Hi readers--considering the general lack of movement nowadays in the political sphere, I feel it's time that I write an article about my opinions of what we're up to atm.
Since I came to this country a couple of months ago, one difference between this country and the one I came from (Japan) has always been apparent to me in the back of the mind. Israel lacks a clear opposition to its mainline policymakers. This difference just came to the forefront of my attention after I began a discussion in an article in Japan yesterday, when someone I was discussing matters with compared Israel to an Autocracy after I compared Israel's situation to the Japanese one. In some sense, he is right. From the way I see it given recent presidential elections, Israel effectively operates as a military junta (ie: a government with policy headed by a council of like-minded military leaders) with technocrats, or "subject matter experts" (those with skill and experience) installed to follow the Junta's policies in the executive.
Well if you're paying attention, you're probably now asking, "So what?". Well, it's clear that unless you are a fan of a half-occupied Israel, the Junta's pro-Asteria policies haven't been working as of late. When we asked Asteria for help against Cyprus--what happened? Many of them turned their backs due to ethnic loyalties to the Cypriots. For our longstanding loyalty to that alliance--we got nothing; they simply turned their backs to the Cypriots' ambition.
I know Israel has a longstanding policy of remaining friends with factions such as the Greeks, but when a large portion of their country and allies turn their back to our occupation--should we really remain friends? If Israel wants to be anything more than it is now, it needs to change. Someone needs to step up with a new vision for the country, and dialogue must resume so the government may act like more than just a bunch of technocrats following old policy that worked only in the past. I know, I'm a hypocrit in some respect as I'll say now--until I get a job in real life (my job search is going on 8 months now) I won't be able to help much if at all personally as I need to stay focused on the job hunt. However, I think it's time--we can't continue to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result; someone needs to step up with a vision and attempt to implement it. Cyprus is now a powerful player in the region, and Israel needs some democracy and new policy if conditions are going to ever going to improve here.

I've always stressed a pro-Greece brotherhood, and they have always been there for us in the past when we called for aid. This most recent time is the only exception, and it's quite remarkable. I've never had the Greek government flat-out refuse to get involved or help us, especially against an enemy of both of ours in the game. As disappointing as this current situation is (and confusing), I don't believe one circumstance should break our long-standing ties with our oldest ally (even if it strains those ties tremendously). I agree, those ties should perhaps be reconsidered in time, but I think we can all agree: none of us would ever want Greece as a foe. They've always been imperialistic, which in this game, is a strength, and if we severed ties for the sake of independence, that would not last long.
I can agree with the I don't want Greece as a foe idea as well.
But at the same time, if Asteria/LETO isn't helping us then why bother with it--we don't need the alliance to be friends with them, or at least, we shouldn't need to be (if this we DO need to be, we might need to relook our relationship). Also this damn country needs an OPPOSITION in the presidential elections for once. Some democratic discourse and voting would seriously do some good in getting people involved and making the right choices rather than just having the same people make the policy and the technocrats/SMEs carry it out.
Actually, If Paraguay can be a friend of Argentina while they are members of rival alliances (and that is why we didn't stay there for long, Argentina didn't fight for us there), I can't see a reason why we cannot keep our relationship with Greece if we leave Leto.
Oh wait. When we joined Leto, they said we cannot be friends with Turkey, who were and still are members of Sirius. I guess that when it's about as weak as we are there are no exceptions.
That is was a nice article, but you are missing some important things..I dont know why, perhaps because you have been involved in Israel's politics only in the last 2-3 months.
Look what is happening in Israel the last (at least) year(!) :
There are only 3-4 active people to rule everything (Military, politics,Finance, etc)..In some circumstances only 2 people were doing all the "dirty" job in Israel (me and Miki). I dont know why it's happening this, because they are lazy? Because they know that the 2 "suckers" will do all the job? Because they re unintrested in this game? Because they dont know the basics of this game?..I dont know, but this is the hard truth..
In my presidency before 2 months, i was begging people to get involved in Ministries, i was begging people to replace me in IRC for some hours to supply weapons, food. And i didnt find anyone(only Miki was there to replace me). Even the food to the new players were been delievered by me (The President was deleivering food and supplies(!)!
In which serious e-country the President is doing all these jobs?At some months, we were even begging people to run for President. I was always complaining that new people must involve to politics, to rule things..and all of them agreed...BUT when the important moment to take responsibilities came..then everyone dissapeared..
I will be happy personally to step out for a while, new people to involve in politics..Personally i need this too, because i have been tired. (as you see personally the last month i havent been involved in government in any position).
You talked about "military junta", i'm calling it desperate government. Military junta hasnt elections. Here we have elections. Everyone can be candidate for President..You can be candidate for President too. Go for it please..I'm begging you to run for President. And when you elect, you will realise that you will be all alone running everything..
And then you will call the 2-3 members of this military junta(i'm calling them no-lifers) to help you in the Ministries..because simply you will not find anyone else. (even if you find, they will dissapear in 3-4 days). That's not a prediction, that's a fact..
Pls run for President..We need new people to run this country..
I know that, but I'm sure there's people on the sidelines who aren't mobilizing given they see it the way I do and when I get a rl job I basically intend to run for CP xD. As I said, I am a bit of a hypocrite given I can't really help and be the "opposition" myself.
I've got an interview tomorrow for a very nice opportunity in Long Island, NY; I'll let ya know if it goes well.
Good luck to your interview!
Got the job...so I guess I need to run for CP now 😃.
Good luck in your new job, and good luck in eIsrael.
JohnTG is right.
