A New Age. A New Brotherhood?

Day 1,292, 10:04 Published in Romania Romania by Wallachian
Where we are now.
There have been talks inside EDEN Commandment in regard with what to do about the problem we are facing, and which is, having no chance to successfully fight against our enemies.
Of course, like many brought about, it`s pure mathematics, they are twice as many and so we cannot defeat them. We lost many regions and had member countries completely deleted off the map.
This created the premise of seeing what is EDEN made of. And unfortunately the answer is, not much. When time came to show what we are made of, we proved we are not an alliance, we are not one “entity” but a bunch of countries following their own agenda and fighting together for the sole reason we have common enemies. And when hard times come, we start to look elsewhere. There were member countries who were fighting for conquering non-original territories while original ones belonging to another alliance member were under enemy yoke. Others decided to wage war without consulting with the HQ first and then started to complain that they are being wiped out and how come Eden doesn`t help. And last but not least we have countries who make treaties with our enemies. I`m sorry but this is not the idea I have in mind when I think about an alliance.

A couple months ago I started to write for the Voice of EDEN and was quite motivated to make a change. EDEN always suffered at communication and I thought waging a media war might help motivating our troops on the battlefield. Then we had to deal with the “highly acclaimed” media module changes which gave a serious hit to the entire press. Then we tried to increase the number of subscribers in order to keep people in the know of what was going on. Nowadays, looking at the map and seeing how EDEN stands, whether you write an article or not it doesn`t much matter. There is a lethargy that took over the entire community and not just EDEN and whipping a dead horse didn`t prove to bring any sort of results anyway.

So where do we go from here?
Based on what some HQ members believe and probably the vast majority of the member countries CPs, we`re going nowhere. As long as our enemies are a lot bigger and more motivated then we are, we should just sit and watch how we`re getting our asses kicked. And in the meantime, why not close a treaty with the enemy, NE a stronger country just for fun, and maybe one day even decide to leave EDEN. Because that is pretty much the general spirit everywhere.
Whenever you try to make a change then somebody comes and say, “You can`t do it! It`s simply mathematics! They are more than us.” Or “Even if you come up with a good idea, how are you going to convince the Presidents?”
So this is EDEN folks, not the romantic idea of “battle cladded tanks” defending the “Garden of EDEN”, but a bunch of demoralized countries which seem to go along with the ass-kicking because God forbid we change the way we think and the way we act and see if we can come up with a better union, a better strategy, a better army, a better - you name it.
Hell no! Let`s just wait until Plato takes pity, changes the military module again and maybe this way we might win again.
So, we can simply go on like this or try to make some minor changes that will sort pretty much nothing but at least will give us the reason to say we got off our asses and tried something different. Or, we can change the entire foundation of a rotting organism and bring it back to life.

In order for you to see what some of us(very few) would like, you first have to know what EDEN really is.
EDEN now is a group of countries (13) which fight for a common cause. The alliance is ruled by a group of representatives (some inactive) in the EDEN HQ which take care of a few issues: EDEN military strategy (that of course if country representatives -CPs and MODs - follow the common strategy and not fight elsewhere according to their own interest which is something you see more and more often), the EMC (probably the only good thing which happened to EDEN in the past half a year, despite the fact that even though it started 2 months ago it`s still not complete), an economic component (which among others takes care of opening RWs) and a diplomatic one (which should take care of EDEN members treaties - that of course unless some countries have a better idea).
If you also add the PR/Media component you will get an idea of what EDEN HQ is all about - a government. The problem is, EDEN HQ cant reach the best of their potential because at any time they have to obtain the accept of member country CPs. And if they organize a summit to ask for CPs opinion and one of them had 1 too many beers before, then naturally they might talk and negotiate for an hour plus and reach no agreement. From this point of view the whole structure is inefficient.

For as long as a country decisions are taken by only one person (CP) there will be no real success. More than that, one man can represent the end of EDEN. If a wrong president will be elected and he decides not to listen to the EDEN HQ and take matters in his hands and that president is from one of the top EDEN countries then everything we build for the past 2 years will be as good as dead.

Is there anything better than that?
We need to find a way to delegate responsibility to more country representatives. The main gain will be that this will reduce the risk of making serious mistakes. By reducing the importance of the CP decisions and bringing more people into the team we increase cohesion inside the alliance, that concept for which I`ve been yelling my lungs out for the past 2 months.

And how do we do that?
We recreate the alliance structure. We create a Brotherhood, a real one this time.
The best way it would be to create an over-state with an over-government. No more a bunch of kids looking for candy but a grown-up who knows what it takes to succeed.
We put the foundation to the Confederacy of EDEN. (or any other more relevant name, even keep the name of Brotherhood)

The over-state will have 1 Government and a number of Ministries.
On the 5th of the month, each country elects a new president. That president comes with a team: MoFA, MOD, Economics, Administration, etc. What we do is take ALL of the respective country`s ministers and give them a place as representatives in the EDEN Government.
The EDEN Government will have a number of Ministries according to what is needed in today`s New World. Each Ministry will be formed by the 13 national Representatives. The Representatives elect a Minister. The elected Ministers will then take a seat in the Central Government.
Ministries will decide in the matters relevant to their domain. Ministry of War` Minister and Representatives will decide on the daily military strategy and so on.
Central Government will decide on more important matters which involve more than one domain. For example, Ministry of War can send the EDEN Army to fight somewhere but the finances required will be provided by the Ministry of Economics.
The EDEN HQ will remain as an administrative force, Police of EDEN, if you must, to make sure that rules are respected and that the structure is successful. In the future, it`s entire role can be rediscussed.
A system of Penalties will be required in order to make sure that some don`t start acting on their own again.

Advantages:
- Decisions will finally be taken as a whole. You won`t see any “secret treaties” between an EDEN country and an enemy.
- Awarding interest. This new structure will create the premises for a healthy competition in between member states. No more playing individual.
- United Army: no more EDEN MCs yelling for troops to be deployed in battle and only to see EMC fighting. Now the Unified Army will fight where the Ministry of War sends it. No more local interests.
- Unified Central Bank: no more danger of TOs or funds being stolen by corrupt local ministers.
There are so many more advantages that came to mind that it would be pointless to cover them all. The basic idea will be: take the best from each country and you will have a powerful organism.

Disadvantages:
- To a degree countries will loose a part of their decision making. However, by being active and responsible they will be able to gain points and influence the well-being of all the EDEN countries.
Now you might say, “Yeah but CP still has the button, he makes decisions”, to which my answer is that CPs can be impeached. By having more of that country representatives in the EDEN structure you delegate responsibility. In case one apple goes bad, the others might decide to get a new one. And there`s no mistake that cannot be fixed.

Anyway, there`s a lot to talk on this subject. However seeing how slow things work in the current EDEN structure I had to think of a new way. Another reason for publishing this article is that given the current state of affairs I have lost most of my motivation to continue with the EDEN HQ, and I would like to write my ideas down for one day, maybe, they might prove useful to those who will follow, to those that can learn from our mistakes and take EDEN on a new peak. For it matters not what you do for yourself if you`re all alone. We might not be here tomorrow but what about EDEN?
