eREPUBLIK UPDATE - "BRILLINAT"
Feynmann
Hi guys,
Today I want to share my thoughts on the recent update Santa Plato presented us with.
Yeah, judging by your posts most of you are in "awe" of the new features.
Obviously there are some positive features, for the regular citizen, like the increased energy regeneration and the increased house durability.
But the update seemed to have messed up in a positive or negative way with a lot of the house builders' businesses and, at least for me, it kind of additionally over-complicates the game.
But I won't be giving detailed info on the update in this article. You can read all about it in the swarm of articles written today.
I wanted to share something about this update that I found really troubling, at least for me.
When I saw there's a maintenance today, I was very excited, cause I thought some of the game features that I was expecting, impatiently, were finally going to be implemented. But when I saw THAT I was like ...
I am sure a lot of you guys felt the same.
Now I am not an IT guy and I don't have any experience with coding, BUT it seems like the game developers invested quite some human resource in making this update possible.
- They had to add a lot of new features to EVERY in-game region - local governments, local taxes, residential applications etc.
- They had to tweak the existing houses adding some additional durability, depending on the residence region.
- They had to add town development, residents' statistics, properties, etc.
- They had to add bonus Energy pools and Energy regeneration
- Etc., etc., etc. .....
So they put ALL THAT EFFORT to create something that is
And I couldn't help myself, but wonder - couldn't all that hard work been dedicated for something else, that is at least a bit more meaningful???
Weren't there some game features, that needed additional work??? I have some hard time remembering ....
Was it
This one
Probably not ... could it be that one
Still not sure ... its probably that one
Oooooh I know it has to be this one
I mean, guys, seriously you have some pending game features that every player is eager to be implemented. The air more is super cool, but it is going nowhere, people are craving Q6 & Q7 Houses and higher quality air weapons/companies and the Perception OMG!!!
And you put ALL THAT EFFORT in creating this .... "brilliant update"???
As I said I am not an IT guy, but I believe adding, not 4, but EVEN 1 miserable Perception center would not have wasted you so much resources and would have made a lot of players happy. For that amount of work, you have put in this update, you could have easily implemented higher quality Air weapons/Air companies or/& Q6/7 Houses.
I am not sure how you make your game development decisions and how do you select the new features you want to implement, but I hope its not something like:
So to wrap this up I suggest you start listening to what the players are looking for or at least finish the ideas YOU started.
That's for today guys
Good luck picking up your residence - I hear living in the suburbs is great.
REMEMBER GUYS - ALWAYS BE GOOD TO EACH OTHER
CHEERS!!!

eREPUBLIK UPDATE - "BRILLINAT"

Someone give this man a beer for his article!
A great analysis
This update is just much ado about nothing
*facepalm* *rage* *slaps his wife*
"Brillinat".
Thunderous applause.
*applauds*
* slow clap *
Yeah, as usual they have a mismanagement of human resources...
But about perception center, they don't intend to implement because, according to devs, it would make the air module even more unbalanced, since visas and old players will have gold to increase immediately their perception centers while newbies will not (but in this case just don't allow upgrades in these centers! Today EBs visas dominate the airs...)
Look this interview:
https://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-rezo-s-view-interview-with-plato-devteam-eng-esp-pol-rom-ser-fra-por-mkd--2639347/1/20
Anyway, certainly there was better things to do with their devs...
There's no difference if you are going to dominate trough visa perception center upgrades or trough visa EB sales.
The main deal is that leaving the players, buying tons of EBs is probably far more profitable than forcing players to make a 1 time gold investment in 1,2. or more Perception centers.
Yep, and as I said, they can add Perception centers without upgrades
Please keep in min😛 without all the Visa players the servers would have been shut-down long time ago!
True story. But I'm not trying to blame the visa users or the game developers for wanting to make some cash out of the game. It's perfectly normal.
But one thing I don't get - why are we so prejudised - some people are using master cards. I think they are probably very offended with all that visa talks. 😃
I've been using the visa myself, but compared to the eRep whales, I am more of a plankon 😃
yeah i think some elements where defective and keeping back other updates most notably the housing prices versus value. by adding energy recovery to it they can perhaps now finish q6 and 7 there. as well this was a neat way to introduce the promised local governments.
consider this more a major update than mere "amount of work "effort.

