Hey, Remember That Guy? (Pt. 3)
Longbaugh
Three is my favorite number, so welcome to the third installment of my 137,212 part series:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3: Dio Akira
The false god that fled the flock, Dio Akira is nonetheless a legend of the game.
A personal friend of Dio Brando’s IRL, he was the second person to ever brandish the “Dio” moniker—after Dio himself. But, despite his namesake, he was no deity.
He neither conjured nor conquered sandworms. He was never "of the sand". He merely moved to a vulnerable country and exerted his will. It was a will that commanded great warriors who were eveready to answer his call and command—the likes of Colinar, Donovan Thomas, and Dio Maksas.
It was a will that accumulated its own flock of spiritual separatists who claimed to serve Dio Brando, but only ever really served Dio Akira’s Theocracy.
Theocracy, as any Theocrat from the ages would tell you, was about war and gold. It was the strongest branch of Dioism in terms of might and wealth, though it was not the first. Yusuphist Dioism—an orthodox denomination that followed the death of Abdul Yusuf—was the first branch. It was followed by a brief and particularly pathetic offshoot that adopted the “teachings” of Phaedrus Lidox (mostly hairstyling tips).
Then came Theocracy, and Dio Akira (who was then by far the richest player in the game) migrated his people to Switzerland, where they established a second "Empire of Dio" based on war... and gold.
I know of only a handful of Theocrats outside of Italy that are still alive, though none of them represent the faith anymore.
As it should be.
He was a master commander, but Dio Akira was no god—he sure as hell had a problem with my very public insistence on the matter. Nonetheless, the man successfully paraded himself as more than just a man and made a ton of gold... and he is a legend of the game for doing so.
Frankly, I always thought he was a prissy prick.

I do.
Great series you're working on, keep it up.
Almost shed a manly tear on this one.
Theocrats were active in SK as well, after Switzerland. Also Theocracy was pretty much an abomination of Dioism.
I remember the Theocrats but not Akira.
Theocracy was more than an abomination of Dioism. It was the antithesis.
♥♥ SLIA ! ♥♥
😁That comment means the world to me. Thank you.
Some of them came with us in 2010... Cigarra, Collinar, etc.
Dio Maksas was fun. He left for a bit, now he is back: http://www.erepublik.com/en/citizen/profile/4392344
Flashgun was fun too.
Their flag was brilliant, the one they used in SK. I can't find my copy of it. The Switzerland one on the wiki isn't nearly as good.
Ofc Grainne is still here, but you already see her comment above. 😁

Thought not in full resolution.
Also, I meant the original Flashgun, not the current Kanadian.
I remember this. This was going on when I started. In fact, my very first article (under my first account) was about Parrot in South Korea. Scrabman commented thinking I was a multi because I was so well-versed on the situation for being a noob.
The original, Brazilian fag Sparta ? heheheh
Yep, that guy. 😁
What's with the whole Medjugore thing??

Much promise you have, Drumble.
¡¡¡SILENT LEGES INTER ARMA!!!
I remember that Benn Dover guy. He was quite the gentleman and had a huge wang to boot. Sometimes he would, in fact, boot it due to it hanging very close to his feet.
Don't worry, I'm going to do a Benn Dover/Uncle Sam double feature.
I know this guy you can interview. He's got connections. And a great smile.
You know how to reach me.
SILENT LEGES INTER ARMA
You never understood Dioism and Theocracy. And this is the proof.
Unfaithful you were born, unfaithful you will die.
I will pray for your soul in Theocratic Pantheon.
SILENT LEGES INTER ARMA!
Votes for great spite
I'll give points to Dio Akira for not changing his name like his bastard son.
How could one forget the name? I can't speak to Dio Akira's actions. but the Theocratic Nation looms large in my memories as a nebulous entity who I mostly had no reason to communicate with. Except Colliar, I got on well with Collinar from the beginning.
I was involved in US government, specifically dirty tricks and tradecraft, so I was party to many discussions the topic of which was often "do we think the theocrats would help? someone needs to talk to them and find out what they're willing to do." Sadly I was not a Dioist at the time, nor have I ever been rich like a Theo, so I didn't really understand the Theos or even try to. I know they were having fun though.
Thanks for posting this. I've got eRep alzheimer's, articles like this are a treat.
This series is great. Please keep it up. As was said earlier, for younger players like myself it's highly interesting to read and makes me wish I'd found this game sooner.
v
It is great to read these articles that induces nostalgia and make everyone realize the legacy that Dioism enjoys.
I was there :3
