- A Presidential Goodbye :: A Term in Summary -

Day 443, 23:16 Published in USA USA by Justinious McWalburgson III

Hello eAmerica,

I will get to the point and congratulate Uncle Sam on his victory. It was a close race at first, but his hard work and loyal supporters have brought him an honest victory. Uncle Sam has been a good friend of mine for a long time in this game and although we have had our differences, I know he will do a good job as our President. He will lead as he sees fit, and we will stand behind him as our new president.

On the sheer principle of this event I am overall happy. Granted I neither wanted to lose, nor had I expected to. You would have to know my history over the past 6 months to understand where I am coming from in this, but Uncle Sam winning these elections is a truly historic moment in our country. For the longest time, much to the dismay of candidates such as myself, it was common knowledge that if you did not get the open endorsement of the USWP and/or the LiB, that you would not be able to win. The simple fact alone that Uncle Sam and his supporters were able to win despite the numbers show against them is honorable to say the least.

I felt now that my term was over it was time for a summary. I thought a quick rundown of what I have and have not accomplished this term would be good. If for nothing else than a good history lesson down the road. Lets start with where and when my term began, the 5th of January.

- One Month ago Today (January 5th) - Just as the Election polls opened my only Campaign Article was released. - Vote Justinious PrincessmedyPi Jan 09 -

This article had no high lofted goals, no campaign promises, and no higher agenda. It was just me sitting back and stating what I felt we needed, and how I knew I could get us there.

- January 6th through the 8th - The following day I released my Inaugural address on what was one of the most daunting days of my eLife. - First Days in Office -

Shortly thereafter I released my second article on my cabinet.
These first few days showed massive amounts of work behind the scenes, as both myself and PrincessMedyPi ran around like mad PMing people and trying to get all the applications as organized as possible. These days were joyous in nature as well as they saw the advent of the SADD group which I pray will continue even though I am no longer in office. The Military Reform Committee was also started along with the highly successful Proper Procedure and Protocal Director being appointed.

- January 11th - This day saw my extremely wordy views on taxes and how the effect our markets come to the media as well as our forums. - The Taxation of Economics -

This article was one of my first attempts to quell the debates within congress while trying to gather a sufficient amount of support. Although my success in both those aims was small at best, I feel the points made were well received and did help to educate many people on the truth behind our taxes. At this point in time our media was nearly flooded with many articles calling out bad administrations and a greedy congress for their taxes, and they simply did not know the facts. In retrospect a more "bite-size" article could have possibly been a better approach.

- January 15th - This was the day of the now infamous "suck" article. Which, as expected, gathered as much votes from our enemies as our allies. - The US Sucks -

Although the wording in this article was rather akward at times, I feel it was still able to convey its overall meaning. This article was inspired by the escalating amount of tension in the US media and congress. We were approaching near civil-war-like levels of discord and division in our people. Its a very common and acceptable practice to question authority and want your own path, as well as having your opinion heard. Sadly, what the US was facing was more than just your every day agreements. We were facing unprecedented levels of hate filled comments and articles coupled together with cleverly placed propaganda only furthing the flames. These days were the erepublik equivilant of riots in the streets. Although in retrospect they seem perfectly fine, they needed to be addressed in their own way.

- January 18th - Here is where I addressed the hot topic of the time, the US and the World. - What are our options? -

This could go down as another one of my articles that would have been better recieved if turned into a series of smaller articles, but regardless the facts were laid out. It was a goal of my presidency to ensure I was always honest with the American people. I decided that the amount of unrest surrounding our foreign affairs warrented an article from me on them. I did not sit down and tell everyone what we were doing, but objectively showed where we were and what other options had been proposed and then evaluted their pros and cons. I was very pleased with the reception of this article as it did seem to do its job in letting everyone know what really was going on. I also added an economic update to the end of this article. In this update it could be seen that only 15 days into my term, and we had brought the value of the dollar up from .014 to .016 as well as stabalized the inflation of the turn of the year. The Tax structure enacted by congress was doing its job, and all was well.

- January 21st - This is where the fun began, and I nearly was kicked out of office. - The Battle for Azores -

A lesson the US Government had learned time and time again. The only thing we love more than war, is hating that same war. I had started a single battle with Portugal at this time for several reasons. One of them being our economic situation, our country needs regular battles to stay alive, and we despearately needed one. On top of that situation which had been bugging me for some time, I was asked by our allies in Spain to aid them in this battle, and I had no reason to turn them down. The US fought bravely, but the timing of this battle could not have been worse. At this moment the servers slowed to a hault and eventually the battle was stalled. A day later the servers were taken down tnriely dand the battle was potponed again. Finally the battle was resumed once more, and through the mess of server issues it was finally over. We may have lost the battle, but we were never in it to conquer another nation, but to help our own. If you are wondering these server issues were directly related to the GOLD Snaking that was going on in various areas of the world at that time. On the socai end of things. A proposal was set into motion on the eUS forums to have me impeached as I was found to be unfit for duty after declaring this battle. The motion never left its preliminary rounds of debate and I was able to continue servering the nation.

- January 23rd-25th - The Trials of The Party.

This was when the string began to unravel faster than before. Due to the immoral and dangerous actions of the party, ATLANTIS had decided a trade embargo would be emplaced as a peaceful way to show them our disagreement of their actions. Franco did not take this matter lightly and began to push for my impeachment on the forum in which he owned.

- January 26rd - This was my article where I came to several realizations that I knew I had to address with the nation. - A Presidential Update -

My First (and only) term as president was already coming to a close and it still feeled as if we had just started. I am sitting in the oval office with a desk full of paperwork and a head full of ideas. I decided to go for a walker and ponder all that laid before us as a nation and I came upon a revelation of sorts. There is no one right way to run the nation we simply need to find the way that is correct that most everyone agrees with. Which brought me to my second revelation. For all my knowledge and understanding of the game, my beliefs and why of running the nation may be good, but it may not be what the US wants. If you want to read more of how I feel about the presidency and overall about my term. Read that article, please. It did not get the attention it deserved.

- January 27th - Probably the Worst Combination of Occurrences in Presidential History. - South Korean Revenge -

To start things out I was plagued by computer issues leaving me without internet for roughly 4 days. I knew of this and had already placed everything in order for my abssense, and then tradgedy struck. In one of the most humiliating and immature moves in the history of erepublik. Franco decided to not only hack our Federal Reserve and distribute all the funds, but also take down our nation forums, and go crazy on our national irc channel. Luckily, steps had already been taken to ensure some type of a smooth transition between these when that day would come. We just never knew it would be soo sudden. I worked quickly to do all that I could to get our evidence over to the admins before I was withough t an internat connection, but ultimately the heroes in this situation were all those who were able to carry the torch while I was gone. PrincessMedyPi, Killing Time, Scrabman, and soo many others whom our entire country owes a huge amount of debt to. Thank you so much for all you have done and continue to do.

- February 4th - It all comes full circle. - Of Mice and Men -

This article was just released a day ago, but I feel it addresses an issue all too real with our government today. It is something everyone needs to realize as we continue on in this country.

Only history will be my true judge. I will not be leaving office saying I am happy for the many things I have accomplished. If anything, I wish I had done much more, but I do think I did what I could with the time I was given. I know things could have been much worse, and I thank all of you for standing behind me this month. It has been a long journey, but one I am proud to have accomplished and content to close the book on. A very wise friend once told me, that its not about the destination, but the journey. Do not forget that we are all in this elife together. I shall be around, doing this and that. I hope to speak to you all again.
