. We strongly support accountable, transparent and communicative government. Our members are the strongest critics of the government, even when we were part of the government (Badlands17 - wink!). Our members are also the strongest supporters of the government in difficult moments (Romanian PTO, Alfagrem, Indo invasions etc). The patriotism of DAP members are unquestionable!

What will i do in the coming month?
Many have commented that I typically write very long and often my young readers might lose their interests after 500 words or so. (which is about this sentence). So, i will keep it short and simple. Following are what i intend to do and achieve in the coming months. Further details have been and will be posted in the DAP private forum.

► Rebranding of DAP party - including name, logo and policy platform restatements
► More communication from DAP!
► DAP constitution and history - documentation, wiki, forums
► DAP Healthy members program
► Rock it up the forums and media program
► Formalised procedure and mobilisation for congressional election
and lastly,
► DAP recruitment drive and babyboom. Our membership is more than half of the largest party in eMalaysia. Time for a change!

To DAP members out there - I hope my goals and vision of DAP resonate with yours. If so, lend me your votes, support, time, effort and help me achieve these lofty ambitions.

To independent eMalaysians out there - if you think your e-worldview is parallel with DAP and/or you want to contribute in a way to our cause to make a better eMalaysia - message me today.

To members of other parties (FUP etc) - I wish that despite our differences due to electoral battles - we shall all work towards a better and more prosperous eMalaysia. Malaysia Boleh! (Malaysia Can!).

Your humble servant,
Carr de Vaux
