Join the new world

Dear reader,

It was about 3.5 years ago that I started playing eRepublik. Taking the break of 500 days in my calculation, I have been actively playing eRepublik for 2 years. In those years, I have served in many positions. A small selection: ambassador, European Region Leader, 2x Party President, 9x Congress Member, 2x Minister, 2x State Secretary, 1x Vice President, one of the rare UNLIN-agents, UNL Coach, 4x Debate Master...

I know many of you from the ‘days-long-ago’, when we still had Lana (anyone remembers the word joke?) and we were really pushing our enemy back into the rural area of the battlefield! 😃

But calm down... I am not here to reconcile old memories. I am here to tell you that this month, I will be running for a position that I have not yet held. This month, I will be electable as your Country President.

Sounds good, huh? 😉 Well, it will be!

Last month, I served on one of the ‘hottest’ spots in the eNL Government, as Vice President to Auggustus. Seeing how things are now in my country’s politics feels great, and this is why: when I came back from my 500 days of eComa, my heart was filled with joy. First, because of all the faces I recognized from earlier days, but second, because I saw so, so many new faces in the eNL stage!

The greatest part yet has to come: I have plans! 😃 Can you imagine?!

My goals can be read below, but before I bore you with those uninteresting plans (you should actually read them, they’re nuts), I want to make a call-to-all:

Goal
In the previous month, the Netherlands have felt a great boost in activity. A lot of young players became (more) active and this new activity is very important. We should maintain it. Therefore, I will give our country a government that is capable of keeping up that great new activity, because we deserve it! How I’m gonna do that? Read below!

National Government
Just like last month, all Dutch citizens can apply for a position in a National Government. State Secretary positions will as much as possible be handed out to new players.

Ministries should have the opportunity to set forth their course as much as possible. The ministry tasks are clear and I will ask the Chieff of Staff to keep an eye on the publishing of transparent articles and government updates.

Translations
Transparency starts with talking to your citizens in the right way. The law states that every government article should be published in Dutch and English. I will appoint one or two government translators, that will have the task to translate articles from English to Dutch and vice versa.

Ministry of Defense
If possible, I want a daily MoD-battle order.
To be clear: there will be no new war with Belgium. However, the war made a lot of new players active on the battlefield and to keep them active, I want to show to EDEN that the Netherlands can be a strong and reliable ally. In the past month, we haven’t been very fruitful to our alliance, but we will be again this month! After all: we need to keep our tanks warm, don’t we?!

Ministry of Home Affairs
One of the tasks of the MoHA is to keep track of the immigrants that want to enter the Netherlands, via the Security Council of Immigrants. The MoHA will get two State Secretaries, of which one will have the task of organizing the SCI. The other will do the same as the SSoHA does now.
The MoHA will continue publishing transparent articles and will publish a gov-update every week. I will keep this up very strictly: if the MoHA doesn’t publish an update, I will do it myself.

Ministry of Recruitment and Coaching
This ministry will be especially important in my government. The war with Belgium brought us new and fresh players, that are eagerly wanting to get involved in the Netherlands. The MoRC will have two State Secretaries to make sure that players are being coached.

Openness
New players should be addressed via the media, before they feel the urge to join us on the forum and IRC. Therefore, I will make sure that my government shows its ass often enough to tell what the heck they are doing.

I believe that it is very important that a President is there for his people to talk with him. Therefore, I will be consequently available for questions, complaints and jokes on IRC on Monday, between 20:00 and 22:00 solely to speak with people. See this as a‘question hour’ (vragenuurtje), comparable to ‘Ask your CP!’. Of course, I’m active on most other days as well, just as I am now. The questions and answers will also be added to an article for everyone to read.
A government meeting will be organized at least once and a summary of that meeting (except the classified subjects) will be published by me or the vice President.
