[Dept of Ed] Groundpounding with Deepchill

Day 3,768, 02:30 Published in USA USA by Department of Citizen Affairs

Hello again eAmerica. Today, a former commander of Easy Company and all-ground top guy Deepchill shares with his his advice on how to maximise your damage output on the ground.

Ground combat (sometimes called tank fights) is often overlooked in guides and tutorials published since the advent of Air Battles. This is because new and newer players can have the greatest impact fighting in the skies. What if you want to buck the trend though? Or the strength-swap feature makes another return? Or an event like the Days of Mayhem comes around? Well, then you’ll need to learn how to slog it like the Ground Pounders.

What kinds of weapons do you fight with?
I always fight with Q7 weapons unless it’s an air battle, in that case no weapons for me.

How do you decide where to fight when you log on?
I usually fight when my MU DO Editor’s note: That’s Military Unit Daily Orders! says I should fight. If for some reason it’s not available, I look for an ally battle.

Do you fight in air battles and ground battles?
I am a d4 ground specialist, I try to avoid air battles, I leave it our airborne unit. We still need ground damage.

Do you work for an MU commune?
I work as a slave at 1.03 for the EZC commune. Don’t need the money, so I give it all to the MU.

Do you own a Q1 house for extra energy?
I light up all houses when there is important battles going on.

How often do you logon each day?
I log on about 5 or 6 times a day, more when I’m not traveling for work.

How long did it take to reach your military rank?
A long time... like 8 years

How many medals do you win each day?
Not many these days, maybe once or twice a week now.

How do you pay for all the food and weapons you use?
Self supplying, not relying on my MU, I leave it to the ones that needs it.

Why did you select a residence in Santa Fe?
I picked Santa Fe just because no one was there at that time, I was alone for a good month in there, not anymore.

Can you recommend a residence choice for any players starting out? Or should they stay Nomadic?
Not really, I haven’t really looked at all the mechanics behind it for awhile.

The Department of Education would like to thank DC for his time - especially as he responded by iPhone while travelling for work. Now there is dedication!

What can we learn about ground battles from Deepchill?

- If you’re going in on the ground, spin up those Q7 laser cannons. You will do more damage with less energy used.

- Following your Military Unit’s Daily Order helps the eUSA keep a coherent foreign policy - in major Military Units these are set in conjunction with the Secretaries of Defence and Foreign Affairs. So if you’re not chasing Battle Heroes and just looking for True Patriot damage or rank points, follow your orders!

- Your damage is directly proportional to the energy you have available. Maximizing the size of your energy bar maximizes your damage. The cheapest way to increase the size of your energy bar and how fast it refills is to use houses. Not only that, but a Q1 house will make a net profit for you at market salaries.

- Declaring a residence somewhere in the countryside (Santa Fe is also the home of our President, Gnilraps - must be a secret EZC base out there in New Mexico!) brings benefits. Chief among these is expanded energy recovery (an extra 20/hour plus 20/hour for each house you activate). If you pick a less populated region that classifies as a “Town” then for the princely sum of 100 CC each house, your houses will last 20% longer! That’s over a full day extra PLUS extra energy recovery.

We’re targeting a fresh and pleasant feel for these articles and we hope we’re delivering. If you love it or if you hate it, we would love to hear from you. Don’t forget, we’re looking for new banners and line breaks. If you’ve got graphics skills and can do better than the tired old pictures you can see here, send them over to to Ilene Dover for a shot at a 20k CC prize. At the end of this weekend the winning banner will be sitting on top of a new article from this very newspaper.

With love,
your DoE Staff,

Ilene Dover - Secretary of Education
