In Memoriam

Day 995, 13:29 Published in Belgium USA by MaryamQ
Hello, eBelgium,

Last week I promised to spend some time remembering those who are no longer with us. As today is the beginning of a month of fasting and reflection for me in RL (and consequently may mean that I am spending less time on the game), and is also the day suggested as El Dia de los eMuertos in an article by Phoenix Quinn, this seems like an appropriate time for this change of pace.

The dead eCitizen who is of greatest interest to me, not only because he seems representative of many others who have left us, but also because he is my RL son, is Henry Baragh VIII. Henry was born on day 668 of the New World, and died in Singapore before the start of V2, although I notice his skills have been transferred to V2 equivalents. He lived a number of places in his eLife, mostly fairly quietly, but trying to find a way to be prosperous, like many other eCitizens. He started a coffee company, had a newspaper, and achieved the rank of lieutenant. He is listed at level 20. Shortly after he started playing the game, he suggested that I might also find it interesting, and although I have not played it the same way he did, I have been playing ever since, and have found a home in eBelgium, which I like so much that I have suggested that he come back and give our country a try. When Henry decided to leave the game earlier this year because he felt he was spending too much real money on it, he left me a house, some food, and quite a bit more gold and currency than I had previously possessed. Some of this I used to buy a Q3 house that is now rapidly disintegrating, and some I gave away, mostly to Res Belgica, but also some to eBelgium, both of which should, therefore, be grateful for his too short eLife.

In reviewing my friends list, which is now mostly confined to eBelgians as I removed several others a while ago, I find only one other dead citizen, Dries Van Horebeek, born on day 876, and died at level 15 in Belgium, but I see others who have been active and important here and appear to be dying, such as Gibberish45, and am aware of others who have said they are leaving the game, such as 07raul07 and Niemand. I am sure you all know many more than this. Let us all pause to remember them and what they have contributed to our eLives. The one good thing I note is that, while the eDead have 0 health, they have 100 happiness, leading me to suppose they are in a better place.

Rest in peace, our friends!

May Aldous grant us wisdom to live and die well!

Incidentally, for some reason my article from last week seems to have disappeared completely. Such is life in V2!
