[2] Mattio for Country President - the focus!

Day 1,595, 01:59 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Mattio

Dear reader,

This is the second article I write about my CP candidature. In the next article, I will discuss two breathtaking ideas, along with my National Government.

In the previous article, I announced my candidacy for eNL Country President of April 2012. I am not going to tell you again why I run - either way because I already explained it there or I just forgot the reason... 😉

Every CP candidate makes plans. If you don’t make plans, you’re not serious enough and you don’t deserve being voted for. But what do those plans mean? Actually, as I have read in this great article with my morning cup of coffee by my side, making plans sure is a weird thing to do. Why? Because we already know the plans! 😃 We have read the same plans over and over again at every CP election thus far.

So this means CP’s can’t be compared by their plans. The only way you can compare them is by looking at their focus. I do have plans, don’t mistake me, but those plans are solely there to lay the foundations of my focus. And that’s exactly what this article will be about: my focus! 😃

You may say from the War of the Beers whatever you like, and I think it is great to have a discussion about the pro’s and con’s of that war, but you can’t ignore the fact that it has made our country a lot more active. We once again had something to fight for. I saw this new activity especially at our newer players, who started asking questions and debating about the advantages and ethics of the war. I even left my beloved Alpha Unit MU to help these new players, who were mostly in eNL Army, where I now am highest Commander.

Focus
The players that I’m talking about started (actively) playing eRepublik because they wanted to fight for their country. They had something to fight for, and now that the war is over, we run the risk of losing them. Therefore, we need to make sure they keep interested in the game. That’s where my focus is: we should lay our focus on them.

How?
I don’t believe new players are being convinced by phrases like: “Join the forum or you’re a no-one” and “If you’re not on IRC, you don’t have a voice”. I wouldn’t be very charmed by those words - would you?
What I believe new players are interested in are the media. The ingame media possibilities are not perfect - you can’t have a real debate in it like on the forum and it’s not as fast as IRC - but it is a great way to keep in contact with a lot of people. And that opportunity is not being used enough.

How it’s done...
If elected, I will focus on publishing informative government articles. Not only for new players, but for experienced players as well - who are just as much struggling with the “un-openness” of most eNL governments.
1. I would demand my MoHA to publish a weekly government report. If that’s not done by the MoHA, I would do it myself. No matter how - government updates are crucial for the government’s openness.
2. If possible, I want my MoD to publish a daily battle order in the Battle orders media part. This is not impossible: it was done before and it is being done by a lot of other countries right now!
3. Every monday, between 20:00 and 22:00, I will have a free-for-all question time (“vragenuurtje”) on IRC. Everyone is invited to meet me there and ask whatever he wants to (I like jokes, too). Those questions will be added to an article as well. You could compare this to the popular ‘Ask your CP!’-articles. Questions could be sent by PM as well, of course.
4. At least one government meeting should be organized. This meeting will be summarized in an article (except the classified subjects).
5. Two government translators will be appointed to make sure all articles can be published in decent English and Dutch as well.

These focuses are meant to surely make our country a more active nation. We deserve this, we deserve to be brought to a higher level of activity and relationship between the government and the people. We require a boost and we require a Country President that is able to build a team that is prepared to be open, to be active, to be there for the people.

Always there for you,

I salute,
Mattio
