SCRAB! I Hate Goodbyes...

Day 944, 13:18 Published in USA Netherlands by rainy sunday

I write this today in response to both recent forum discussions about former Presidents and the departure of a beloved friend.

To put this in context, the following is strictly my opinion and from the perspective of a brand-new citizen having no insight or understanding of eRepublik history, current events or politics at the time.

Beginning with my answers to a couple of recent forum polls:

Which President do you HATE the most?

Scrabman.

Admittedly, HATE seems a strong word if you care to take it literally. Now, I don't hate Scrabman. I don't even know Scrab. But as a brand new player, I did find his tone & demeanor in the press despicable. So much so, I avoided participating in the eus forums and dismissed the whole of the US government as arrogant and condescending pricks for months, instead retreating to international media, wiki, outside sources like erep tools, and even leaving the country for several months in search of a friendlier atmosphere.

Which President do you love the most?

Emerick.

Vile, vulgar, vain. Love him or hate him, he grabbed your attention and owned the dance floor. On a base level, I could relate to Emerick and his extreme behavior. He said outrageous things some people wouldn't dare think and he did it lyrically. He forced me to examine myself and question my purpose in this world. And he did so with a wicked smile and a devious glint in his eye. For all his other flaws, Emerick gets a free pass in my book simply for being such an EPIC character and a riveting ass.

Why should I bother airing my dirty laundry in public?

As a reminder, when you use the public media as a spokesperson of any capacity, be conscious of your audience and make sure you're presenting yourself in the manner you wish to be remembered.

Naturally, this leads me to talk about Josh Frost, fiercest of warrior cats on the battlefield and a playful and friendly kitten at home. I am honored to have called him my Admiral and my President but moreso, my friend. As news of his departure from this world into a Greater one spreads, I pause to reflect on how he altered the course of my elife. His guidance and friendship transformed me from a homeless, wandering stray to where I am today. Josh won me over not with his HUGE stats or ego but with his respectful nature, calm intelligence and his love for the hunt. He is a larger-than-life tomcat who knew where the litter-box was and the appropriate time and place to use it.

Respect, King Kitty, and may you find even greater success accomplishing your goals IRL than you have here.
