Three Phoenix Countries Conquered, Day 1063

Day 1,063, 16:39 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

Following the events of the previous day, EDEN countries continued their offensive on their Phoenix counterparts and have three Phoenix nations fighting for their survival. eSlovenia lost its enclave and its existence for the time being, followed later in the day by eTurkey, while eRussia also collapsed near server reset time. Meanwhile, the eUSA has moved to eIndonesia’s doorstep, but was briefly delayed before turning on eSerbia's territories in Southeast Asia.

eCroatia’s flag flies high over eSlovenia and has
pushed the eSlovenian flag to the background

Slovenia Removed from Germany, the Map
For the second time in under a year, eSlovenia has been conquered by eCroatia. Although it took longer than the two-day campaign from Days 770-772, eCroatia managed to win eSlovenia’s last native region on Day 1062, and with ePoland and additional EDEN backing, involuntarily returned Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg via a resistance war (RW) to eGermany earlier in Day 1063. For now, eSlovenia is no more. If it remains occupied until 25 October (Day 1070), the eSlovenes will be without a Congress and hard-pressed to function properly in the coming month; citizenships could become free and make the country ripe for political takeover (PTO) as EDEN and Phoenix both vie to take control through the political module. To attempt to mitigate against these possibilities, an RW in Lower Carniola was launched, but has been steadily opposed thus far.

Greece Overruns Anatolia, Conquers Turkey
Following its overwhelming victory in Southeastern Anatolia early in Day 1063, eGreece put eTurkey’s final remaining region, Eastern Anatolia, under attack at 01:40 eRepublik time. The EDEN aggressor dominated every phase of the battle and was poised to remove its heated rival before Day 1063 draws to a close. Possibly in anticipation, eTurkey unsuccessfully attempted an RW in Aegean Coast of Turkey late in Day 1063, giving the Phoenix state a fighting chance at returning to the map the following day. In all likelihood, however, Anatolia may remain under the eGreek banner for the foreseeable future, although both eTurkey and eGreece are experiencing massive births of little Phoenix babies and little EDEN babies who will help shape the future themselves. For now, eTurkey is being relegated to the same fate as eSlovenia, who are both in the danger of not electing a Congress and being exposed to the possibility of PTO if they remain occupied on Day 1070.

eRussia's final region has been attacked, while four enemy countries' flags fly over its others

Russia Falls to Poland
At 06:32, eRussia restarted the simmering ePolish-eRussian war by opening an attack on the ePolish-occupied Northern Russia. Under an hour later, ePoland countered and targeted the final eRussian region remaining on the map, Western Siberia. As with the Anatolian conflict, the EDEN power was firmly in control here on both fronts throughout the fight, and a second EDEN power, eRomania, easily suppressed any attempt at resurrection through RW, as well. With four countries jointly occupying parts of eRussia, it will be difficult to stage an effective resistance to liberate every region. Time will not be on eRussia’s side, either, as its economy will feel the pinch quickly and only serve the interests of the occupying powers. eRussia’s future may look similar to the eUSA’s fate in the summer of 2009, when it remained occupied to some extent (though never wiped out entirely) by as many as six PEACE members.

USA Conquers Southern Thailand, Temporarily Delayed before Moving on Serbia
The eUSA took Southern Thailand with minimal struggle and has opened the doors of Southeast Asia. There was no immediate advance towards eIndonesia’s mainland or eSerbia’s colonies, however, because of an ongoing resistance war which opened in Southern Thailand and has temporarily halted the eUSA’s progress. Such a maneuver only provided temporary relief for Phoenix in Southeast Asia, as the eUSA could launch an attack from Southern Thailand once the RW closes, and did so. The more sensible move would be to attack eSerbia to deny the stronger country a chance of directly intervening in eIndonesia, and to undermine the regions’ economic significance; nevertheless, the call for touching eIndonesia may be too tempting to wait, and may supersede more tactical objectives in the coming days. Sure enough, the eUSA went with tactical over personal gratification and turned on eSerbian-occupied Eastern Thailand

On the Horizon
With three Phoenix countries eliminated, the present situation does not look promising for the alliance. These countries’ futures may also look bleak, particularly if Phoenix were to focus primarily on defending its Southeast Asia possessions, and they remain occupied into Congressional Elections. EDEN, on the other hand, is enjoying a level of dominance not seen since the winter months, when eSpain, ePoland, and eCroatia covered Europe while the eUSA traversed much of Asia and pursued Phoenix holdings. How long their success lasts this time will depend on how well the countries are able to cooperate amongst each other, and how Phoenix chooses to wage their liberation campaign-- they may have lots of new babies coming to help them. This should make for an interesting few weeks or months.

God Bless America,

Lt. Scheisskopf
