[CP] - Lester B. Would Be Proud

Day 1,632, 22:55 Published in Canada Canada by Sperry

Dum Spiro Spero

Today has been a day of reorganization and refocusing. 5 days into the Presidential term may not seem like much, but we're already 1/6th of the way through the term. That's over 200 days in real life terms. The Cabinet and I spent the better part of this morning catching up on the unfinished business of earlier days. A lot of memos were piling up in our CICERO document, and most of them have since been addressed. Though, there is that one about international marraige. I'll deal with that later...

Gifts, Gold, and Government

All of the prizes from the Fritzhill draw have been distributed to the names who were chosen. 155 people have filled out the Google Doc that was sparked after Fritzhill's massive donation. 100 came from Canada, 46 from our allies abroad, and 9 from late responses that came in after I had done the draw. Alas to statistics. At any rate, 75 Canadians and 25 TEDEN friends have been picked out, and sent their CAD, Food, and Guns. See the bottom of this article for a complete list.

As of this article, only 22 people have filled out the GDoc attached the Congress' offer to pay for your training center upgrades. 10 of these people - including UK President Applesauce - are ineligible. Don't miss out on this offer while Congress is able to make it! Take 30 seconds to apply for 10 GOLD and some cheap strength upgrades:

Natural Enemies

Today Congress approved yet another NE vote against the United Kingdom. We've been at war with them since late in Trent's term, when he finally secured us with the True Patriot gold that so many Canadians were hungry for. Since then, we have kept the war open, allowing Canadians to feed on TP gold in their spare time between major alliance battles.

Today we're moving against East Midlands, one of Britain's oil regions. It's also just been connected to the remaining British regions. As a result, our NE with the Brits is going to stay open for a few days longer. If we are successful, the British will be temporarily wiped while we finish off the final preparations for our more interesting wars. Certainly Poland and Hungary may step in and cause some entertainment of their own. And if they do, we'll have frontline battles and True Patriot encounters. Fancy that.

What's important here is the attitude toward Britain. I've spent every single day in conversation with UK President Appleby(sauce). He, like Talon before him, understands the importance of respect and decency on the field. Both of us were playing back when Britain left our alliance and were labelled as traitors. It's a stain that's kept the oldies of both countries bitter for years, and serves as the empty justification for even our most recent of wars. And both of us know that this bickering is pointless. I have better things to do than to hate the British for something a bunch of old dead guys did. So do you. So does Canada. Let's move on from these "natural enemies" and fight some nations that are actually worth fighting against.

Real War is Coming

Teaser!

It grows more concrete every day, and to the direct benefit of Canada and her citizenry. Our allies are well aware of our desire to be of direct benefit to TEDEN interests. Stay tuned, my lovelies. We'll get those ruby slippers yet...

Old Faces & New at the EDEN Summit

Every month, and sometimes more often than that, EDEN gets together for a visit. The EDEN summit is a meeting of the leaders of our biblical alliance, where Country Presidents (or their representatives) sit down with HQ to sort out how EDEN is doing and how it ought to proceed for the coming weeks. A lot of people find these summits boring or pointless, and I'll admit, it's pretty easy to slide into that position. If you don't pay attention or you don't know what's being discussed, it's hard to engage or make any real difference. But I'm a sucker for IRC (sorry Pluggers), and so the summit is right up my alley.

This month's summit was one of the more interesting ones I've attended. After the fast-paced but overall quiet start, we got into some fairly vigorous discussion about a few more recent items that have come up for our allies. We'll be meeting again next week to finalize some of those conversations, while others will carry on as early as tomorrow morning.

Playing Peacekeeper

This brings me to my next point. eCanada has, in the past 5 days, taken on a role that's stereotypical to Canada as a nation. Plugson and I have been working on shifting Canada from being an international embarrassment to serving as a trusted ally as friend. Take this response from our French bro's, for example, in response to a recent letter sent by Canada to our allies abroad.

Many of our friends have responded well to the honest effort to improve our nation's standing. This outreach has also opened Canada to the opportunity to ease tensions between other nations around the world who, like Canada of yestermonth, aren't looked on very kindly right now. We've had the opportunity to stand up for old friends and also advocate for new ones, as our interational relationship continues to improve.

Not all of the work Plugson has been doing for foreign affairs is visible to the Canadian public. Some of his conversations need to remain private for now, while others simply don't reach us because they're hitting international congresses, and not our citizens. Many of these initiatives are reworked versions of old projects, compiled into more accessible forms and shared with all of our allies so that we can communicate better and understand our overall goals. As Plugson's work continues, I become increasingly impressed. Once again he earns kudos for staunch dedication and international valour.

As promised, the list of winners for the Fritzhill fund. Names 1-25 are our international recipients. Names 26-100 are Canada's own. Congratulations to all!
