Why would Sweden do such a stupid thing as attacking France?

For one week ago Sweden didn’t even think of attacking France. France had done nothing bad against Sweden. But with the spanish renagaed attacks and the growing eager from dear alliance countries to get a foothold in Europé Sweden not only approved an attack on France but also supported it.

Why?
Sweden has more experience than most countries about beeing an occypant. We have occupied Denmark, Poland and Germandy – every single region of them – all in the same time. We know how utterly pointless it is to occupying other countries in Erepublik and are also releasing region after region in all these countries.

Matthieu Bonne has just written an article where he state how pointless it was to occypu the Swiss ”Nothing good, neither for french nor for swiss people.”

Still yet, France togheter with Italy occypies all and every region in Switzerland and crushed a Swiss Resistace War as late as two days ago. This is not critizism it just shows how difficult it is for a government in power to let conquered regions go. Sweden knows this. Giving up regions the armed forces have fought hard to conquer aren’t easy everytime – still we have done it and will continue to do it.

Still we invade France, have we gone completely inzane?

Are we from the same country as Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio has spoken so well of, the country he even considered to move to during the sexties? Am I the eSwedish Noble Prize Litterature Award winner, just about the dumbest thing walking in eRepublik!?
Probably I am. But when a war against France was presented we en Sweden saw a valid reason to participate.

Erepublik Sweden is nothing like Erepublik Sweden, IRL 78% of Sweden is covered with Forrests and Woodland according to Wikipedia. And Sweden is a world top-10 Producer in Iron Ore Mining.

In Erepublik the great forrests are to be found in France and the Iron Ore in Spain and Greece. Fact Spain and Greece can add their Iron Ore production the last decade and they still can't come up with the amount of Iron Ore that is Minied in Sweden on one normal month. Fact 78% of Sweden is covered with Forrest and Woodland. Fact Sweden is much bigger than Germany. Fact Sweden has wood, lots of it.

Erepublik said they would base Raw Materials on RL – a crap idea, every country should have High in at least one Raw Material source thus creating a situation with comparative advantages and trade.
Simple.

But no, Erepublik said Real Life and then didn’t even stick to that. IMHO that was very unwise. Sweden screamed about this in Beta (the article is the article with single most Votes, over 700 votes if I remember - in Erepublik history – still no change in mind from Admin), we repeated this in Beta testing and we gave up on admin in V1.

If we are make a bad choice here, we can’t be much worse than the Erepublik Game Developers are, those who first gave us Wood High and then removed it and placed it in France. If they would have places one source in Sweden and one source in France we would have been settled. And remaied up here in cold north. Then we could produce, trade and co-exist.

Hell, if they only could have placed a Iron High in Sweden – 10’th largest Iron Ore procuder in the world – we could have trade Iron vs Wood. But no, they gave us High in… NOTHING!

That means that we can either sit up here with one of the greatest Defense Forces in the game doing nothing and waiting for our economy to getting weaker for every day that passes or we can try to conquer a region with High in Raw Material. Looking at the map and the alliance structure – Alexis Bonte, George Lemnaru and Cristi Badea gave us one choice and one choice only. France.

eRepublik must do better than this!
I belong to those who belive this eRepublik can be a game that doesn’t instantly reminds of Risk where the strong side conquer the weaker side bit by bit until everyone is bored and it all restarts. I know most active Swedes share my view about this and we belived in more dept in economy, trade, diplomacy. In putting focus on communtiy building of course with a doze of fighting but not with wiping countries out as the main task. Let’s face it, Iron, Wood, Diamonds, Oil, Weapons, Gifts, Hospitals, Defense Systems – most of it, not to say all of it is for one thing – WAR. eRepublik can do better than that, eRepublik must do better than that.

We do not like to completely wipe out countries in eRepublik, all countries should be allowed to exist. Atlantis is an Elephant in every aspect but one – Elephants are said to have a long memory. Atlantis doesn’t. A couple of days ago all Atlantis countries agreed to leave at least one region to France. The day after, the agreement seemed to be if not forgotten so at least up for discussion. Now I don’t know what the general agreement is and even if I knew I can say for sure there would be no guarantees.

That’s why we in Sweden has agreed to leave one of the regions on our ’share’ to France. And we also aim to create a situation where no one can attack this region and succeed, those of you who can add one plus one realizes which region I’m talking about already. Nothing should be taken for granted in war, but we can atleast promise not to attack all regions if we should succeed so well that we acctually reaches our goals. We respect the French fighters, especially when you fight for your Motherland.
