[Advanced knowlegde] Military strategies part 1.

Greetings to all!

Today I write about basic elements of high strategy to make some things easier to understand about military operations around the eWorld. Let’s start with two seemingly simple concept: declaring war and initiative

Declaring war
In order to begin any kind of military operation against an other country one have to declare war or achieve the state of war by different means.

- to actually declare war the president of the declaring country must start a vote in congress, and the congress has to accept this law. It costs 200 gold + 10% * total number of citizens above experience level 5 in the attacking country. As it can be figured out declaring a war can be enormously costly if the attacker is a big country. That’s why most countries try to search for tricky ways to get that war.

- There is the “chain reaction” rule which allows to open war cheaper. Briefly if there is country A and country B in alliance with each other, and country C attacking country A’s original territories, not only can country B fight for country A, but if there is a border between country B and country C then country B gain a free war against country C. Got it? Not really? Here is a historical example:
eHungary wants to attack eCroatia, but it cost a small fortune to do so. So, they asked eAustria, who got MPP with eCroatia to attacking eHungary. The eAustrians attacked eHungary (the cost to this was less than on tenth of the cost if eHuns attacking eCroats directly, and was funded by eHuns) and by the definition of chain reaction rule eHungary gain a free war with eCroatia, as they have borders.

Initiative
- initiative means who get the right to attack in a war. When a country declares war upon an other country, the declaring country has the right to make the first attack for 24hours. If the 24 hours passed without attack, both country can attack, and which make it first gains the initiative.
Example: during world war III eIran declared war on eCanada to help their PEACE allies. But they somehow managed to fail launch an attack in the 24 hours period after the declaration of war, and eCanada managed to make an attack on them in the 25th hours which eventually left eIran without their provinces in the new world.

- if a country wins the last battle he got he keeps the initiative. Attention: the “last battle” word is critical. It means the battle that ends last, not the battle that opened last. If a country lost his last battle, he looses initiative for 24 hours against the country who defeated him. If a country has an attack against him, he can not attack until he defend his region. If a country wins or looses, but has an other battle in progress his status about initiative remains unchanged.
There rules seems simple to first, but the sophisticated use of this rules can be the difference between great victory or bitter defeat. Some examples:

1.) Basic attacks (nowadays quite obsolete)
eFrance attacked one region of eSpain, and win the battle. During the battle eSpain can not attack any other country, as he got a battle to defend. After the battle eSpain can attack any country, except eFrance because there is a 24 hours penalty as eFrance wins a battle against eSpain, as he lost the last battle but has no active battle against him. During the battle eFrance can attack any other countries as she is the attacking country. After the battle eFrance can attack any country as well, including eSpain.
Simple? Then push on! 😛

2.) Attacks with blocking countries
Cast: eRomania as attacker eBulgaria as defender eSerbia as interceptor
eRomania attacking eBulgaria, and wins the first battle. As we can see in the first example, eRomania can attack again and eBulgari can not attack eRomania for 24hours. eRomania attacking a second ebulgarian region but this time eSerbia launch an attack on the previously occupied original ebulgarian, now eromanian held region. What will happen if eRomania win the second battle against eBulgaria?
eBulgaria can not attack back, as he lost the second battle against eRomania, but eRomania can not attack further eBulgaria, as eSerbia attacked him, thus as the rules say he can not attack any other country, no matter eBulgaria has 24hours penalty against eRomania.
Think you got it? Well, maybe yes maybe not yet, but on the next article we will discuss an other key element for strategy, which will cause things even more difficult to copy: retreat and it’s effects on initiative.

Stay tuned an😛
