Brazil Regains NoB, Attacks Spain, Day 1075

Day 1,075, 14:17 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

The Southern Hemisphere is dominating international focus on Day 1075, as one Phoenix power recovered its most valuable region while resistance wars (RWs) are the main sources of conflict elsewhere. There is also a birthday looming upon us...

Brazil Retakes North of Brazil
eBrazil retook its most valuable region, the resource haven North of Brazil (No😎, after a hard-fought resistance war fell in Phoenix’s favor. In doing so, eBrazil reverses the eSpanish conquest of NoB from Day 1071, having succeeded with an RW where previous conventional attacks fell short. Building on its successes, eBrazil opened an attack on eSpain’s Canary Islands at 12:19, targeting the stepping stone which links Europe and South America, just seconds before eSpain attempted a new attack on the recently reclaimed NoB. Both countries are focusing on offense and winning only in the battles they started, as of publication time.

eBrazil has retaken North of Brazil (circled), and have turned the eSpaniards' battle plans against them by attacking Canary Islands (squared), one step from eSpain's mainland

eBrazil last held the Canary Islands along with portions of Southern Spain in early September 2009 (you can tell it’s been a while since Mainegreen was reporting then) 🙂 If eBrazil successfully conquered the Canary Islands this time, while also protecting NoB, we could see the Phoenix power target Andalucia and enter mainland eSpain. The conditions would be ripe for eBrazilian intervention in Iberia, considering that in 2009, eSpain was also under invasion from the North by eFrance…

France Experiences Setbacks in Spanish Offensive
Since conquering Castilla y Leon on Day 1072, eFrance has lost three straight battles in its campaign against eSpain, as the eSpaniards have successfully protected Madrid (their capital), Asturias (their iron hub), and the relatively inconsequential Cantabria since then. However, eFrance remains on the doorsteps of eSpain’s key regions and has still dictated the course of this front. Its latest attack, against eSpain’s Basque Country, offers little material or strategic value, but eFrance's victory there is a 'feel good’ win after having been on the losing end of the last three fights on this battlefront. eFrance's resurgence in Northern Spain, combined with an eBrazilian attack from the south, could seriously challenge eSpain’s ability to protect itself and its key regions in the coming days.

eSerbia (orange) is attacking eMalaysian Peninsular Malaysia, while the eUSA is protecting Southern Thailand (squared) from RW and unable to advance anywhere in the mean time

Resistance Wars Abound in Southeast Asia
Since eIndonesia’s foray against eUSA-occupied Tamil Nadu was ultimately blocked after a fierce fight, RWs have come to dominate the pace of warfare in Southeast Asia. While the eUSA had conquered Southern Thailand, it has had to fight off two immediate RW attempts, with one coming on Day 1074[/urfl] and a second new RW started on Day 1075 after the previous failed. The only region to change hands here has come via RW, as eSerbia lost control of Peninsular Malaysia early in Day 1075, as an RW pried it away; however, the region has been attacked once more, and is likely to fall to the Phoenix attacker. Nevertheless, unless the eUSA loses Southern Thailand or RWs stop long enough for an attack, the region will remain largely as is. Any advances forward for the eUSA require enough breathing room to stage an attack, and then mandate success to expand its position to target other eSerbian territories or eIndonesia’s mainland.

Russian Resistance Wars Fall Short
Following its success in FER, eRussia opened additional RWs in eRomania targeting Volga and Central Black Earth, as well as a RW against ePolish-occupied Volga Vyatka on Day 1074. The three regions were easily defended, likely because they were not as aggressively targeted. Whether eRussia makes a more spirited attempt to liberate its regions will remain to be seen.

Closing, and a Happy Birthday
Phoenix has notched another victory by winning back NoB, but it will only matter if they can indeed hold the region. If eBrazil is able to, and then advances against eSpain, one of EDEN’s most powerful members will be fighting a front for its own survival and national pride. Whether this would cause the Southeast Asian campaign to stall or be entirely postponed will be a decision that eUSA and EDEN leadership will need to make.
I realize that very few people know anything about this Poohead in real life, mostly of my own doing. My RL birthday is Halloween (31 October-- I am turning 23), so I will be celebrating tonight and tomorrow, and may not be producing a new article for the next couple of days. I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween, and celebration of my birthday 😃

God Bless America,
