Every article i write now concerning the Rolo ordeal I like to personally consider a countdown to something else we can talk about. Because Yeah trust me I'm as sick of it as you are if not more. Never forget I shot half of you in anger over Rolo and enjoyed every second of it.
The offer was given and formally acceptted by Rolo. I was asked to oversee matters on Rolo's behalf in the forum courts, which I acceptted all things considered.
This is more or less an update.
My formal statement approved by the round chocolate bar.
"Rolo has informed me he needs a representative for this and after being asked I'm willing. He has indeed agreed to try and settle this matter once and for all with a sign of wanting to make a restitutional repayment with myself paying a part as well.
The offer is basically re-opening the old settlement time frame for the one time offer of 960 gold I think it was that was to be paid in one weeks time. I'm asking if that offer can be remade and paid.
If this is acceptable i'd like a few days to discuss with rolo a timeframe for his repayment which i think sooner made the better.
Myself i would like some flexibility of 200g upfront if agreed upon and 2 months of 2 payments to clear my half of the bargain.
I would like full forum and IRC status given to rolo upon his restitutional payment and the courts to have patience and some leinancy while they wait for mine in full".
After a few traded back PM's I've come to the conclusion Rolo feared actual acceptance if he took the first step and is happy I'm willing to bridge the gap.
Were not bringing an empty shell back into the fold there is honor left to be salvaged.
I know many are on the fence concerning this all I ask is have an open mind and be open to the future. Don't forget the past because I never will but give a chance for something better.
The ball is currently in the courts hands.
I hope a beneficial solution can be reached because I think I've done as much as one player can do to try and resolve this.

The screen shots that he released recently show that he had 452 gold.
my only qualm about the Rolo situation was one of having blind forgiveness taking the place of earned rehabilitation .

Forgiveness is given with no expectation of consideration in return.
Rolo's transgressions were too large for one person to give, it will take a community to forgive him.
Rolo stated he will reconcile. Reconciliation is done for the act itself, not in expectation of consideration or return.
BTW, it's not about the gold.

True, but as that is a blind ideal, i dont subscribe to it without condition.
in order for me to provide idealistic acceptance, i always require conditions. If one cannot provide them, then nothing is lost, in the long run, as nothing of value was involved, QED.
You have no authority, power or standing in this matter Rylde.
The wheels are in motion...let the matter come to closure ASAP.
As for the forum admins...once the fine is paid and the matter is closed, it would be wildly inappropriate not to restore access. Rest assured, you will be called out on that if you fail in your part of closing the matter.
Forums admins are just admins...they are NOT the hand of God (or whatever deity you worship)

you seem to actually believe this business about the admins and traps and other Rolo rationalizations, on absolutely no evidence. In fact the evidence is all the other way. But it doesn't matter.
If the community wants the matter resolved in this fashion it will happen. I don't much like the idea of creating an advance furor to help. That is how things are often done in eCanada, but it isn't necessarily the best way. It is "advance furor" that led to Rolo's impeachment in the first place. The consequences have been painful.
Seems fitting that it could end the same way as it began Olly.

Noble, but not acceptable. It would be a good first step, but not nearly enough. He stole something in the neighborhood of 5000 Gold, 200000 CAD and a slew of Q5 companies (at least 2), plus their Orgs, so he would have to pay it all back, to be fair

certainly, a noble gesture is not the same as an acceptable compromise. I no longer have any opinion about acceptable. I do suggest that the Court permit differing opinions to be expressed and argued, including any alternatives. That is the point of "advance furor": setting things up to appear as if the choice is between "acceptance" and "cataclysm". The gesture is noble notwithstanding the outcome.
Reasonable does not mean accommodating ,it means capable of recognizing the process and product of reasoning thought.
Reason seldom swings in any manner at all, as its generally about empirical proof. Rationalization is what can swing back and forth.
Rationalization is usually about situation and mood.
reason admits and requires a multitude of inferences from the observed. It undoubtedly swings. Hence, I reasonably disagree with you. 🙂
Rylde, I'll be happy if he pays it all back. I don't think that's unreasonable at all. If people want to lower their standards, well, that's on them. They deserve exactly what they will get, which won't be much. Personally, I think having standards is a good thing, but that's just me.

Don't expect one entrenched portion of eCanada to lulz their way into forgiveness. Give some people credit, man.
Plugson.. I was merely talking Forgiveness. It's up to Rolo if there is to be reconciliation. Of course, I do realize that for some, forgiveness will not be an option. To each their own.
Your comment meant well, Wilhelm. Rylde means well with his noble and selfless offer of forgiveness. This is good for Rylde because he is ready. Should others be so noble? Perhaps, but not merely to capture the good feeling Rylde received.
People will choose not to follow his suit. Are they letting Rolo, Rylde, or eCanada down? Of course not. They have done no wrong and feel they have been wronged instead. It would be unfortunate if some (not you in this case, Wilhelm) hold Rylde up as an example that should be emulated and then shame others for not following Rylde's lead.
Forgiveness is a personal step that cannot be mandated. Some will have greater needs for reconciliation, as Pimpdollaz and Saltydog rightly pointed out.
So we're asking him to pay back less than 1/5th of what he stole, with Rylde covering half of it. So Rolo will be paying back less than 1/10th of what he stole. A pathetic display of justice.

The amount he took was vastly larger than this. Rolo has 30 companies, most of which were either directly stolen or purchased with stolen funds. He rakes in massive profits from these companies on a daily basis (and used to rake it in with the Monetary market before these new rules).

the comments about "its a slap on the wrist", "are you insane" and "its a steal" were not made by me. They were made by TemujinBC, Muglack and Jacobi, when the sentence was imposed. It was considered woefully inadequate and the Court was blamed for being woefully lenient.
"960" gets a lot of play, probably because it's an easy number to remember and a direct solution.
The 960 was just one option and the other two remain as valid as the 960...my favourite of the three being:
"Alternative 3: Within the next 10 days, the offender shall present to the Court a concrete proposal satisfactory to the Court."

I dunno but has there ever been a proposal? And if not, why would we automatically default to the 960 instead of the proposal or the 750 on April 1st, 2012?

True, but repentance is required else it is an encouragement unto, and even potentially an excusal of, crime. Forgiving something doesn't mean what is forgiven suddenly ceases to actually be a wrongdoing or crime.
Furthermore, we cannot forgive crimes committed against others, but only ourselves. If by "forgiving" Rolo, we forget the real victims of his crime(s), then we do not forgive, but actually participate in, his crime.

Maybe you really are a Communist, like I jested some time ago, and that explains your complete ignorance of even the most basic religious nomenclature. What you must have meant to say is "or whomever or whatever it is you worship or submit to", if you meant to include communists/atheists, polytheists and the rest.
I am sure it will be an interesting insight into rolo's absolute unrepentance to read his postings when he has forum access reinstated.
