EDEN or nothing...

As you all know, the "confederacy" idea was not very successful. Neither the CPs who attended the latest EDEN summit (yes all 4 of them) nor the EDEN HQ showed enthusiasm. Their point was that it would increase bureaucracy, idea I can actually agree with. Seeing how little interest an EDEN summit gives birth to, or to simply take a look at how "vivid" the EDEN military chat-rooms are, I guess such a complex idea is for some-other time or for somebody else. Definitely not right for an immature alliance, with immature country representatives and with even more immature EDEN HQ members.

Instead, our MC came with another proposal. If we can`t bring countries closer, if we can`t make them more interested in taking power in their own hands, let us take the power in ours. Point was to give more attributions to the EDEN Supreme Command structures while same time limiting its numbers, getting rid of the ballast and the people who don`t deserve to be there. And to that I can give the example of the EDEN HQ member Sturmmann for whom EDEN is nothing but a temporary umbrella, and who wouldn`t have a problem in leaving the alliance in case of a better opportunity appears. And that is the person who represents Bulgaria in the EDEN HQ. No comment.

Anyway, going back to what can we do in order to increase the power of the EDEN HQ and implicitly the unity of EDEN, one of the ideas was to start applying penalties to countries that disobey orders. This way we would make sure that another "secret" treaty between Croatia and Serbia or another war between EDEN country members (China) and EDEN-trial members (South Korea) would not happen again.

My proposal was to simply go to the core of the problem, the Treaty of EDEN and modify article 9, paragraph 2 from:

"2. If a Member feels that another Member has breached the terms outlined in this Treaty and brought prejudice to it's interests and automatically to the interests of the Brotherhood it can file an official complaint to the Command Council.
2.0.1. If such a complaint is filed the High Ranking Officials must take a vote to validate the accusation. The vote is considered to be in favor of the accusation if it meets a majority of over 66% votes [100% is considered to be all the CC members minus the Ranking Official representing the offender] thus confirming the Treaty violation.
2.0.2. The Member that is found guilty of said Treaty violation can choose to either repair the damage caused as decided by the Command Council or accept a Reprimand.
2.0.3. If a Member collects over 2 Reprimands in the course of 30 days the Supreme Commander is obligated to request a vote that terminates the offenders Member status as described in Article II paragraph 3.0.2."

Paragraph 2.
If an EDEN Command Structure Official(Note: EDEN HQ Member) or a Country Member High Ranking Official (Note: Country President) feels that another Member has breached the terms outlined in this Treaty and brought prejudice to it's interests and automatically to the interests of the Brotherhood it can file an official complaint to the Command Structure Official responsible with the matter at hand.

2.0.1 If such a complaint is filed, the Command Structure Official will investigate the matter and decide whether a disciplinary action is deemed as necesary. In case the Command Structure Official reaches the conclusion that the Treaty has been breached or that the offender has acted against the interests of the Brotherhood it can apply a Disciplinary action in accordance with the gravity of the offense.

2.0.2 Decisions made by the Command Structure Official must be brought to the attention of the EDEN Commanding Structures and endorsed by it.

2.0.3 Like stated in the paragraph 2.0.1 the disciplinary actions to be taken are in accordance with the gravity of the offense. The Command Structure Official can decide to strip the Offender from exercising its EDEN rights (military, political, diplomatically) for a certain period of time, ranging from 3 days - in case of minor offenses, 7 days - in case of medium gravity offenses , to 14 days - in case of severe offenses.

2.0.4 From the moment the decision has been made, the Offender has 24 hours to register an appeal with the EDEN Supreme Commander in case he considers that the decision has been abusively taken. The EDEN Supreme Commander will be required to investigate the matter at hand and decide whether the disciplinary action taken by the EDEN Command Structure Official is valid or not. The EDEN Supreme Commander will take additional action in case needed.


To sum it up, apply penalties in accordance to the gravity of the mistake. If China put CoTD on SK instead of where the EDEN MC says, consider it as minor offense and give it a 3 day penalty during which they would not have the right to ask for EDEN military support. In case Croatia makes "secret" deal with Serbia consider it as a more serious offense and act in consequence.

Of course things look all right on paper. Problems appear when you actually talk the matter to the EDEN HQ where the others have their own ideas of course. Doesn`t much matter they won`t take any action. It`s enough that they don`t agree with you and so they will just delay the process or stop it altogether.
So the proposal was made more than a week ago. Some wanted different terms regarding penalties and so I asked them to write down their ideas so we can talk them through during the evening or the next day... 5 days later after getting no feedback I asked the EDEN SC Iaswn to implement the new penalties system in the Treaty of EDEN so we can start applying it. Of course that didn`t happen, our brave Commander, adopting the position of the ostrich, made it clear that he will take no measures against countries that act against our alliance interests.

Some might agree with him that showing good will is a way to keep everybody on friendly terms. However this didnt happen when the Croatian president signed that infamous treaty with Serbia about 2 months ago giving away Bosnia and opening Serbia`s doors towards the rest of the Balkans. The Bulgarians still haven't forgot...
So this is how our brave Supreme Commander sees fit to keep EDEN united, by doing enough as to not look like he is doing nothing.

Anyway, after this episode which took place on Tuesday or Wednesday, I left the EDEN HQ. There is no point for me to be there, to try and change things and see how nothing is done. To waste my time making plans or revising the EDEN treaty and to see how the people in charge don`t give a rat`s ass about it. Or how they conduct themselves by the motto "Let`s change! But let`s keep everything the same." 😉


And on a personal note. Regarding the rumors I keep hearing on the merge with Terra where they ask for a new name and structure. That is simply blasphemy. EDEN (despite retarded leadership) is still a family. We have the history others only dream of. We have tradition. We are by far the most famous alliance ever to be born. We are long-lasting and eternal. We survived for so long together and nothing and nobody can defeat us. The only ones who can destroy this dream is us. And I hope we will be smart enough for that to never happen.

Anyway this was just a hint for people like Sturmmann and others who see EDEN like a rotting corpse they should get rid of. This tree doesn`t bend as a few dry branches command. Respect EDEN or there will be hell to pay for!