BRILLINAT
Great speech!
Good article! votados
Perception buildings&Q67 houses&missile things, I agree with admin.
I think they tried to boost Q2~Q5 house industries, but this update actually can't be a help to those industries. Players who don't have much money(or newbs) cannot buy those expensive house set every week. I am not doing that too. Also, after the update, house prices rocketed up. Gold price is rising and I understand the inflation, but it is visible that the update boosted house inflation. Now some people will even struggle buying Q1 houses every week. +2 recovery/6 mins is of course sweet, but too expensive.
What was good about this update was, that we have another political district system other than country. I heard that there was regional congressional candidate in the past. Mayor election system is similar to that, and I love it. More people will be engaged in politics and will have responsibility in the New World. That might motivate them and make this game more active.
I completely agree with you - the local government features are cool, but implementing that together with the new housing features was bad, at least for most of the players.
+ The air mode is up for ... dunno, a year, more, in any case long before my 3 months eLife. And understandably a lot of players (including you) are committing to it. Leaving such a vital part of the game mechanics without proper update is not cool. And my point is that they could have easily finished the air mode and the higher Q air weapons, before they dedicate so much time and effort to a completely new feature. When you finish the pending updates -> go for it implement new features.
I was one of the people who was shouting for air TGs. I mean, at least until 2~3 months after aircraft module came out. However, in another game similar to erep, I could see what will happen when there is a new TG for new battle module from the start.
A game called er.evoll.ution had Marine Fight module update. It was cool. Each regions were classified again by land/coastal regions. All countries could attack other countries' coastal regions(like airstrike in erep). They also made Q1~Q5 ships for the marine fight. However, they also introduced "Intelligence" training ground(and even with 3 TG upgrades) with the new fight module, and now it has no difference from old ground fight. Newbs cannot make any difference at the ground, and also at the ocean. Not at all.
What I am interested is, some boosters(damage boosters, ghost boosters) for air fight module. Ghost booster is especially a great idea since air module's greatest goal is to make newbs engage in some fights and influence the result.
Missiles, I still have no idea. If admins wanted to introduce active air missile industry in the game, they needed to fix the numbers of produced missiles per work. At least 10x of present status. Then they could add high-Q missiles after Q1. Now, Q1 is too expensive, no one would pay for Q2, Q3 or whatever.
And yeah, I agree that they put so much effort on this update for not pleasant outcome 🙁

brilliant.......... i reckon

Didn't mention this but "Now I am not an IT guy and I don't have any experience with coding, BUT it seems like the game developers invested quite some human resource in making this update possible." while I can't claim to have seen erepublik's coding, I would say the results of it seems bad in some places. More specifically the article comment system and the messaging system. When a comment gets a lot of replies, it stops showing the replies once it has x amount. What that means is that when you get an alert that your comment has received a reply and you get a link to the article with your comment, it doesn't actually show the reply unless you click "Load more comments". It might make you think "I thought I got a reply?" because you can't see the reply, which is proof of bad coding. Youtube on the other hand will always show the latest replies. As it should.
Then there's the messaging system. When messaging others, the captcha thing blocks the bottom part of the message and makes adjusting the size of the message box a pain due to it being raped by the captcha thing. It's not hard to code space below a message box. I have done it myself, and it takes about 10 seconds. Literally.
Those problems have lasted for years iirc. In other words, erepublik probably doesn't have amazing coders (assuming they even have more than one) that can put something like a "miserable Perception center " in the game within what players would call a decent time frame.
Thumbs up
for the World History 😉
by the way, personally, i hope admins will keep the perception as it is atm.. i believe that is the only hope for the younger players to match old strong ones.
think about a player that starts the game today or even months ago how huge the difference in strength is?!! add to it maverick pack and young players are as good as inexistent!! only air battles have shed a little light for them, so lets keep it that way!
Yeah, but it really doesn't matter whether the gap will be made from building up perception or as it currently is - buying tons of EBs.
An old player or a super spender can easily buy thousands of EBs, that allow him/her to dominate the air and the new player that is not spending that much, or anything at all, can never reach that.

They did say that perception is no longer a priority for them. So I am not shocked. And honestly, that's fine by me. If perception is introduced, it will be a celebration for a week, then newer players that join a year from now will find themselves in a similar issue to how the 'land' soldiers feel now. They can't catch up. Except with air it is even worse because there are no divisions.
Are there others things they could have fixed? Of course, and they probably never will. But any change is a good thing in my book, it makes it interesting.
I also don't mind saying this update has me intrigued, credit where credit is due and all that. I will have to see their upcoming tweaks to the political module before I decide if this was a wasted update or not. But that's just me. I'm more of a glass half full kinda guy.
Great article feynmann! but we forgot to address whether or not this new resident tax is reoccurring or if its one time.. if its reoccurring then it makes it much worse and just a drain on resources. i barely break even the way the stock market is now if i have to pay taxes on top of having a house im afraid to become a citizen for fear of being taxed to death by the state... such is reality.
I need Fifa17 coins for Play Station 4 , i give a revatrd ho finds me someone......
