France, Indonesia Continue Attacks in Europe, Asia, Day 1077

Day 1,077, 12:07 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes in my previous article. Since publication on Day 1075, eFrance has continued its advance on eSpain despite a resistance war (RW) onslaught, which gave ePortugal some breathing room in its own right. Southeast Asia has heated up, as eIndonesia now fights eAustralia and the eUSA at once, while eSerbia has been reduced to one region.

Portugal Slowly Returning as France Attacks Spain
While eSpain has been embroiled in other fronts, ePortugal retook control over Norte and Centro late in Day 1075 via resistance wars (RWs). Much of the Iberian Peninsula remains under eSpanish occupation; however, when combined with eBrazil’s successful attack against eSpanish-occupied Madeira on Day 1076, the ePortuguese are slowly regaining their regions. Future RWs can be a valuable tool for Phoenix, as starting them would divert EDEN defenses and be almost entirely contested by eSpanish fighters, since other fronts (eFrance and eBrazil) would likely take a higher priority in the eyes of the rest of EDEN.

A wave of RWs unfolded across eFrench-occupied Spain on Day 1076, with only Castilla y Leon falling in eSpain’s favor. eFrance continued their offensive by attacking the northern region of Aragon in the afternoon hours of Day 1076, and re-attacked Castilla y Leon at 09:29 on Day 1077. Retaking Castilla y Leon would put eFrance in striking distance of Asturias and Madrid both, and would enable their campaign to continue. eSpain has kept eFrance’s advance fairly contained to the northern regions, and have not yet allowed the eFrench to win a valuable region. When eSpain will be able to make its own counterattack remains to be seen.

Indonesia Opens Two-Front Campaign
eUSA attacked eSerbian Peninsula Malaysia at 08:40 on Day 1076, about one hour before taking fire on its holding at Southern Thailand against eSerb attack. With eUS successes on both fronts, Day 1077 brought a new adversary to the fray, as eIndonesia attacked Southern Thailand at 07:52 and Peninsular Malaysia minutes later. Meanwhile, eSerbia’s final region in Southeast Asia, Sarawak, has been targeted by a RW; because Sarawak is eSerbia’s sole remaining territory in the region, protecting the region is taking high priority for the Phoenix power-- although an attack on the relatively insignificant Sabah is designed to give eSerbia a remaining position if they did lose Sarawak. Regardless, the RW will likely fail as a result, but this struggle shows how fragile eSerbia’s position in SE Asia is. It will take some headway by eIndonesia to reverse momentum in the area for eSerbia and the Phoenix alliance.

With eSerbia taking some damage, eIndonesia has attacked eUS-occupied Southern
Thailand (1) and Peninsular Malaysia (2), along with eAustralia's Northern Territory (3)

eIndonesia also attacked eAustralia’s Southern Australia on Day 1076, which was hard-fought but ultimately protected. At 02:07 eRep time on Day 1077, the Phoenix member attacked Northern Territory, a highly valuable region for its high titanium. Both sides know what is at stake, which suggests why the battle has been very evenly contested. The eIndonesian-eAustralian front is important on a more strategic level as well, since eAustralia continues to divert eIndonesian attention away from the eUSA front and could attack eIndonesia’s mainland if this front progressed in the EDEN power’s favor. Northern Territory’s outcome will determine whether eAustralia remains on the defensive, or if they can turn the tables on the eIndonesian attacker.

What's Next
The eSpanish front will take time to develop; eSerbia, however, could be a very short story. If eSerbia were to lose Sarawak or otherwise be removed from Southeast Asia, death bells could begin to ring for eIndonesia, who would be surrounded by hostile adversaries on its borders. eSerbia may not be able to keep running and buying time, especially if the eUSA was able to take additional regions from them. It will remain to be seen how SE Asia develops in the coming days.

God Bless America,
