eMalaysia national politics commentary and minor DAP annoucement

Day 778, 00:26 Published in Malaysia New Zealand by Carr De Vaux

My dear comrades in DAP and fellow citizens of eMalaysia,

I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulation to ww88, the presidential candidate from FUP, in securing the presidential election with a convincing 60% of the popular votes over nicholas2000, the DAP candidate. ww88 - a hardworking and upcoming lad certainly deserves the victory, backed by the 181 members of FUP. I hope all eMalaysians now work towards a greater nation.

Looking at the national political scene of eMalaysia, i cannot help but to feel sorry for my own political party - DAP, who have fallen from its prime days of being the largest political party in Malaysia. Capturing an estimated of 10-20% of the newbies born during the Aug-Sept 2009 babyboom organised by Vikta, and probably another 10-20% of the babies born since - DAP is now languishing at 71 members. The wise men have said - life is like a cycle; sometimes you are on the top and sometimes you are at the bottom.

After successive of 5 congress majority (April to Aug 2009) and 5 successive presidency terms (June to Oct 2009), DAP has fallen out of favour with the eMalaysia demography. I have previously attempted to understand the dynamics of the eMalaysia politics - and it boils down to two critical parameters: a) baby/membership booms, and b) charismatic leaders. At it is, FUP is leading in both accounts.

When i first actively participate in the eMalaysia politics, FUP has already gained the membership momentum. During the Sept 2009 congressional election, one has reported that FUP has over 96 members compared to DAP with 75 and DCM with 26. While smaller parties like DCM and now AC (ex SIM/UPP) have a relatively stable and loyal membership of 20-30 - FUP had been growing rapidly while DAP had not. At its height (just before the Indo invasion), DAP had over 120 members while FUP then had approximately 160. Yet, since, DAP has failed to recruit new members while FUP consistently drew on its strength being in the babyboom wave as well as the Social Office participation. So, after such historical development, what is the current landscape of eMalaysia national politics?

As it is, the political parties in eMalaysia consist of:
►Federal Unity Party (FUP) 181 members
►Democratic Action Party (DAP) 71 members
►Adeptus Custodes (AC) 35 members
►Malaysian Tiger (MT) 32 members
►Pakatan Rakyat (PR) 31 members
►Djozikeist Church of Malaysia (DCM) 21 members
►Freedom Party (FP) 5 members

FUP alone (181) has sufficient active members to counter the combined membership of DAP, AC, PR and DCM (71+35+31+21 =15😎. I have discounted MT off as it is known to be an organised medal hunter party, whose political platform is rather obscure at this stage. As such, FUP and its associated groups (PUSAKA, SELU (?), Mudkipz (still here?)) will be the dominant force in eMalaysia political scene.

DAP specific analysis/announcement from here on

As a life-member of DAP, i can't help but to feel sad of the decay of DAP membership. Over the months, we have developed a reputation of being a non-RL-malaysian party, which is not entirely unjustified. Indeed, of the current 71 members, approximately 35-40 members are non-fluent English speakers. Over the month as well, DAP has fallen complecent over status as the 'largest' political party in Malaysia, and did not spare any effort to groom new members and leadership. Over the months, we have lost quite a few influential/active members to various other causes, nations and even FUP. Admittedly, we (DAP) are NOT good enough.

Recognising however, the potential DAP membership has - with some of the most experienced citizens anchoring our cause, DAP can and should regrow. Driven by our proud history of developing this nation from a small unknown PTO target nation to the flag-ship neutral nation of Free eWorld and the founding nation of Sol alliance - DAP can and should rejuvenate. Inspired by the needs of eMalaysia for a stronger opposition party as well as alternative to the current hegemony of FUP - DAP must regain its old self.

Towards that direction, I hereby announce my humble wish to run for Party Presidency of DAP (Democratic Action Party). 🙂 I know it is a little rhetorical 'speech' to probably not-hotly contested party election.

Yours,
Carr de Vaux
