Washington Battle Bug, and What the Government's been up to.

Day 973, 11:42 Published in USA USA by Bradley Reala
EDIT: For those of you who watched the Washington battle, I'm sure you saw that the war module kept timing out on America's turn. We were completely unable to defend ourselves or attack. Please submit a ticket to the administrators about this by following this link: http://www.erepublik.com/en/tickets

Well, it’s been a busy couple of weeks, though I know without war it hasn’t seemed like it. We’ve been hard at work in the eUS Government with some really cool stuff. Allow me to go through piece by piece.

Department of Media

I am happy to announce two major initiatives in the Media Department. First, the eUS Press Corps will be returning, starting with their first meeting tomorrow. The press corps will be made up of a team of reporters. The reporters will be given access to a press conference, to be held every other day. At this conference, they will be able to talk directly with the administration and have their questions answered. The press conferences will be organized in a specific press corps channel on IRC. Reporters will be asked to join the Press Corps by submitting a form with links to their best writing on it. (The form has not been released yet, but we will be working on getting a public one put together ASAP).

We are going to be starting an eUS government sponsored Youtube channel. This channel can be used to promote any videos you have the rights to and would like to host, Erep related or not. We will use Erepublik and other channels to promote the video, which will be linked to your in-game referral address. Yes, videos you submit to us will make you gold. The government’s interest in this program is solely in luring more active players to the game. Interested in submitting some content? Contact David Landon in game.

Department of Defense

Remember how everyone said they hated to just read DoD orders and fight where it said to? Well, worry not! We’ll have a channel open on irc (#defense) that should have people in it to help you choose where and how to fight. The choice of course, will be up to you, but they’ll be able to help direct people where they can do the most damage. It’ll be less picking which battle to fight in, and more working together to try and figure out how to do the most damage. Of course, DoD Orders will still be around with helpful tips on where and how to fight, but the irc channel will be a quick way to figure out what’s going on in the battlefield, and how we can maximize our damage. We might even be bringing back an old favorite, Civilian Mass Attacks. At certain times of the day, the irc channel will have an organized full on assault to lay the smackdown on our enemies. Civilians will be able to fight along side the military to push and take as many hexes as possible, and maybe even shoot some Serbs while we’re at it!

You can meet at either the in game chatroom we've put up, Minuteman Tavern (that's not the name of it, but I like that name better), or on irc at #defense.

Department of the Interior

Serendipitous has been hard at work in the DoI, whether it’s organizing the job hubs (see those awesome skill 0 wages? Yep, thank Serendipitous or we probably wouldn’t even have a skill 0 market. Did you see that awesome V2 guide recently? That was Serendipitous too. (Well, mostly Serendipitous. Tepwnzor did some awesome ones too, but he’s doing them freelance. V2 Noob Guide V2 Noob Guide 2, Health and Happiness). He’s also been in charge of making the hospitals that you see around the country...oh wait...

I feel like the headless chicken defines each man’s Presidency differently. Unfortunately in our case we get screwed over in placing Defense Systems and Hospitals. Every time I have attempted to place constructions I’ve been summarily defeated by the headless chicken.

If you want to help the Department of Interior they are looking for Mass Messaging workers, and for a company manager for the Job Hubs. Please contact Serendipitous.

Department of State

At the beginning of my administration there was some trolling on the part of a few individuals. *coughOstincough* Since that time, I have worked with both the Poles and Croatians quite closely, and I can personally assure you that governmental relations are in no danger. The Poles and Croats remain very good allies, and are dedicated to working with us, as we are with them. The Greeks are another great group of allies, and they just posted an article in our media. http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/greece-supports-usa--1459028/1/20 please vote this up! Lastly we subsidized the Slovakian MPP. Last month Poland covered a portion of the MPP with Slovakia, so this month we did our part to protect our allies and covered a portion of that MPP.

Department of the Treasury

And now, a message from our Secretary of the Treasury, Devoid! “Obviously there's been lots of turmoil with the advent of Rising. I don't think anyone expected less, since the entire foundation of the world's economy was turned on its head. But as far as a nation can be in good shape at this point, we are. Prices are coming down (thanks in significant part to our low tariffs), our peg is not far from stabilized, and wages are stabilizing. Once we get war, our peg and wages should stabilize further. Just remember, as messy as things have been in our country, they could have been a lot worse, and are still pretty bad in a lot of places in the world. Things aren't bad and are getting better, now kindly disperse and stop chanting slogans.”

As you can see, the economic situation we’ve been dealing with IS improving, and will continue to improve, and that’s thanks in large part to Devoid and the DoT’s tireless work.
