USA Opens Offensive in Southeast Asia as Battles Flare in Anatolia, Day 1062

Day 1,062, 17:22 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

Day 1062 brought along an interesting blend of diplomacy and new military challenges, which combined, will assure continued conflict to resonate through the New World. One major theater of battle may have closed with a peaceful resolution, while a new campaign commences and challenges an untouched nation. To add to everything, two recurring sources of conflict return to the surface with increased vigor today.

Pakistan, India, USA Address Ongoing Conflict in the Indian Subcontinent
With the Indian conflict lasting well into its second week, eUSA President Colin Lantrip announced a peaceful resolution to the three-sided conflict unfolding across India. In return for cessation of conflict, eIndia will remain on the map in North Eastern India, while the eUSA will not target any additional regions held by ePakistan (including Karnataka); ePakistan, for its part, will no longer sponsor or back any anti-eUS or anti-EDEN maneuvers, while all three countries will keep Phoenix removed from the subcontinent. It is a tenuous deal with concessions on all sides, but peace has come to the subcontinent for the time being.

With peace in the Indian subcontinent, the eUSA moved on Southern Thailand and could threaten eIndonesia’s native regions (blue-grey), or eSerbian territories with a win

USA Moves on Indonesia, Serbian Southeast Asia
In conjunction with Colin Lantrip’s declaration, the eUSA turned from Tamil Nadu in India towards Thailand, attacking eIndonesian-occupied Southern Thailand at 15:47 eRepublik time on Day 1062. Southern Thailand is the strategic linchpin connecting the Indian subcontinent to Southeast Asia and Oceania, which has hosted numerous occupants throughout the New World’s history; the eUSA previously occupied it when they were tenants of Karnataka, while eSerbia and eIndonesia have also held it to protect their own possessions. For this reason, Southern Thailand is critical for Phoenix to defend, as a loss in this battle will expose eIndonesia’s Sumatra as well as some of eSerbia’s high resource territories. Were the eUSA to win in Southern Thailand, the question for eUS leadership will be ‘who becomes the first target,’ as both fights could be fiercely contested and simultaneously challenging both could end in twin defeats. Day 1063 and 1064 may hold the answers here.

eTurkey is reduced to two remaining regions and has one under attack, but four RWs (circled) may be able to recover its territories in the next 24 hours

Six Fights Emerge in Anatolia
Although fighting has been continuous in Anatolia, eGreece and eTurkey intensified their efforts on Day 1062, with six attacks and resistance wars (RWs) taking place throughout the day. The EDEN nation has controlled the tempo in this theater of battle after having conquered five of eTurkey’s seven regions, but it was the Phoenix member who started the day’s action with an assault on Black Sea Coast of Turkey at 01:19 eRep time. eGreece countered 8 hours later by attacking one of eTurkey’s two remaining possessions, Southeastern Anatolia, and has handily dominated both campaigns. Were eGreece to hold both battles, eTurkey would be reduced to one remaining region and on life support; probably in anticipation of this scenario, four RWs emerged in Central Anatolia, Mediterranean Coast of Turkey, Aegean Coast of Turkey, and Marmara throughout Day 1062. Much to eTurkey’s detriment, all four RWs have failed to show any signs of success and may end up secured the following day. It is possible that eGreece may delay on attacking eTurkey’s remaining region, Eastern Anatolia, until closer to Congressional elections, so that the Phoenix nation is unable to elect a Congress for the month of November. It remains to be seen what will take place on this front in the days ahead, and it will be interesting to see how eGreece plans their next steps.

Slovenia's Existence Endangered
eCroatia completed its conquest of neighboring eSlovenia with its conquest of Lower Carniola on Day 1062. eSlovenia is not removed from the map, despite no longer holding a native region, since it also holds a naturally eGerman region of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg; however, Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg has come under an EDEN-backed RW and is in danger of falling. Were S-H&H to fall, it would ensure that eSlovenia would be eliminated for the time being, although the most important date would be Day 1070, when Congressional elections are held. As with eTurkey, eSlovenia may be put in the uncomfortable position of not having a chance to elect representatives or have a government for the coming month. If this holds, eSlovenia would be ripe for political takeover (PTO), as it would have no body to screen citizenship requests or do basic duties of its government.

The Way Ahead
Day 1062 may be a gatekeeping day, as several future possibilities lie in the balance of today’s actions. For the first time in history, eIndonesia may face invasion, while eSerbia’s high resource territories in Asia may be put in jeopardy with an eUSA victory in Southern Thailand, while eTurkey and eSlovenia’s viable existences are being challenged. We may look back on the events of Day 1062 and give them credit for shaping the future of the New World, but for now, we must see what lies in store for all of eRepublik.

God Bless America,
