M. de Ruyter interview

Recently I published an article covering responses I received from the party presidents of the Netherlands to some questions I asked. In the course of my discussion with M. de Ruyter the idea of having an interview was proposed. I asked M. de Ruyter 10 questions, here are his responses.

1. What initially made you join erepublik, and what has made you stay as long as you have?
I joined when I read in my newspaper that eNL needed ppl to help the country.

2. What jobs and positions have you held during your time playing erepublik?
I started out as a vice MoFA, been many times MoFA after that, even SC of EDEN, and 10X CP 😉

3. Of these jobs which would you say has helped prepare you the most for being cp and why?
By being SC I learned a lot more about the feelings there are in our e-world, as in who likes who. But especially that it's all about who you know, and have established good relations with. Maintaining these relationships is paramount to keeping the reputation of the Netherlands as one which is a good ally.

4. What do you feel is the biggest issue facing the Netherlands right now?
The biggest issue in eNL is that there are some ppl who like to play it dirty, and use the law as they see fit, and then blame my side for not following their rules XD Those guys have the law over the fatherland 🙁

5. If elected, how do you intend on addressing the problem you identifies in question 4?
By informing them, and just keep on giving them the facts. In the (vain) hope they will finally see. 😛 You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

6. You are currently party president of the Geuzen Partij Nederland party which states that it fights for the little guy. If elected how will you fight for the little guy in the Netherlands?
We basically made each and every coaching article there is, for the exception the ones made by Djirtsdew, he's also a gem. Maintaining a comprehensive education effort for new players is a top priority.

7. You have been cp 10 (holy s**t) times, what makes this cp run different than those times, what makes it similar?
I'm running for the highest post, to serve the folks of eNL, and to safeguard the country from loathers and populists, who are here only for their own gain, and leave the country at the first sign of danger, as they all did so before. 😛

8. The admins recently released some major changes to the game, primarily the ability to gain revenue from owning regions, and a determination bonus for regions occupied for long periods of time. How do you see these changes effecting the Netherlands in general, and more specifically in terms of your region renting agreement with Canada.

9. Who do you consider to be the Netherlands most important allies at the moment, are their any countries with which you would like to improve relations?
Our best and most important allies are China, Croatia, Albania, Canada, Eire, Norge. Even both Brasil and Argentina are our good friends! As such a small country we don't have a lot of enemies. 😉 This last gov didn't take good care of our allies, and allied themselves with Belgium and Japan. 🙁 I want to tighten bonds with our true allies and friends again!

10. What do you consider to be the most important domestic issue facing the Netherlands and how do you intend on combating it.
The most important domestic issue seems keeping Weekstrom as our MoF and MG, as the populists want him out, to, probably, get their hands in our state coffers! This has happened in the past, nearly two years ago now and is something we cannot allow to happen again.
