Be careful what you wish for

Even though this is only semi-related, I was inspired to write this article after reading CRoy's, which is one of the best articles I've read in recent days.

As CRoy and others have pointed out, what many of you have been hoping for is finally going to happen soon.

We're going to get invaded.

It might happen tomorrow, it might be next week, next month, or in the next few months. It will happen.

I've seen many Americans yearn for the days when we were invaded nearly two years ago, pointing out that it united us as a country, turned us into a strong fighting force and a dominant player on the world stage. I've seen many Americans say that an invasion is just what we need, this game is getting boring. I've seen many Americans say that an invasion will help us get a baby boom.

Be careful what you wish for.

While the end of the invasion did lead to us unifying, becoming strong and having a lot of fun while we were winning our states back, people conveniently forget what came before the fun: A month or two of absolute misery. It was frustrating logging in every day to see us lose another state or see Canada or Spain (then our ally) lose a region. It was helpless, we were being attacked by as many as four countries at once with large MPP stacks and lots of gold to spend. When we're invaded, it will likely be by at least four countries again, this will be extremely difficult to win against.

Yes, we did get a baby boom during World War III. But that didn't occur naturally, the war really only helped with retention. It was up to us to recruit our friends and advertise this game on the web. And many Americans did, there were staggering amounts of referrals and promotion of the war effort on forums and websites outside of this game.

So how do we make this work?

We need to start preparing now, our government, our military, our ambassadors, our Congress, our parties, our militias, our citizens: everyone needs to start thinking about how we're going to win this upcoming war and what we can do to help.

To the average citizen: I strongly urge you to join the military or a militia. When we're attacked, it will be more important than ever to be involved in an organized fighting force.

Get involved with the government. Fill out any of these forms depending on what you're interested in:
Executive Application
Ambassador
Economic Council

Get involved with your party as well, since they are key source of retention and have the important responsibility of running good candidates. Contact your Party President.

To the Executive Branch: You guys already know this, but the more allies, the better. The stronger, the better. When we're attacked, we'll need all of the help we can get, especially with NWO containing many of the world's strongest countries.

To Congress: If there's anything we can do to help create more gold for MPPs or tanking and more reserves (monetary and supplies) for future wars, we need to look into it.

To the military: You guys already know this too, but we need to be more efficient with what we have now and figure out ways to do more damage and effectively strategize how to spread out over a day (not just one mini-battle).

To the parties: Retention and outreach. Get your members active and reach out to new citizens and people not in a party. The stronger our parties are, the stronger our elected officials are, and by extension, the stronger our country is.
