156,000 e-citizens are likely to die on August 11th, the most massive die-off (I am guessing) in eRepublik history. A testimony to dissatisfaction with V2, people have abandoned the game in droves. Bored. Not willing to play a "game" that so much like real life in the way it fetishises commodities and is so unlike real life in the way it sanctifies the nation over civilized humanity. They're just not interested any more. Alienated. Call it what you like. These legions of players are done with it. Vaya con Dio, amigos.
This will be added to the long roll-call of citizens, friends and comrades who have already left the game voluntarily, particularly since the advent of eRepublik Gold Rush!, er.., I mean eRepublik Rising.
Some of us, of course, are too addicted to leave (yet). Some still hold onto a slim hope of being able to transform the game -- to be able to play our game -- rather than slipping deeper and deeper into the never-quite-satisfying void-within-a-void of Dear Admin's alienating matrix.
In any case. Whatever your poison... here is a proposition. Let's celebrate the spirits of the dead. Let's emulate our Mexican brothers and sisters and borrow their annual dance with the hangman by setting aside one day to remember, laugh, visit and cavort with the e-deceased.
On August 11th, lay down your e-arms, take a day off from e-work, forget about your e-enemies. Instead, post a comment in your paper or in someone else's paper, or in your favorite forum or chat channel celebrating, even if in some small way, those whose presence here in the New-ish World will not be forgotten.
If you can't wait until the 11th, feel free to use the comment section of this article to say a few words about our departed e-ones.
Apropos of not much... a few tips o' the hat...
CCCP Tools for eRepublik are back up and working. Lots o' commie goodness there: company tools, productivity calculator, health and happiness calculator.
Also, this is a great article. Read it at your own risk. The Nation of the Commodity: Bourgeois-Nationalist Ideology.

V/S, good article. I am a zombie.
😃
Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "socialismo o muerte".
'So, if you're frightened of dying and... you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth.'
That's from Jacob's Ladder, a film I've never seen, but I know it from Radiohead's 'Rabbit In Your Headlights'.
Interesting idea. I will be thinking about this in my own newspaper, and of course will link to yours. Thank you. Thanks also for the link to Johnobrow Dadds' most interesting article. I've voted and subscribed there, as well.
Thanks Maryam. 😃
