Is history interesting? [20 gold giveaway for opinions]
Roger Griswald
Or should I just do a giveaway?
It's nice to breath some air again. For those of you who don't know me, I have been leapfrogging through eRepublik time for about 5 years now. And about a month ago I awoke to check out where things are at. I am a rather old eRepublican and used to play the game at a stupidly time-consuming level.
In this most recent awakening, it looks like eCanada is doing well and has a growing and engaged community.
However, I have noticed that very little culture and history is promoted in-game. Given that the forums and IRC are long dead, I assume that the only way people share content these days are via the in-game social feed and newspaper articles.
As a person that chronicled a few years of the game, via this newspaper (check out my old articles), I wondered if the community would find interest in me sharing some old stories of mega battles won and lost, political shenanigans that gutted our country, or the level of international espionage that crippled opponents during elections.
However, this may be too boring for some. In which case I am happy to share some of my gold horde in giveaways or draws.
Or maybe I could do a bit of both.
Let me know what you prefer. I will gift 20 gold to a randomly selected commenter on day 5,138.
Love and kisses,
Roger

Stories of times gone by, reliving the old days. These are things that are always enjoyable, especially for those who were around at the time (and many Canadians that are still kicking were around from the days of yore)
I'd say go for it, relive those days, the fun stories. Heaven knows we don't quite get such epic times anymore (just the occasional close call battle that results in people complaining about the other side using bots)
Don't put me into the draw for the gold
Ah, the olden days. Remember when 8.50 CAD a day was a seriously good wage, when our currency was worth 29 CAD to the Gold. Those were the days.. When national currencies weren't interchangeable and you could have stockpiles of each.
I remember when we made a big deal about day 1,000 because that was like, 3 YEARS of play.
Acacia Mason and I used to make a radio show, and I found out I apparently sound like everyone's dad. Good times.
I'd suggest making it 2 prizes of 10 gold each, after all the old 10 gold a day per person limit is still there.
Goran Thrax
I remembered his podcasts. I wonder if they're still up somewhere.
Yes sir. Link to podcast is in Acacia's profile. I was surprised to see that the link still works. https://www.erepublik.com/en/citizen/profile/2081038
Oh yes. There were two shows: Northern Exposure and No Pants No Secrets with adasko and fram.

I like the word shenanigans, and I like old stories. And I like to suggest making it 6 times 3,33333 gold.
Growing and engaged community?
The hell you talkin aboot?
Im always down to listen to some history of the days of old. Plugson and Acacia were good for that years back before i retired for a number of years.
Now everyone's droppin a 1 billion damage in a fight for medals and i cant even crack 100 mil with my energy and booster.
It would be pretty interesting to get some history, both to learn a few things and to bring back some memories.
I won't say no to giveaways either.
Yeah I remember spending quite sometime on ecanada forum .. and battles had a list of geography and history questions hahah
Good reading those archive, thanks for sharing.

Pros and cons in both former times and now. Gameplay is different with less role playing.
There's an active eCan discord server that functions as IRC set up by Mann551.
I remember you well. Good to see you back and writing. eCan is thriving and in good hands. I choose to leave it alone and quietly enjoy the ride
There were so many players back then with so many story lines and great e-journalism.
I think these kinds of things are what gives depth to the game. sharing history and insights.
Congrats @grindarkly, you won the draw for 20 gold. Sent just now.
What??? That's crazy. thank you. it will most likely eventually go toward another draw at some point. but it will help all around.
tell the story about when Rylde used to be cool.
Those days have sadly passed never to return.
time will tell. He truly was epic.
A bit of both is nice
Please tell the stories of days past. I'd read 'em for sure.
Welcome back. Friend request sent.
