The Economist ~ Interview with Kevy Shabado

Day 1,034, 14:09 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Spite313

Dear friends,

I just thought I'd publish a quick interview with one of my friends on erep, Kevy Shabado. I chose Kevy because despite being a quiet guy (on a personal level at least!) he's made a big impression on a lot of people. Most of our international readers will know him as the author of The Kevin Times which produces weekly population stats. This is a short interview, but hopefully you'll learn a little more about the enigma 😛

How did you first find eRepublik?

I was introduced to it by a friend. He is Canadian and at the time it Canada and the USA were getting destroyed by PEACE so he wanted me to sign up as an eCanadian. I left it for a few days then decided to join the eUK and get in on the fun.

What made you make the jump from casual player to active player?

Well; I joined TUP as soon as I could join a political party. I started to get bored of two clicking a few months later so I decided to sign up to the forums and get into congress for TUP so I could actually contribute. 🙂

What do you think kept you playing the game?

I’d say that some TUP members helped me stay in the first few weeks as they saved me and helped regain my wellness from the Trap companies set up to kill new players. After that I’d say the unity party community in general on the forums/irc made me stay.

I remember when your first population stats article came out. What made you decide to take that angle and do a stats paper?

I really wanted to start an article series but I don’t consider myself to be the best writer. I decided to do stats because I hadn’t seen many articles like it and it was something I was interested in.

I think I'm not alone in wondering...how long does it take you to write those articles?!

Too long…Lol. It actually depends. When I started doing them it’d take 30 minutes and be 250 words long. Back when I did Active citizens it could be 2000 words long and take a few hours. Currently it’s about 1000-1500 words and takes me an hour or two.

What was your proudest moment as a journalist?

Reaching 1000 subscribers! 😃

You are well known to local audiences at least as a two-time TUP President. What made you decide to run?

Prior to being TUP President I was vice president twice and I decided it was my time to step up and help the party. It was my way of helping the party that made me not leave the game.

It's sometimes said that after the Presidency, being TUP President is the second most stressful job in the UK. What would you say was your most stressful moment?

In both terms it had to be Congress elections. In the first term because I spent most of the day in front of the PC ultimately getting bad results and in the second term because I was able to be around on the Election Day. 🙁

And your proudest moment?

I’d have to say congress again; especially the second term since we managed to elect everyone that was an official candidate.

Kevy on the 25th of each month

What advice would you give to anyone else following in your footsteps?

If you’re just starting out and want to do more in the game don’t be silly like me; join the forums as soon as possible and get involved! It’s the best thing you could do if you want to do more in this game. I’d also highly recommend Joining TUP. It has a great community.

What is the future for Kevy Kev Kev?
Country President?
I’m kidding; I’m not sure how to answer this question. I’m taking a break for now but I’m hopefully going to get more involved in the Cabinet next month; who knows; I may run for Party President again!

Hope you've enjoyed this short interview, a little bit more light hearted than my recent articles 😛 If you enjoyed it vote and comment, and I might make a few more for our prominent but less well known citizens 😃
